They're both problematic in their own way.
Atheism is basically just scientific materialism, it ultimately leads nowhere. The more you go down this path, down to its extremes, the more you realise how flawed it is. And that includes its science and its health. Because what is it now, something like 80% of adults with one or more chronic disease in the US. This is its health? I'm not saying it's all bad, but it's definitely a limited and incomplete system of knowledge. And I don't mean that in a scientific way of 'we can always learn more'. I mean, innately and fundamentally.
In modern life, I know it seems like atheists are the often well adjusted. But as the Krisnamurti said, 'it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society'.
Christianity means different things to different people. It's largely become quaint and irrelevant in the UK, now to be subsumed by the aggressiveness of Islam. In the US, people take it more seriously. But the exoteric *religion* of Christianity is mostly just man-made bullshit. That's what organised religion is. It is perverted and corrupted by humanity. Fear is the controlling mechanism.
So I would say the best option is an innate belief in God (or esoteric Christianity), without the intermediary bullshit which is humanity and its religious perversions (And that includes guilt and shame around sex).
I don't think this is a question that has an answer; it's unique to the individual.
Some people find comfort and happiness in their spirituality/religion/faith, and some prefer a lack of faith. It all depends on the way that particular person views their world.
I'm not a spiritual person, myself, and don't believe in God, so for me, athiesm is a more natural state of being, and the one in which I am most content. I realize that sounds absurd to one who's religion is a cornerstone of their existence, but it's the one that works for me.
Likewise, I find religion absurd, but I don't begrudge others their beliefs, if that's how they prefer to live their lives. It's not my place to judge them for that, and I respect their beliefs, even though I don't share them.
neither of them really offer you anything of the sort...
they make you responsible for your own choices and decision... no freebies in life
other than that... I've seen some of the happiest people ever on both sides, but the same goes for the most insufferable people I've ever met... met them on both sides of that "equation"
so yeah... it's within you, well within them... and so many other factors as well, not just which religion you follow, or not follow
Between the two, I would say atheism.
Christians are often judgmental and bigoted. They use interpretations of the Bible to justify all kinds of bad things.
They don't think for themselves and think morality comes from fear of retribution.
They are sexually inhibited and misogynistic.
Atheism doesn't necessarily mean lack of spirituality. It can mean reverence for all creation and being glad to be alive without believing in the "God of Abraham".
which denomination? i am not 'charismatic' but charismatic are happiest denomination. baptist are not allowed to dance. see my question with nate silver study!
I think it's obvious if you're around atheists vs Christians.
I have no clue. My environment is full of muslims. You tell me.
atheists are miserable for the most part.
Okay but which denomination is best?
It's not about "best".
What is it about then?
It's about a relationship with Christ. Confessing and repenting for your sins. Trying to live according to God's rules.
