I personally am agnostic and while I have no problem with most atheist, I do have a problem with atheist who are arogant and start hating on anyone who believes in a higher power. That's who I truly hate. However, I hate people on the other extreme as well. I believe that if there is a supreme power that is fair and just, he would understand their point of view and give them a chance to repent.

If God is this being that enjoys destroying people based on their limited views, I'd like to die free than live under his dictatorship. But I want to believe that he is merciful and understanding.

I understand that, but a lot of atheist aren't technically sinners. They aren't committing crimes or violating any of God's laws. They have a wife, maybe kids, and are responsible members of society. To just explicitly say that God will punish them all is very extreme and not at all merciful. If the label of your belief was enough to save you, just think of all those people in jail who still believe they're Christians even after what they did. If God is merciful, he will judge based on each individuals actions, not by what their overall belief is.

Atheism isn't anything unless you're viewing it from the standpoint of religious belief. One atheist can have completely different views to another.
It's pointless to group atheists together because other than not believing in God, they won't necessarily have anything else in common.

I think atheism is a good stepping stone of figuring out what your beliefs truly are. I myself am agnostic, since I'm not going to deny the chance of there being one, but I still follow the traditions of most Christians.
