Other than Galileo, what proof is there that Christianity opposes science?

What proof is there that Christianity opposes science, other than Galileo? And has anyone ever even bothered to get the Church's side of the story?

At any rate, here are a few examples of Catholic Saints who either were trained scientists or were even pioneers in their respective fields...

• Saint Luke, one of the four Gospel writers, was a physician.
• Saint Giuseppe Moscati (1880-1927) was a medical doctor who helped spread the use of insulin to treat diabetes, is considered a pioneer of biochemistry, and a daily Mass attendee who treated the poor without charge or cost.
• Saint Albert the Great (1200-1280) wrote extensively on, among other subjects, minerology, his magnum opus perhaps being the Liber de mineralibus ("Book of Minerals"; still cited today, so far as I've found). He was also the primary instructor of Saint Thomas Aquinas, one of the most influential philosophers in history.
• Blessed Nicholas Steno (1638-1686) converted from Lutheranism to Catholicism and is regarded as the father of modern geology, pioneering the law of stratigraphy. He was ordained a priest in 1675 and later became a bishop.
• Servant of God Jerome Lejune (1926-1994) was a French pediatrician and geneticist who discovered that the cause of Down's Syndrome was an extra copy of chromosome 21. He was also a very devout Catholic and vocally opposed abortion.
• Servant of God Paul Takashi Nagai (1908-1951) converted to the Catholic Church in 1934 from atheism. He was a medical doctor and was an early researcher in radiology.
• Blessed Guadalupe Ortiz (1916-1975) had a PhD in chemistry.
• Saint Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was a German Benedictine mystic, polymath, and abbess who wrote two great works on medicine and causes of various diseases (which, so far as I've found, are still cited today) called Physica and Causae et curae.

This list is NOT exhaustive, by the way. And this also is to say nothing of the many philosophers that the Church has recognized.

first of all... funny how you say "other than Galileo" as if he was the only one that was persecuted by the Church... the list of "scientists" targeted by the Church is not short at all, and it can be found easily, lol

second... also funny how this is categorized as "opposing science" by Christianity, because...

you know very well that there has been hundreds if not thousands of different institutions and "rulers" of Christianity, and/or churches... most notable, Christians and Catholics, and even among them... the dozens upon dozens of many rulers with so many different approaches... it's been centuries of change and not all of them were the same

third... the approach to this is not so much as to "oppose science" but to demonize knowledge as "paganism, witchcraft, savagery, primitive, sacrilege" and what not because it was just scientists, philosophers and other religious people of different denominations, as individuals... there were entire cultures, countries, nations, regions that were systematically attacked, decimated, and even deleted, erase... and the examples are also, many...

along with the burning of "sacrilegious and pagan literature" they also burned the books of medicine, math, astronomy, philosophy, history... and what not

everything and anything that was not "their word" was burned down to ashes, if possible

religions do not oppose science, they also USE science to control the people, just like they do with many other things

1) I didn't say Galileo was the only one. I'm sure there are others, but he is the only example I ever see brought up. And I'd think that most people would be able to conclude that, considering that the Church has both canonized AND condemned men and women of science that the issue is not the science itself, but what they were teaching about either science or Catholic belief. It's quite literally not rocket science.

2) I don't know what you're getting at with the second point. I said "opposing science" because I see it all the time..."I believe in science and reality and not silly fairy tales". So you'll need to explain your point there.

And 3) on the "to demonize knowledge" bit... you'll need to explain that one a bit further as well.

I asked "what of it". Meaning I'd like to know what you're getting at with it. I perhaps should have responded by asking whether heresy is or even should be a concern for Church and, if the political setup called for it, civil authorities. And that is regardless of whether the heresy was being claimed by a biologist, astronomer, miller, textile... er, or really, just anyone.

And again, I truly don't know where you're going with the point on knowledge.

According to many scientists many have claimed that the more you learn about science the easier it is to believe there's a god, I think at this point it's all based on perspective and someone can subconsciously choose what to see and what not to see.

Darwinism is an interesting one. At the time Christians loved the book as they saw it as a glimpse into the mind of God. It wasn't until much later when fanatics in the USA denounced it as anti God their was any problem.

Even today virtually all the opposition to science comes from a small band of politically motivated extremists.
