Does Christianity conflict with science? Are there places where the Bible contradicts, for example, the theory of evolution?

Not exactly.

1, Miracles don't deny that nature also usually happens. That is the point of a "sign" that usually not a miracle. A virgin birth does not deny biology.

2, But claiming "only biology" is baseless mocking. You can't know "nothing besides biology is possible ".

Now the bible DID say in genesis chapter 1, god made man from dirt... hard to believe but...

knowing number of chromosomes, dirt is the only plausible possibility.

If you know what happens to chromosomes in reproduction a "common ancestor" is impossible. Period. Unless god did a miracle which doesn't fit the atheist faith!

Christianity is more politics and cult, than religion, kiddo.

But religion and science have different purviews. Just like a doctor isn't a "bigger" professional than a lawyer. Both have their place and expertise.

Science cannot tell you what is wrong or right, only the facts and information. Religion cannot make you a gun or ammo, only science and engineering can do that.

Does Christianity? Depends on your flavor of Christianity. Does the Bible? Yes clearly.

Genesis 1:1-3 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light." God created the earth prior to creating light. This is not scientifically true because the sun formed prior to the Earth as earth was formed on the sun's accretion disk.

Genesis 1:6-7 "6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so." This is not scientifically accurate because outer space is not filled with water as ancient peoples believed. Outer space is a vacuum and water is pretty sparse out there.

Genesis 1:9-12 "9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds." The concept of kinds doesn't make sense in a biological sense. The rest is vague enough to be fine.

Genesis 1:14-18 "14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good." Our star is quite a young one. It formed after many had lived full lives and died. Our star preexisted the earth and vegetation and land. The moon is not a light. More like a mirror. Shouldn't be referenced the same as the Sun.

Genesis 1:20-21 "20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." The kind thing still doesn't make sense in an evolutionary context. The order is also all wonky. There are certain marine animals that moved to land and returned to sea. Land animals (tetrapods) and reptiliamorphs-archosaurs would've preceded birds proper.

Genesis 1:24-26 "24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Livestock existing prior to someone to domesticate is a bit humorous. Again the order is goofy see the last for the creation order issues. Same on kinds.

Many Christian sects say that Genesis is allegory, or just a narrative interpolation of the events. Etc. The creationists and literalists though have a problem in trying to reconcile the literal text with science.

Religion and science don't contradict each other. And really, they can't. The main reason is because they have different roles and scopes of authority, focus, and study. Science is concerned with how the natural world works. Religion concerns man's relation to the divine, the supernatural, as well as our obligations and responsibilities. In short, science considers the "how", whereas religion considers the "why".

For another thing, "science" is a very vague and general term. The definition of the word "science" is "a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws." This includes the hard sciences like biology, chemistry, and so forth, but also sociology, psychology, physics, and others. And yes, it even includes theology. So the definition alone of "science" excludes the idea that the concept of science is somehow opposed to religion and faith.

The thing of it is, Science doesn’t debunk God or prove God’s existence. Christianity is not proving God’s existence rather than having faith that there is a God & there is a spot and a place of solace with a future for you that is beautiful because it is God’s divine plan.

God would be like a computer programmer where the building blocks like Atoms, Neutrons, Electrons, etc. make up greater things and the Laws of Physics & the Universe all are based on God’s “program”(I don’t believe we live in a simulation, it is just the best way to describe it). Scientists by analyzing fossils, carbon dating, looking through powerful microscopes & studying the rules of the Universe are finding God’s creation or perhaps there is no God though we are figuring out the Universe as it is. It is all up in the air.

I don't think the Bible does conflict with the concept of evolution. Why can't it be that God created life and then life evolved? He may have created humans and also other forms of life and they evolved from there.

Let me explain why even science cannot make a direct link between apes and humans for example. Maybe there never was one. Maybe God created different creatures that evolved into apes and also created humans.

I don't think there's necessarily a conflict there.

And I think that applies to the larger issue too. I think God may be the big answer and science may be the small answer. Science explains some processes that happen but cannot explain the big things like how the universe was created or even create a simple life. It may take God to create those things. So can they coexist without conflict. It seems to me they can.

Religion is a discipline just like philosophy, the Arts, and "science." I actually don't think they contradict because I take my spiritual beliefs on faith. I do not need to answer every contradication. I believe science to the extent I need to, and the stories of the Bible I take on faith because of every person's need to believe in something beyond themselves, that validates the soul.

Yes, and it's meant to be that way. The Bible from my understanding has always explained that the miracles and heavenly events described in it are supernatural. Like there's obviously no way the red sea is splitting naturally. That's why you have to have faith to be a Christian. It's never worth the time or effort to argue science and religion. They aren't the same and never will be.
