I’m exceedingly intelligent and a historian. Ice can burn as well. In hell the properties of fire are different than on earth. The people there will wish for death and the fire will not consume them. That’s as best in know to say it.

The old testament refers to sheol, an underworld of darkness similar to hades or xibalba. Gnosticism considers the world we inhabit, to be hell. The new testament refers to it being a lake of fire, but some sects consider hell to be a void, cut off from god, harkening back to the old testament.

So when you want to say only the bibles words matter, you gotta be awfully specific because those are all foundational Christian theology, and all predate the new testament.

Here's a question I like to ask: If Christianity is only 2,000 some odd years old, what happened to everyone who lived and died before then? Are they ALL in hell, or did God cut them some slack because "they didn't know yet?".

Don’t know for sure? Jesus Himself talked about it more than anyone else in the Bible. He even talked about eternal fire. That’s how much He didn’t want anyone to go there.

God created hell for the devil and fallen angels. Jesus said that “Jesus answered, Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father?” - John 14:9 NIV Jesus was God, they are simultaneously the same. I don’t know how to explain it further, it’s beyond human understanding. I hope this helps.
