Was having a discussion with @ez about the word weird, and a new concept and it occurred to me...
I think Christianity when first learned and to this day as a follower and believer, is "weird". Maybe beyond weird.. Get this...
Jesus was born of a virgin... not a woman raped on her way to Emmaus, but of the Holy Spirit which in concept didn't exist then. Visited by an angel that said this kid gonna be special have him, and her boyfriend, whom she hadn't been with got a similar message to stay with her... in a culture where that is as insulting as it gets... stay with a pregnant woman with some other persons kid? That be Joseph.
Hang on... it gets weird... the kid is super good at interpreting scripturs and knew better than the scholar, probably told he was a special kid and really dug into humanity. He ends up figuring out, by inspriation, how to deal a fatal blow to what ails humanity and concocting a something either by plan or by unfolding plan... and succeeds!
He is murdered, and raised to life and people see him after that... super weird beliefs! The report that to the extent they are willing to go to miserable deaths attesting to it. That's beyond weird, but they at least had to believe it.
And millions believe this stuff and say it changes their lives and such. Ain't that weird?
Some say it's all lies, but so much history, it's hard for scholars to trip up or convince other studied people. It's pretty solid, weird, as far as I know.
I'll refrain from quoting all the weird stuff they say and think...

Question is... are you weird too?

Sure, but every attempt to explain the unexplained seems weird, especially in hindsight.
The “Big Bang”: a magical explosion that created all matter and energy even though the same scientists who rely on the theory cannot explain what caused the magical explosion or how it directly defies the laws of physics that they abide without exception.
But wait… there’s more!
The universe is supposedly pure chaos, despite the fact that we observe order so frequently that we can predict it and duplicate our observations. The “scientific method” literally relies entirely upon repeatability of results…. in a universe of pure chaos. Similarly, life sprang forth from nothing at all. You think spontaneous conception is weird? The prevailing theory suggests that ALL life is spontaneous, not just one pregnancy. You should probably sit down for this next part.
The same scientists who believe all of that will also tell you that genetic diversity is an absolute necessity to the proliferation of all species. Yet all species on Earth are descendants of the same single cell organism. That single cell organism had an ancestor that is equally related to the flora of its time. So every human isn’t just related to every other human. Every living organism all throughout time is directly related to every other living organism all throughout time. Going back to the theory of abiogenesis, you are directly related to the dirt your home is built on. You might even be related to a meteorite that hasn’t even struck the planet yet.
How’s that for weird?
Hold onto your butt!
The scientific method is basically forming an educated guess and then setting about to disprove that guess. Until someone actually does disprove that guess, it becomes the prevailing theory. For the record, nobody has disproved creation. The “Big Bang” is such a fantastical concept that it might as well be said to have been an act of God or some other unfathomably intelligent and powerful creator. People who consider themselves “science minded” have tried and failed repeatedly to disprove creation. Yet they claim that it’s not a valid theory. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like i said, “weird” is unavoidable when you’re trying to explain the unexplained.
It is. But weirdly enough it's the only thing that makes sense when you really dig into it.
And i know you're going to say, "that's a cult". Give away all you posessions and come follow me. "That's REALLY a cult". I am the way the truth and the life. Nobody comes to the father except through me. "That is totally a cult"!
But most cults fail at some point. Why is this still going 2000 years. Later? Why is it still growing? Because it's the real deal. One only need look at G@G. The pain, the anger, the disarray, the lashing out at others, the mocking, because the human heart cries out for Gods love all while so many mock his existence. I've been a Christian for over 20+ years. And i'm STILL learning! I wish more people understood this. Being christian doesn't mean you all of a sudden understand everything. It just means you surrender your will to God's because you realize you cannot do it without him. And along the way you realize how empty your heart was and you didn't know it before you asked God to come into it and rule it. Just when i think i Understand God he teaches me something else about him, and myself. And unfortunately even after 20+ years. He has to do it with me resisting all the way. I want him as my lord and savior. But i don't want to do the growth that is necessary to better understand his will. Why can't he just be the magic genie God and answer prayers like granting wishes? Because that doesn't fix the root problem in mine or others lives. And God ALWAYS wants what's best for us. We just have such a mortal view of what that is. This year has been one of the most difficult years of my life. I fon't know that i'd have gotten through it without God.
The Bible quotes Jesus saying saying, "The kingdom of God is within you".
Religions focus on experts who "interpret" texts and create rules, placing religion between us and the divine. Religions, with their rituals, beliefs and rules become false idols. They lead to judgementalism, divisiveness and hate. They keep us from recognizing the divine in ourselves and others.
Agree w that and agree with Jesus.
Weird?
How weird can any form of spirituality be if I compare it to people telling us that we're riding, without even feeling it or seeing it, on a giant spheroid endlessly spinning and cruising through space at an impossible speed... I feel like it's quite a weird story we've been told.
Yet I believe in this story.
Also, looking at similarities between religions, stories told by the Bible and stories told by ancient Greeks or earlier , I'm pretty certain that no original scripture really exists. That it's a material built, layers upon layers, evolving through times, cultures and civilizations, with a purpose that is less about God than it is to teach morality in a somewhat entertaining way and tie people together around the same core background
Yeap. By default, they believe the following
Yes! All good literal translations... the reason there's 23,000 interpretations and counting.
You've never had a "voice from above" ... like voice from inside? experience? that will be my next question.
Nope. Especially not from your god.
It's more not my god, but a god you could relate comes from same voice you read about in New Testament. Sorry to hear that.
Sorry for what?
You haven't gotten that calling, but maybe for the best, it's not an easy path.
Why would you be sorry for that? Should I be sorry you haven't gotten the call from my gods and goddesses?
As a Hindu.
Christianity is weird.. but it is not bad.
In Sanatana, We Say cult or system that Strives to be better and Morally sound and works on self improvement is a Good one.
Christianity was once bad, Until people started making their own communities and ways to interpret Bible. TheynPeople choose a better Path and true path of Kindness..
Preaching of Christ aren't Bad, But Some Christian extremist can be Bad but most are good.
And their Bible does not say to wage war and kill non believers, or Rape their women and keep slaves.. So It's far better than some others.
Besides, Christians can be reasoned with and they Try to argues with logic of their Bible.. Unlike some who will slit your throat after starting an Argument 😂 if they don't win.
I would Rather have a Christian Neighbour.. even if the Guy is Weird.
WEIRD IS GLADLY WELCOME. Threat isn't Welcome
I really like your answers and how you think Nik1hil, very rational, reasonable.
Because it's core is love and reconnection to God, extended to others. That's not the core of other belief (s). Jesus tried to save all he could.
Another religion can lie and decieve in effort to overthrow the others. If do that as a matter of practice in Christ, they throw ya out.
Thank you for sharing!
Exactly, Christians are striving to be better..
Christians are not Striving to follow a Book.
They Use Bible as Compass to find Direction of their Morality, but they don't consider the Bible their Whole World, Just Like Hindus Use Bhagwad Gita.
Christians strive to Live better life, and That is What everyone wants... Although they do Panic and scare in uncertain situations too quick, but it's a personal thing not a Religious thing..
Also Christianity is Good because they don't Have Apostasy Law , or blasphemy Law.
This Gives people freedom to Question God & Also Leave Christianity. Which is The only way to Cure Someone who is Losing faith in God.
Once that Person gets to Walk without God , He travels alone , and He eventually Falls, and When he Has Tested his Limits, and it's Not enough.. Them he looks up to the Father in Heaven and Finds his FAITH.
This Renewed Faith Wasn't Injected in him by His parents or By Church. This Faith was The Blessing of God upon him.. and It can Never be Removed, This Faith is what makes Someone Permanently Loyal to God.. That Person no Longer Needs a Book to live their life by. They no longer need Guidance, instead they Become Capable of Guiding others..
And in my opinion that person is a True Christian, Who Found his Faith by himself and Wasn't given by his parents.
Well said and I've been so fortunate to live that reality. It wasn't imposed upon me, I chose it and pursued and saw, and learned. Others have not and are free to explore, reject. Essence of freedom which founded the country.
A core pillar of the country that should be entry requirements. The problem is we welcome, or import any group regardless of thinking, and that leads to troubles other countries have seen.
Hmm...
True FAITH Requires Rejecting as Part of it..
Freedom to Rejection of faith, Brings potential to clear out the cluttered idea, and Set in a Strong faith with Immovable Foundation..
Same in Hinduism at Age 13 I rejected my Faith and went on to study and see other religions and Science.. I ended up in Leaked Document of USA Government, Mentioning Details of "The Doman" an Intergalactic Empire of "The Eternal Order" it had many Symbols amoung which One was Swastik of Hinduism.. there were Much more data I came across..
Which sent me Spiralling down, and finding my faith back to Sanatan..
I cannot reveal more info since it was classified and it all got scraped of internet around 2015 when tor**** went down..
In 2015 when tor0re0nt went down..
And 'The Eternal order" Literally Translated to the word "Sanatan Dharma" the Core From which Hinduism - Buddhism- Jainism - Sikhism are born off
ok, never heard that. I've seen the swastik type design in Buddhism, it has it's meaning. Peopel would have started out with symbols to communicate.
I much prefer evaluations of the heart which is what Jesus was driving at. To me it's as simple (or complex) as this... were separated from God (love) by our beliefs. Faith jumps over that mess and reconnects us, so we can function as our better loving selves. We are then sent on mission to save others from being trapped in a miserable world. It's a difficult job, not hopeless, good work. I find a lot of truth.
I'm sure there's other roots to humanity's coming about and different views.
Since you are on the subject of women, what one believes and thus how they think and behave will be relevant thing to explore when one catches you, or you catch them.
Peace!:)
LOL, you're ill informed and weird.
Jesus was born of a virgin, there were many people in history who were before too. But the thing about Jesus was that he actually did do some of the stuff alleged of him - else He and his mother would have been stoned to death as per Jewish Halacha law at the time.
The rest of your autistic fantasizing isn't worth writing in even wattpad.
is everything that you don't think is what you like weird? do you believe that what you believe is the only way? If so, you're belittling the entire reason you're belittling this thing, and that is exactly what you're doing. why is Christianity the easy target? Why not Islam and Muslims, or Judaism and Jews, or any other religion or their followers. It's basically the same principle.
every thing is weird
so am I
100% right! There is no non weird right? Thing is, the word weird can feel bad to some, maybe even many, I think because it feels like they are being excluded or different, when in reality, we are all "weird".
water is weird... so is light
and we trust them both with our lives...
It was definitely weird in its time
