So I have three examples of when I think my crush was complimenting me

1) He was telling me that he can’t be bothered to talk to other people. I said, “well I must be pretty awesome if you’re talking to me” and he said “yes, absolutely, you passed the test with flying colours”. However, when he said this, he didn’t make eye contact when normally he holds eye contact

2) He was saying that his mum didn’t like his beard, and he said to her “I’m half of you so I have your looks”. I said, “I’m glad that I didn’t get my dads beak of a nose, I have my mums eyes” and he replied with, “you’re blessed then”

3) He was talking about how exotic the weather was. I said, “I’d put my bikini on but think everyone would be visually offended”. As soon as I said this, he started to walk off, but he smiled and said “you’re chatting shit, you are”

Was he complimenting me in these situations and was he subtly hinting that he finds me attractive?

I seen messages of him complimenting a girl he was with before me. So I lied and said I saw messages (they didn’t exist) saying you hated mines and preferred hers and he said what I’ve seen is out of context and him being funny. We had a bad break up and he hated me.

He said to me he preferred me and all his friends knew that. When we were together he would always want sex off me and was so annoyed I’d reject him a lot. He said he never stopped looking at me and if he wanted to this ex still really wanted him he could have had her if he wanted to. Which is true.

But he would rarely compliment me and if it was it was always about my bum. He went on and on about how big it was etc. but to get more than that I had to ask.

He said I knew how hot I was so he didn’t want to compliment me and everyone knows I’m hot and my ego is huge. I get a lot of attention and people messaging me and he was jealous. He didn’t get attention and I did. He said I was so big headed with this (I wasn’t) so he didn’t like complimenting me

He said look at his instagram following and the models he follows they all have my body type which is true they do. And he told me he watched porn with girls with my exact body type and I looked so much like them. Which is also true.

She had the opposite body to me I’m smaller boobs a small c cup and big bum and she had bigger boobs and a really small bum. He’s always said his type is big bums and she doesn’t care about boobs. But “bigged hers up” and found them perfect.

Did he hate my body and prefer her?

I have a huge crush on a guy and we get on well. We always make strong eye contact and most mornings he says good morning to me first. I sometimes catch him staring at me.

This morning, I noticed that he has more or less shaved his beard off.

I complimented him and said it looks nice. He said “thank you” but then kept saying he didn’t like it, his mum doesn’t like it etc. as if to seek constant reassurance. He said that he’d said to his mum “I am half of you so I have your looks”.

I said that I’m glad I don’t have my dad’s nose because it’s a beak. I then said I have my mums eyes.

He said “you’re blessed then”

Was he subtly complimenting my looks? Does he think I’m attractive? What did he mean?

I like you a lot, and he gets annoyed when im unavailable or not calling, giving compliments and all that, i dint care much but i dont like it when people lie- he is on hinge and i found out and screamed at him called him a liar, and that he had me fooled and he tried to explain but i was furious so he ghosted and then later when i said its fine if you dont wanna talk- he said he will when “he is ready to”- why are men so fickle? Just few days before- he was all lovey dovey- whats wrong with men seriously?

Ok, so true story, a good guy friend of mine once sat at our favorite bar and "outlined" all my attributes for me in a way that was just matter-of-fact, like a lawyer making a case for his client. In closing, he said, "... I've known all this since the first time I saw you. You just light up the room as soon as you walk into it, without doing anything at all. Any guy who can't see and feel that is nuts." He held up his Macallan and toasted me, which made me laugh and nudge him. It was very sweet and meant to get me out of the funk of the nasty things people were saying about me being a divorcee, etc.

Today's the anniv of his passing (RIP 2020, COVID), so he's on my mind. I didn't reject his incredible compliment, but I didn't really accept them and let them sink in till this month. Since this heart to heart five years ago I've had lots of compliments about different things and I always automatically deflect them as something kind the other person is saying. I don't take it to heart. Sometimes if a person goes on and on about something I did I'll blush, quietly thank the person and outline THEIR qualities, indicating that if I'm good at something it's because I have the benefit of working with THEM (which I also truly believe... no one really stands alone 100%). This morning I receive a compliment and I let it sink in a little... to my heart... and it was a great feeling. I think my friend sent this person my way with a kind word because I was feeling glum and remembering all our chats before he passed on...

Anyway, I got to thinking... how many of us don't know how to accept a compliment?
