In light of the increase of topics in the category "is this a good enough excuse?" I was wondering here, what kind of person you are. Not really concerned about excusing oneself out of texting or something insignificant, rather concerned about the bigger picture.

There are two kinds of excuses of which the first one is not really an excuse: I am talking about emergencies, of course. The "good enough" excuse you are in search of, to whomever feels concerned, is a lie. YOU are a LIAR! I am also not going to divide lies into groups such as serious lies and emergency lies. No, that's not the point.

Do you tell lies because you are afraid to speak the truth? That in and of itself is understandable, however, your little habit of lying will fester and grow into a more serious problem. An example: If you were late for work because a giant dinosaur was blocking the freeway, that's fine, that happens sometimes, what is not fine is if the same dinosaur just happens to be right at that spot whenever you are coming for work.

Surely, everybody has their own reasons for telling lies, but let's make it simple.

My question is: Are you one to tell the truth?
Answer "Yes" if you are always aware of the consequences of what you say and you speak the truth, regardless.
Answer "No" if you lack the sense of responsibility and tell lies for personal gain and/or to avoid having to do your duty.
As for me:
Yes, I speak the truth. No matter what problems I have, I don't hide behind lies. People depend on me, I depend on the people I work with - honesty is the only way for a stress-free day of work and more importantly, the only way to live.
