Search Results: annoying people

It's really quite annoying to see an interesting question. Type out a response. Only to discover that someone has apparently blocked you for some reason or another. Can the settings be changed so that it doesn't show me that?

When I was in Chile, people would randomly start talking to me in Portuguese because they assumed I was from Brazil. And in Antalya, they would automatically assume I was Russian and start talking to me in Russian.

I wasn't offended or even annoyed, I just thought it was so stupid and ignorant of them to think only people from those countries visit those places. The Antalya one was even weirder, because there are tons of tourists from the UK as well.

What about yourself? Have YOU ever assumed someone's nationality and started talking to them in a certain language?

Sometimes if I'm in a foreign country, it's hard to tell who's a local and who isn't, so it's natural to start talking the local language to people. Or sometimes locals will talk to people in their local language.

But to just assume someone is a "specific" nationality, seems quite ignorant and stupid to me.
