My boyfriend and I broke up several days ago. We were together for 3 yr. I suspected that he’s been seeing this girl we work with and called him out on it. No one knows we’re together because it’s a sticky situation with the hierarchy of our positions. They seemed to be flirting and he was suddenly being rude to me. He has a track record for not being honest with me and so I am already on edge about how close their relationship is. They always sit together and share food, etc. and the day that ended it, he basically ignored me and told me he doesn’t care how I feel. So I walked into their office and told him I’m upset and that I’m done right in front of the two of them. And walked out. This made him so mad that he dumped me. A day or two later, I message him how hurt I felt and he simply replied that I’m too much stress in his life and that he’ll never get back with me ever again. Basically he’s over me. A few days go by and no contact. I get to work and I see him but try to avoid him because I’m heartbroken. He says hi to my colleagues and I. I said nothing. He came back when they walked out of the room, he put his hand on my shoulder and said… I’ll be the bigger person, good morning. I just said hi back. An hr or two later, I asked him if we could talk later. His reply “sure but it won’t change anything.” And I was taken back. I told him that I’m not trying to get him back or beg him to be with me. And then I left. This made me sick to my stomach and to make matters worse, he again is openly flirting with her. So I told him I’m sick and need to go home. He said ok. He came over to me and put his hand on my back and rubbed it saying he hopes that I feel better. It was awkward and totally mixed signals. I finished up my work and left. He texts me, “I hope you feel better” and on top of it, he casually messaged my sister whom he rarely talks to. I’m not sure what to make of this. He tells me he’s done but his gestures and talking to my sister. What do u think?

I have a family friend who lives in another state
We’ve gotten closer and we’ve been texting almost everyday since August. He notices when something is wrong via text and he constantly encourages me when nursing school gets overwhelming. In September I told him, I liked him and he said that he’s proud that I’m being honest about my feelings but he’s not ready (He’s a first year resident doctor, not making excuses just stating it’s an overwhelming situation). And he hopes that his response will not affect our relationship because he really appreciate me. After that, we just carried on and kept on doing what we were doing b4 I told him I liked him. He tells me about his work, his new hobbies, he sends me pictures of his hair and his new glasses and he asked me to help him name his plants. He listens to me rant, even though he’s tired and just got back from work. He pays attention and remembers important dates I tell him, he wishes me luck before every exam and test. Recently we didn’t talk for two weeks because I had finals and honestly I was kind of isolating and he was sick and didn’t reach out but to make it up to me,
He said he was going to get me an end of semester/Christmas present and asked what I wanted. I feel like he likes me but I don’t want to have any False hope or anything.

I've personally known this guy for 5 months. I initiated conversation first and followed him first. We began texting each other and I ended up asking him out. Even though he agreed, he canceled on me twice. Despite him eventually telling me that he wasn't ready for a relationship and wanted to be friends, we still would text each other, a few times for hours til the early morning. He did admit to liking me and being attracted to me. One of the last things he texted me was, "although I was supposed to go to bed, know I'm thinking about you and I care about you".

A week later in person, I asked him, "How would you feel if you were to never see me again? How would you feel if we never spoke again?" His response was, "To be honest, I don't know how I would feel. I don't know". I just nodded my head and moved on. But what does this mean when a guy says this?
