I've definitely thought this before. ill assume someone doesn't like me for some reason and then when i finally chat with them it turns out they actually thought i was cool or nice or something. So the complete opposite. i've gotten better at not mind reading people like that but i still gotta work on that.

I've been hanging out with a female friend I've known for about 30 years. We're both in our 40s. Neither one of us is married, but she has a daughter from prior relationship. One night when we were hanging out, she asked me if I was going to church the next day since it was a Sunday.

This opened up a conversation about religion and what we each believed. I explained I grew up going to church, played bass guitar in church for the kids, etc. I explained that I hadn't been to church in a long time, but I still consider myself Christian.

I asked if she was Catholic since she had mentioned that before, and she confirmed she was. I said my dad's side of the family is Catholic (mom's side is more protestant) but the only time I went to mass is when my paternal grandmother took me one time.

She asked if I had been baptized. I said the funny thing about that is I have memories of being baptized at a very young age, but for some reason I have memories that I wasn't baptized for some reason.

We then talked about the schools we went to. My parents sent me to Baptist school until jr. high and high school when I decided to go to public school while my sisters went on to Catholic high school. She asked why I didn't want to go to Catholic school. I said it's not that I didn't want to go. I chose public school, because a lot of my friends at the time were going there.

Do you think she was gauging whether we are religiously compatible?
