Obviously for a red-eye flight or something very early or late at night I get it, but it amazes me that during the day everyone closes the windows, no one wants to see the takeoff or the landing, to me. This is such a miracle of modern times, and of course I like to read during the flight which makes it annoying if I'm the only person on the plane with a light on. How do you feel?

I'm in the very early stages of seeing this girl and she's mostly fantastic, but she does a few things that just seem a bit controlling.

It's not particularly big stuff, but it's stuff I notice.

Like she won't let me chat with other women in our friend group alone. Especially not if she picks up any kind of friendly or playful energy between us. She'll force herself into the conversation, if I don't invite her over. I can see her get increasingly annoyed until she just does it herself.

She'll also hide it from me if she's hanging out with other guys, but she'll tell me honestly if I ask. There's nothing romantic though, I know she's genuinely just friends with them.

She does some other things too, but I'm sure you get the idea.

My first wife was a smoker. I hated it and she eventually would go outside to smoke. After a few years, she quit because she needed surgery and the surgeon wouldn't proceed until she had stopped for at least 30 days. After our divorce, I never again dated a smoker.

"It's like kissing an ashtray" is a cliche, but it's true. And she smelled bad unless she had not smoked since taking a shower. And. . . my perception is that most smokers - men and women - are oblivious to the rights of others and don't care if their smoke is annoying you or triggering a migraine headache.

So. . . never again for me. How about you?
