Last night, I popped out from my desk enthusiastically, filled with excitement. My wife asked me, "What's wrong? What happened?" I looked at her and said, "I just planned out my vacation days for 2017!"

So, I went through the list with her.

10 vacation days, 11 holidays.

My wife was like, "That's so messed up. My boss or office would be pissed. They would never allow me to do that. In fact, I did that once around Christmas and right after Christmas the company issued a policy prohibiting the use of any vacation days less than 3 business days before or after Christmas."

Now, granted, she's an accountant, people don't usually call her up with "emergencies," and her busy season is very predictable. But that's not the boat I'm on.

I've tried taking 9 days off straight, a traditional "vacation," and that was for my wedding. I couldn't even get married in peace. I checked my phone after the ceremony, and I have work related missed calls. Before and after the wedding, calls and emails would just not stop. When I came back to the office after being away for just 9 days, it was like a post apocalyptic movie. My inbox looked like a stream of endless zombies from Resident Evil I. My desk looked like the streets in 28 Days Later. It was complete chaos that took me over two months before I had things under control again. Plus, it was a shitty vacation too, constantly being anxious and bothered by work.

Studies show that taking "shorter" but "more frequent" vacations or breaks actually helps recharge and rebalance your energy and mental focus.

Hi folks,

I'm 23 years old and I have been doing what I love with free time and financial freedom from my own business for almost 4 years.

Those years I was single not for a choice but because I was way too busy and so broke at the same time. I had to do things I now regret, but now I know I had to go through to get where I am.

5 months ago I met this charming, beautiful and intellectual woman which I love from all my heart. I take her with her problems even though they might hurt me sometimes.

Not a long time ago a very stressful event happened and she didn't have the nerves to handle it as good as I did, she ended up twice in the hospital for having panic attacks. She since have been prescribed an antianxiety pill to regain control whenever one of those would happen (if so) again.

I paused the business for weeks for her to regain control of herself. I then slowly started without telling her and now that I told her she said she would allow me some time to sell the business instead of ending it quick at a loss.

She says I either accept this or she'll have to go because she can't deal with such stress in her life.

I currently live in a condo with her, we share every single moment of our lives together except the ones where I see she won't fit (anxiety-causing).
