I created a poll to see what most people think.

Here is my opinion. Getting rid of that the downvote/dislike feature has really watered down the experience when reading comments about other peoples opinions.

You just don’t know which comments are more unpopular when it comes to controversial questions and takes. Seeing unpopular comments gives you a better idea of what is popular.

I have posted unpopular opinions in past that were disliked by multiple people. Whoop te do. It happens. I didn’t lose sleep over it and anybody who feels “heartbroken” over being downvoted really doesn’t belong on GAG. It isn’t “bullying” to dislike a comment. So what if people didn’t like my opinion but at least I knew it wasn’t popular.

Also people get in heated debates all the time on here. What do you expect when you bring up often controversial issues about relationships, dating, sex, politics, etc?

I still don’t know why GAG decided to do this. It’s such weak tea and really takes away from the user experience.

A typical thing all the ”experts” mention when talking about dating and “signs that he/she is interested” etc… is that the other person initiates contact with you, preferably as much as you but at least they do it once in a while.

And I agree that it’s a good indicator, cause I would never initiate contact with someone I don’t have any interest to speak with. What kind of interest we can never know from that.

But at least for me, and probably very many others out there, the situation where it’s kind of a never ending contact happens. When it’s always “pingpong”/“call and response”. I send a message, I get response, I reply, they reply etc… and just sometimes there will be a gap until the next afternoon before either me or them replies… but mostly the message isn’t even read and there are obvious reasons for that to have happened. Maybe I or they read/open a message/snap in the evening but don’t reply until the next afternoon… is that a new initiation or is it still just response?

How do we know who is initiating when it never really ends? What are your experiences? Tell me what you think
