Since I'm obsessed with pretty dresses and learning about cultures, I decided to start a MyTake series about beautiful dresses and costumes from around the world, starting with East Asian countries (Countries covered in this MyTake: Japan, China, Korea (North/South).
1) Hanbok - Korea
This traditional Korean dress is often characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets.
2) Qipao - China
Body-hugging one-piece Chinese dress.
3) Kimono- Japan
Kimono are T-shaped, straight-lined robes worn so that the hem falls to the ankle, with attached collars and long, wide sleeves. Kimono are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right and secured by a sash called an obi, which is tied at the back.
There are multiple types and subtypes of kimono that a woman can wear: furisode, uchikake and shiromuku, houmongi, yukata, tomesode, and mofuku, depending on her marital status and the event she attends.
4) Hanfu- China
The Hanfu is the historical dress of the Han Chinese people.
Traditional, Beautiful Dresses From Around the World: East Asian Edition
Kimono is defiantly my favorite a little biased though I love ancient Japanese culture.
Fun fact the Kimono is not actually specifically for women back in ancient Japan men also wore them specifically the warrior classes like the Samurai as well as martial artists and they had more formal versions of it for ceremonies as well as causal ones like the Yukata.
Speaking of East Asian dresses, back when I was in kindergarten I wore a red and gold Qipao dress one day. There was a Chinese kid in my class and during recess time as soon as he saw he bowed, lol. :D I felt very respected, haha. I'll never forget the beautiful reactions people had. Ah, the awesome memories I refuse to forget ❤
Tradition East Asian fashion for women is so damn beautiful to me. Part of me wishes western fashion didn't takeover and we all went with their fashion instead.. *sigh*
