From now on I want non-white people to stop using jeans, phones, television, computers, electricity, cars, calculators, beer, pencils, etc. because it is cultural appropriation.

@chintita They are created by a philosophy, a way of thinking inherint to the culture. Also clothing is apart of culture so yes that would also affect things. None of those things would exist without the western culture because it was what drove people to seek knowledge, its what drove the industrial revolution, a cultural view of the world.

@hellionthesage the west doesn't have a single culture, it's a conglomerate of many cultures. i think u guys r confused on wht OP means. not "u can't use algebra because that's arab culture and ur appropriating it" more like "don't wear cultural attire without having basic respect towards what it's *actual* meaning is"

@chintita Your right they have different cultures however their cultures intersect much more then others do. The reason is because unlike every other group out their that was dead set on insuring the "purity" of their culture (the reason why china and japan closed their boarders because they where the superior culture (all the while the west continued to evolve unlike the east)) the west had no issue with sharing their thoughts and ideas, they worked together sharing their knowledge and philosophies which itself became a part of their shared culture and philosophy. Thats why we have science, otherwise we would still be doign alchemy where no one was willing to share what they learned with any one else. This was a western concept a western philosophy an aspect of western culture which the entire world has benefited from. The issue is once you acknowledge that you have to acknowledge your own so called "appropriations", which would not bode well for the rest of the world.

@hellionthesage so ur saying retaining culture like japan and china made them devolve unlike the west which evolved? western culture is not the benchmark of progress. they still have their lovely language and customs whereas i grew up in a country where everyone speaks a non-native language and took the customs of portugal. we would b better off with the purity of our culture too but now all is lost.. like u prefer right.

@chintita No. You are completely misunderstanding everything. China was at the peak of progress and then they closed themselves off by the time they where forced to open their boarders and expose themselves to other cultures they where so backwards in comparison from their politics to their medicine to their technology. They had small wooden boats while the west had steel ships. The reason was because the west was willing to take the good from other cultures. Science has its basis in alchemy which as the name suggests is was very much a middle eastern ideology (they existed in most cultures but the middle east is where they really flourished). India had mathmatical knowledge (they actually are responsible for the concept of zero) yet the middle east took that and codified that with their own research which is where the western algebra is from (again the name gives it away). The west then took these things and incorporated them into their own culture (as every culture even yours does).

@chintita Then they added to it and built off of it only the rest of the world was content to stay exactly the same to never evolve never change despite the fact that this is the basic premise of advancment the acquisision of new ideas and philosophies. You do not hold on to something because its old or because its tradition you take what works you take that which makes things better. The fact is I have spent my entire life studying mythology and theology and anthropololgy so I am not stating these things should be stamped out, I am saying they need to evolve. You can have your own culture but you need to know that its not really yours, its a coglomeration of many other cultures that came before. To presume it does not owe its existence to the ideas that came before is as ludicris as presuming that modern technology came into existence independently of the technology that came before. Culture survives by assimilation, to not assimilate is to not reproduce and a culture that does not

@chintita "reproduce" ie that is to say influence and impact other cultures and ideologies is highly subject to destruction and annihiliation. This is whats going to happen to most native tribes of north america, they chose to stay separate, they live on their reservations, they do not share their philosophy and in fact currently are fighting to have every vestige of themselves removed from common thought and culture by claiming its racist (like the fighting illini in illinios) so no one knows anything about their people because they didn't share their philosophy in writing, they didn't share it in art, they didn't share it in their festivals and holidays so eventually as their population dwindles they will be forgoten. thats the greatest tragedy of them all and thats exactly what your pruposing. Its stupid and self destructive. This was the greatest strength of the west, their willingness to adapt, the moment they lose that they too will fade from existence.

@chintita You have the choice to wollow in self pity and lose everything or join the world and influence it as much as it influences you. Which one you chose is up to you, if you do not choose then life will do so for you. Its one or the other, no culture has ever survived in any capacity by being xenophobic and isolated.

    I kind of agree...

Like when Kylie Jenner has big lips, it's sexy, but if a black person has big lips, it's ugly.

When Kim K has a big ass it's sexy, when a black person has a big ass it's disgusting.

Other than that, I believe people can wear what they want. :) I mean black people straighten their hair and you don't see white people crying about cultural appropriation. Also they wear blonde wigs or bleach their skin and what not.

Eating pizza isn't necessary for sustenance either. I could eat things that are more "respectful".

"people look stupid and uncultured wearing things like that without knowing the meaning"
So let me get this straight. If I see a girl who is dressed like a slut, I can't slut shame her because it's not ok but it's ok to shame her because she's white and wearing dreadlocks or something?

@JuicyBrain You shouldn't be able to shame ANYONE.

Italians know our history of pizza but we spread that stuff like wildfire since we immigrated globally. I don't enjoy pineapple on pizza but like chintita said - its food and available everywhere.
People still recognise its Italian though. there's a certain respect for Italians unlike black cultures.

Italians don't have a say on what I put on my pizza any more than black people have a say on the clothes I put on or the hair style I wear. They can bitch and moan all they want about it, it doesn't make them any more entitled. It just makes them intolerant and annoying as fuck. It also helps fuel racism.

Like I said DO WHAT YOU WILL. Its your freedom.
You didn't comprehend what I was trying to explain. Nor did you understand my take since you compared it to pizza. I mean PIZZA. Reality can't be your closest ally.

If anything helps fuel racism then those being fuelled have weak minds.

Point is you can't claim cultural appropriation while appropriating other people's culture on a daily basis. The irish are happy to share their culture ie St Patricks day, Guinness, riverdance

      Was said culture RECENTLY disrespected?
If the answer is no - then people obviously don't give a crap. Especially since Guinness has made a fat profit.
The media shaming women for being ghetto one minute then praising a white girl for wearing the same cloth (to make a profit in the name of "edgy" fashion) is pretty sick.
The creators of said accessory are seen as trash and called out on it constantly until someone markets it effectively by removing all blackness to the sheep that is Western society.

Imagine if Guinness was avoided like the plague because it was made and ICONIC to the Irish (chances are this did happen to be fair cause certain areas of England had pubs that banned irish immigrants equally to blacks in the 70s). Then some English fucker stole the brand (avoided any mention of it being irish) and made it cool to the western sheep leaving the original guinness man feeling like he was the problem all along.

Many people are happy to share their culture if it is RECOGNIZED and APPRECIATED.
How is that hard to understand? Eventually there will be no need for politeness because we will have overcome it with education. But for now there is a long way to go

Irish man with obvious irish accent walks in a bar and orders a guinness. Random white guy notices and slurs, " fucking irish. Look at that lazy twat, bet he's using his kids wealthcare to buy that drink. Don't get why they would make themselves look trashy drinking piss"

Few months later, a popular white celebrity is spotted drinking Guinness. It becomes the best selling drink in bars accross town.
Irish guy to his white acquaintance, "I thought you hated guinness"
White guy, "that was before.. now I post a pic on instagram and I get famous. Or if a girl sees me drink it she thinks Im hot. See look!"
Irish guy, "weird when I drank that people assumed I was trash. I even got dismissed at a job interview cause no one told me it was wrong to be seen out drinking Guinness. Its just what my people do"
White guy, "Wow who cares? You can drink it now"
Irish, " I dont get it. Why now?"
White, " Its not really irish no more, stop over reacting. Everyone likes it!"

It'll be very hard to find a culture that hasn't "appropriated"from another culture in world history. Things tend to get around.

Unlike how most people view the ancient world today, civilizations did not grow and exist in shells.
