What is "American Shaming?"

'American Shaming'?

Let us play a game of Word Association:

'Americans'

Ignorant....
Arrogant......
Racist.....
Power hungry....
Gun totting.....
Always right....

Etc..Etc..Etc..

Predominantly negative stereotypes with no basis emanating from people from the outside World.

The delicious irony found in most of what they label Americans applying to them. One could so far to claim it taps into a form of 'shaming' that runs rampant but never gets mention

'American Shaming.'

Most will scoff at the mere suggestion, telling me to 'chill the fuck out' while dismissing it as belonging in the hysterical basket next to 'Drake shaming', 'pet shaming' and 'salad shaming.'

My sarcasm aside, think of the validity of this for a sec.

With its basis centring around how violently regular American folks are misrepresented. Everything about them is judged and sincerely ridiculed by their politics and actions on the World scene.

Case in point- the almost surreal current election between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.

Allow me to cue South Park if you are unfamiliar with the candidates.

Within this seeming farce, the outside World have held Americans accountable without realising they have next to zero control over candidates, let alone who gets in.

The greater reality is the candidate with the backing of the biggest bankroll get to run and usually rules. Meaning there might be numerous great leaders in waiting who remain faceless due to the lack of resources. More insidious is the candidates having a greater say over voter participation and relevance than voters do in making their vote count. Factor in the surgical dissection of borders through Gerrymandering and the American Political spectrum resembles a dogs dinner.

Despite this, the American people carry the can in the eyes of the outside world by being victimised because of it.

Why cannot we wade through what appears to be to view what is?

Or if we are going to base Americans on figureheads, why not base it on the ones who have inspired and touched the World in positively inspiring manners? Names such as Jack Kerouac, Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Cal Ripken, Abigail Adams with the list being endless. If you want a contemporary one, switch on your TV and bask in the humble greatness of Michael Phelps.

What is "American Shaming?"

My rant aside, time to lose the unfair victimisation and associated 'shaming' by seeing Americans for what they really are.

A welcoming people of real passion and wisdom.
