Stay Out of Poverty in America By Following These 3 Simple Rules

According to the left leaning Brookings Institution, which has spent considerable effort studying the problem, 3 rules need to be followed if you want to avoid poverty or lift yourself out of poverty in America.

Rule 1

Graduate from high school.

Rule 2

Wait to get married until after 21 and do not have children until after being married.

Rule 3

Get a full-time job and keep it.

For some, its difficult to maintain those three. Even then, many still fall into poverty.
#1 - My ex. completed HS and didn't want to go to college 25 years ago. His mom opened up the NYTimes, all required college degree.
He went to college obviously. Has a good job now.

#2 - have a good job, house, no debt, at lease $20 - $40k savings before having a kid.

The third is sort of redundant. If you are earning money you're not broke.

More interesting version of this I thought you were referring to is the three factors that predict moving OUT of the lowest income band if born into it.

First two are the same.

Third is don't go to jail.

If you finish school, don't have a baby as a teen and don't go to jail, your odds of at least getting by are really good.

I think all three of the things the OP posted encompass "don't go to jail" and "don't have a baby as a teen".

I did all those things and am not poor. I am getting used to being called priviliged. It's fun being despised for being responsible and paying extra in taxes to help out people more immature and stupid than me.

I work two jobs and go to college and im brome as hell i only bring in 2000 amonth. I can't afford to live were im at right now.
