YouTuber Anna Akana is one example of this stupidity. I'm not a Trump voter or anything; I personally wanted Bernie Sanders to win, but I seriously get sick and tired of people comparing Trump and Hitler. Until Trump starts rounding up people in concentration camps, making experiments on people including children, splicing twins, gassing people alive, killing pregnant women, and conducting torture endurance tests, then you have no FUCKING right to compare Hitler and Trump. Not only is it inaccurate, it is offensive to the sons and daughter of Isreal, descendants of Abraham and Issac, the tribe of Judah-Yehudah.

I'm not religious, or part of the Hebrew Nation, but my people have also suffered. My ancestors were enslaved by Spanish-Europeans, killed en masse. The slave owners saw us as dirty half-breeds mestizos, Latin-Indio monsters, savages without god. Killing us, raping us, selling our children into sex slavery, forcing us to learn Spanish and making us forget over the years what it was like to be indigenous, to forever wash away who we once were, to forever change our culture, to destroy what it once was. So I might not be a Jew but we have endured similar suffering. I understand what the holocaust actually was. So people who like comparing trump to Hitler are ignorant and have no self-awareness.

Until the day I see Trump killing 6 million people based on their ethnicity, sending soldiers to kill, burn alive and conduct experiments on them, you have no right to compare the two.

Also when it comes to deportation, Trump said deport illegals, not all Latinos. It just that Latinos happen to be most of the illegal immigrants, do me a favor and learn this.....

The comparison to Hitler isn't because of Hitler's actions as the Nazi leader. It is because of Hitler's tactics he used to rise to power. As @sjoes006 said, look up the term Demagogue and the definition exactly matches both Trump and Hitler's political campaign and rise to power.

Both Hitler and Trump used scapegoating tactics to blame the troubles of the country. (blaming certain ethnicities like Mexicans, religions like Islam or social classes like the 1%... which incidentally Trump is a part of).

Fearmongering - Trump insists America is falling apart and tries to convince Americans that their lives are somehow worse than those who are truly living in a shithole like 2nd and 3rd world countries. The fact that Trump convinced the most entitled population on the planet that their lives are crap is amazing.

Violence and intimidation - The countless times Trump stated he would physically attack his non-supporters, or that he could get away with murder and not lose votes, or the many videos of him encouraging his supporters to attack non-supporters in the crowd, or pay the legal fees for someone who attacked a non-supporter.

Trump's blatant racism has given his racist followers validation, and they are now coming out from under the rocks that they live in. Only 2 days after the election, there are hundreds of reported incidents of white Americans... adults and children, making racist, pro-nazi, white power chants from school lunchrooms, university classrooms, and people graffitying anti-minority sentiment across the US.

That not to say that all Trump supporters think that way. But there are huge swaths of heavily racist white Americans in the redneck hick counties in the US. Whole communities in the US will only accept whites, and ostracize minorities. However, this is the true America, long before Trump came to power. Trump is only fueling that racism, but he didn't create it.

The reason why people are comparing Hitler and Trump as being similar is because of their BEHAVIOR. It is a person's BEHAVIOR which makes them a demagogue, but somehow, you've completely missed the point and focused on non-behavioral topics. For example, you say..."Hitler was German... Trump is American... hence, Trump is not the same as Hitler". That doesn't make any sense at all. Demagogues and dictators come in all shapes and forms, but their BEHAVIOR is what links them together.

It's like when a psychologists sees a child that likes to torture and kill animals... you know something is fucked up about them, and it's a red flag that they're going to become the next rapist/serial killer in their adult life. Honestly, when you need to find differences, it just adds more merit. The differences don't really disprove anything either.

Their backgrounds don't really make it different, if the main points are comparable, they're comparable. Lets say two dictators perform the same atrocities, maybe they were both voted into power somehow, then turned the country into a dictatorship. If they have the same major points, they're comparable. If you look at it from 'the perspective of 'hitler killed millions of Jews and other races/groups of people', then of course it seems ridiculous. This comparison is based on how they rose to power, not how many people they fucked after rising to power.

So in this sense I would say it is comparable to some degree, at least in terms of campaign. Trumps entire campaign was basically 'everything is bad, bad this, bad that, everything is awful, we need to fix the world'. Trump has shown how easily you can win by just basically yelling and bitching, saying the country is a shell of what it used to be. Thats a big part of why Hitler won, It's really easy to bitch about how bad something is. It's another thing to have a working plan on how to fix it. But if you sit there and act relatable and point out all the flaws and trigger people, you can get them worked up enough to just say 'yeah thats all bad, I'm not too concerned on the outcome, but change sounds good'. There are points where you can say his rise to power definitely has similarities.

But Trump seems to have basically just said what people wanted to hear, and it worked in terms of an electoral vote, popular vote was still lost.

In terms of wanting to do anything he has stated in the past, I'm pretty sure it's all an act. He speaks to the room and flip flops constantly, to get applause, his twitter has done a complete 180 after the campaign. If anything I'm sure it was trump putting on another act.

He can't even do much on his own, he can propose laws... But they have to be passed, the Republicans have the majority right now. Trump could propose every U. S. citizen be given a snow cone maker to keep them cool in the summer, it would likely be vetoed by his own party.

Are aspects of his campaign comparable to Hitlers? Obviously yes.

In 1938 Hitler hadn't killed 6 million people either. And there ARE remarkably many parallels between the way Hitler ran his campaign and the way Trump was/is running his. And Hitler never got a majority.

Yes yes... But of coarse there are differences between the two of them! It's not like trump is an exact clone of hitler or anything! If people are saying that then they're wrong there, but most people are simply pointing out the strikingly similar ways that both rose to power, because there is indeed a lot in common between them in that matter, you can't deny that.
