decriminalize it, and it will help put a stop to sex trafficking rings. never understood why is was illegal. Government should have right to tell anyone what to do with there body like god dammit.
The closest to prostitution would be pornography cause that is legal if the person is 18 years old. If prostitution was legal in all 50 states, I wonder if it would be safe as you have people out there that would be abuse the system and abuse prostitutes like kidnapping them even murdering them or stealing their money.

I don't disagree with you, but to make prostitution legal in a way that also benefits women is very difficult. It can't just be because "it would make men's lives easier". There are no doubt some women out there who will voluntarily enter the profession, but their safety and free choice to exit the profession need to be protected.

And by the way, that video in your take is because the couple doesn't have a good relationship. You also shouldn't initiate sex by trying to take off someone's pants. That will get you a slap in the face.
he already mentioned in the take several ways that legal prostitution would benefit the women in the industry, such as the fact that they can report sex offenders without incriminating themselves to the authorities.
By all means legalize it but it should not receive any governmental subsidies. I don't want my taxpayer money to go to some woman just so she could fuck a butload of guys.

Because of sex slavery and women getting kidnapped so that these guys who view women as products rather then people have soemthign to buy I think it should be illegal. I don't think the girls should be shamed or punished but the guys who attempt to buy them should. The only way to curb sex trafficing is to hit the demand... hitting the supply just causese them to go out and find more supply.

The things about the money is dumb. They're expensive because it's forbbiden and there's no real concurrence. If prostitute worked like a company they would all lower the price and a bj would cost you $5.
In fact you just want everyone to have STD? Although I don't know if you're aware of it or no but majority of those prostitute don't have a choice, they're forced to do it so i'm against it because majority of these poor girls are forced to be prostitute and have no say in this.
I had a choice. Everyone that worked through the agency had a choice, and we got paid very well. It is in poor countries that girls don't have a choice.
@FrenchMelody In my country they don't have a choice, they're forced (Eastern European girls generally) and that's very sad for them. It's far from being the perfect life like you like to describe.
@goaded Perhaps. If it was then technically, only the people wanting the surveillance would be watching the porn. I think the main reason why prostitution is illegal is because of the lack of control and measures to ensure no violence and abuse occurs. If a security camera is watching every room with the guy having sex with the hooker, this can protect the hooker's well-being.
@goaded You are probably right. I am just thinking about if a women was being abused, she might not be able to call for help. There is no reason (unless you want to consider morals) apart from abuse of the prosititutes why it should be still illegal.
@goaded That comic strip got me thinking. I wonder how deep the legislation is for pornography vs prostitution? Maybe it only looks so simple when we look from the surface. Maybe there's a deep lying fundamental difference between the two?
I don't think it's better or worse for society. It's just a matter of personal freedom. If you're not hurting anyone, you ALONE are to decide what to do with your body.
So far, it has no effect on me actually because I've never had sex. Besides, maybe I'm able to be selfless at times... Is that so hard to believe? Or do you only act based on self interest, and assume everyone does as well?

Bj are cheaper than $5 in my country.
@amphet11 Really? You live in which country? In my country even the cheaper whore wouldn't give you a bj for that

Maybe there would be nothing as along as the sex is under surveillance.
Wouldn't it then be making pornography, and thus legal in the US?

I don't think you have to be so intrusive. If someone's been harmed, it's pretty clear the culprit is the one person who was in the room with them.

It's legal over here, anyway. I suspect you have to show, or even leave, ID at the door in case of problems.

It's going to be a tough decision for the government as there are a lot of blind people and they can't lose their vote bank.
I'm kinda torn, cuz you make good points and stuff, but like, it still seems kinda seedy :/

Well brothels are legal in here but we have still serious human trafficking problems? 😅
I think legalizing it and making it safe for the workers and customers would be beneficial for society in the long run.
Prohibition is what made the mafia powerful back in the 1930's.
Prostitution's bad rap is well deserved. There is a reason prostitution is frowned upon and banned
The United States should be like most of Europe and Australia when it comes to this
As long as the man who hired an escort is single , i dont see why it is wrong.
Or, or, men should learn to keep it in their pants.
If men wanted to keep it in their pants, women would have very little value in the world. How men are is how you want them to be.
So far, it has no effect on me actually because I've never had sex. Besides, maybe I'm able to be selfless at times... Is that so hard to believe? Or do you only act based on self interest, and assume everyone does as well?
I doubt any man would want to shag you anyway lol.
You hurt me deeply with those words... -_-
No it's not, using women as objects is never good, and I am not feminist at all, but your idea is just too primitive
I'm glad it's illegal. There should be a stigma attached to it.
Only whoremongers hire prostitutes.
I am also in favor of it being legalized.
No no no. I am glad it is illegal. 😅
