White Guilt Shouldn't Be a Thing

White guilt shouldn't be a thing.

No person should be held accountable for the actions of his ancestors. No person should be guilty for actions taken, or opinions held by someone who is not him regardless of race, color, or nationality.

Slavery: An institution as connected to human history as disease which, until recent times, has occurred in most every human society by one group asserting dominance over another with tribes warring on every continent and the victorious tribe subjugating the concurred into forced labor and imprisonment. This is something that all races have been on both the offending and receiving end of throughout history. The English word "slave" is derived from the word "Slav" because many Slaves were taken as slaves in Europe by Europeans. The Arab slave trade lasted over 1000 years compared to the triangle trade lasting less than half of that. If forced to take credit for the actions of our ancestors, in terms of slavery, the British have the most to be proud of for there effort in ending it. The British, during a war against Napoleon's France, posted ships around the coast of Africa to stop slave ships. This was done against the will of the African kingdoms who had refused to give up the slave trade as it was a massive source of wealth to them.

On the defense of me personally, I'm Irish, and my ancestors came to America in the 1930's making it more certain that my ancestors were slaves than having owned African slaves. So that doesn't even apply to all white people so it's pointless.

What's the point of this forced shame in one's race if not to silence those with dissenting opinions?

That is the only point of white guilt and is the only reason it is being used by racists who's arguments crumble at the first sight of criticism.
