To start out, I'd like to say that I'm not here to talk about reverse racism. I'm here to talk about the ridiculous idea that because you belong to a minority, you're not racisist. And before people complain, I'll also let it be known that not all white people are racist but most of my encounters with racism has come from white people. But once again this isn't the central part of this take. This topic comes from a time I saw a fellow Latino disrespecting a middle eastern lady. When I called him out, he said he wasn't racist because he was Mexican. See here's the issue, if I were belittling someone because of their race, that makes me racist. Being Colombian doesn't automatically make me a decent human when it comes to racism. Unfortunately this seems to be what some people tend to think.

This doesn't only involve people of different ethnic backgrounds, but even between those in the same minority group. Believe it or not, I know colorism is real. Much like the controversial white privilege, lighter skinned people within a minority get better treatment than darker ones. Try to refute it as much as you like, but I know my lighter skinned Latina complexion does give me an advantage over other Latinos. It's a matter on how we use our privilege that makes the difference. Colorism itself is a form of racism and the fact that you feel superior because of a lighter shade, does indeed make you a racist. I beg that you stop using your minority status to excuse your chauvinistic behavior and your hate. It makes the rest of look bad and our efforts seem meaningless. Now if this doesn't apply to you, feel free to not be offended.
