The Issue of Healthcare ISN'T a Party Problem, It's a MORAL Issue

Yup...it should be common sense that healthcare, no matter what country you're in, what part of the world you reside in, what religion you follow or how much you make, should be a primary concern for all. It should be a given that people have healthcare!

States all over the world should figure out how to take care of their people - a lot of states already figured it out, so why can't those that haven't, reach out to the more experienced, more stables ones, and take a few pointers from them?

Is it because they're more concerned about their country's apparent wealth, sick people be damned?

Not to mention - most of that wealth goes back into those rich people's pockets again... No ordinary person will ever see that money, or feel the change it might bring to his/her nation.

Other than spawning more corrupt politicians along the way trying to get a piece of that money cake!

Wouldn't it be extremely unsettling if people with an easily treatable preexisting condition died in a few months because they can't afford treatment?

Stop fighting about your political views to promote your 'healthcare agenda'!

Shouldn't the ultimate goal of the best healthcare be that all people CAN afford to survive?!

Unless...of course...you don't want everyone to survive...

That's not true. In the US, the Republican ideology is that you get what you work for, and that everyone is expected to fend for themselves. It is like taking a school exam, and your score is a direct result of how hard you worked.

In contrast, the Democratic Party ideology is that society work together and share the spoils equally. This is like taking a school exam, and all students get the average grade of C+ regardless of how hard they studied.

Those who are poor, destitute, and born unhealthy would naturally want mandatory health care coverage. Since health care is expensive, those who are going to use more than their fair share obviously don't want to pay for it all themselves.

Those who are wealthy, or born healthy with no pre-existing conditions want each citizen to be responsible for their own health care costs, since those who are healthy would pay less. Nobody wants their money to subsidize the health care of a stranger. Just as I would not share the income that I worked hard for with a poor person.

Now that Trump and the Republicans are in power, you can see how their ideology is panning out. Trump wants to (although failing to) demolish mandatory health care by government intervention. He wants every US citizen to be responsible for their own health care decisions, and the cost.

There's nothing wrong with that. After all, people earn and keep their income. If someone works a shitty low education, low paying job, that's the result of their choices. If another person works hard and becomes a rich person, that's the result of their choices. In both situations, both people had the opportunity to study hard, work hard and go to school... but only one tried hard enough.

Healthcare is not a fundamental human right because in order to provide healthcare, someone else's rights must be violated. Unless you believe doctors and nurses are slaves and people's property belongs to the government (if this sounds like Marxism, you get a red star), then you cannot believe healthcare is a right.

Healthcare is nice, but it can't do EVERYTHING. Just for financial reasons, you have to put a brake on it somewhere. Then there's the question of exactly WHERE do you apply the brakes. When somebody's a 95-year old vegetable with Alzheimer's, they're draining the Healthcare system thousands every day, and they're occupying a nursing home bed, when do you pull the plug on them? DO you pull the plug on them?

As far as politics, the health ensurers are lobbying politicians (usually Republicans) to make sure THEY get the sweetest deal, so you know where THEY want this to go. They've been trying to kill Obamacare since day one.

Here in America, the main debate with healthcare is... people don't want to pay for the healthcare of other people (especially since many health issues in America are because of poor diet/exercise habits).

This whole debate is seen as "Why should I pay for someone else's poor life choices?"

That capitalistic mindset is what makes America what it is. I'm not sure in my lifetime if this mindset will be changed enough to allow a single payer health care system to work.

The balance is between quality, availability and affordability. You can have two of those. Some countries have more success with some methods than with others. Saying here's the magical fix to all healthcare issues is just nonsense. It's never that simple.

The problem is neither side is talking about healthcare at all. Both side are talking about health insurance. More money needs to be put into prevention of disease and more research into cures rather then long term or lifetime treatments.
