Maryland is wrong. All guns are protected under the second amendment and I look forward to seeing their laws challenged in federal courts and the supreme court. The second amendment is listed second in the Bill of Rights for a reason. If you don't want kids to get shot in schools, protect them. Their should be armed police officers on every campus.

If an AR-15 is needed for self-defense then I need a tank for protection against drunk/terrible drivers. And I'm pretty sure my chances of running into a terrible driver is 10 times more likely then a squad of 15 people breaking into my house since more people are involved in car accidents then altercations that require a gun.

Also that Supreme Court decision was in 2008 long before this trend of mass shooting in schools, churches, concerts, theaters, etc. If this trend keeps up I wonder how that decision would hold up under further scrutiny.

AR-15s are popular sporting rifles. They are used in competitions and hunting all the time. Also, the AR-15 is as deadly as any other semi automatic hunting rifle.

The M1 Garand is actually a semi automatic rifle. Also, what a single shot rifles means is that the rifle only holds one round, almost no hunting rifle is a single shot rifle.
Like I said even lever actions and bolt action rifles can have a pretty fast firing rate.
