When You Are at a Loss... Here Is What You Can Do

You might have come to the point, at least once in your life, that you failed. And failed. And failed. Maybe in tests, exams, job applications. And you might have tried again, because you needed to pass that test, maybe because others told you to. Then what? Were they disappointed? Did they push you to try again? It might not really have become better since you might have known beforehand. And then the same result was there.

The definition of insanity is just this: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Now, do you see yourself in there? Driving yourself insane, because you try and try and it doesn't get better? Maybe it's time to think: The logic says that if the premise of something is wrong, then the result can be anything - but right. For example: When you're hungry and you want to make yourself a sandwich, you might know already what to do: Get some bread slices, mayonnaise, cheese, pork (or whatever you like), salad. Smear the mayonnaise onto the slices, put the slices of cheese, pork and salad on, the second slice on it - finished! Bon appetite!

But wait, what did we say? Bread... what bread? black bread? brown bread? No! Toast bread! But to late: You already smeared the mayonnaise on (and don't forget: You're hungry!). Now well, bon appetite? Think about it: You did everything you knew about making yourself a sandwich. But you did not have toast bread. And now you have to eat it. Yum...

And you might stand there, look at that sandwich and think "who the fuck forgot to buy toast bread?!" But is it really their fault? You might want to consider: You were hungry, and you wanted to eat some sandwich. Because it's tasty, and easy to make. And now you ended up with that fucking black bread (or brown bread). But would you stay hungry, because other bread than toast bread wasn't tasty. Maybe. You look in the fridge, and there are only components for other things, maybe for lunch. And your mom or dad might want to make lunch of it. So you might think you better don't touch that. But they ain't hungry right now. So what's to do?

Let's start with the premise again: You're hungry. You know that you need to eat something if you want to change that. And it should be tasty, at least you wish so. Do you wish to not get shouted at by others because you made use of what was supposed to be for lunch? Might be hard to take. So you think, and think, and think.... STOP! WAIT! What did we say: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." So did you get any? Let's see: "They'd get angry, they'd get angry they'd get angry, they'd get angry...." See? The same result over and over again. No different results.

So, here's a new step in your algorithm: "F*CK IT!"

Now instead: Think of what you can do! You want to try things over and over again, right? So what's the most important here: Make yourself be able to try something over and over again! Don't think about the time when you used to do something over and over over... *yawn* uhh sorry: again. INSTEAD:

1. Look at that package of bread, of pork, of cheese, of salad.

2. Forget about what you just looked at, and imagine anything you can think of! Strawberry jam, onions, yoghurt, hey! It's your sandwich!

3. Now get that slice, and if you like, shut your eyes, grab ANYTHING you hopefully bought while you read this and got a slice of toast bread out!

4. This step is for yourself (That's important!). Make yourself anything you can imagine on as many slices of toast bread you can eat!

NOW: Bon Appetite!

But why am I telling you this: There's what you can do, and what you can't do. But you can't eat a sandwich if you don't buy things for that. All you need is possibilities. Not people who tell you what you can't or shouldn't do. Again: This is for yourself. You can take this serious, but you can do out of it whatever you like.

And thus, take this as a new quote: "You can."
