The model industry today mostly have tall flatskinny white models and esspecially on catwalks. I personally think they are beautiful but I think we should have more models with different races, religions, cultures, bodytypes and heights.

Personally I think extremly underweight models when you can see the bones and extremly overweight model are not the most good looking. Ofcorse someone will disagree with me. But I want them to know they are beautiful but it is not an image we should give people to strive to. I want them to strive to be healthy. Ofcorse being a little underweight or a little overweight is completly fine but when it comes to your health being in danger it is not okay.

Hating on overweight people or underweight people won't help them loose weight. I see many people (not all) tell overweight and underweight people they are ugly in one way or another. Or joking about it in a mean way and then claim they were joking or being sarcastic which according to them makes it okay. Tearing down there self esteem won't make them stronger to being able to become healthier. Telling someone they should start being more healthy is great but you can say it in different ways.

As I said before I think we need more models with different bodytypes and heights. To show they are beautiful and are important to society's eye. You should grow up knowing you are beautiful even if the norm says otherwise.

I want all races and skincolors to be shown in the model industry to show how beautiful they are. So that Peoples self esteem goes up and you know you are beautiful the way you are. You don't need to bleach your skin and you don't need to get a tan. Your afro is beautiful and so is straight, wavy and curvy hair. Your thin lips are perfect and so are your full lips.

That would not only change peoples self esteem but also clothes sizes (problaby). Imagine a world wear you as a curvy short woman don't have a problem finding a pair of jeans and the same goes to the really tall woman.

When it comes to male models, I think the same for them. I think more short guys and avarage height guys should be in the model industry. All skincolors and races, all cultures and bodytypes. Being short doesn't make you less of a man and the same with muscles. Your dark skin is beautiful and your full lips are perfect the way they are.

Everyone no matter how you look should have the same opportunities in society and in the model industry.

Plus size models usually work out and eat healthily, so they might be of an unhealthy weight, but it’s because of their genetics, not their lifestyle. And yes, we need more diversity, and I feel like we’re very slowly getting there

I'm sorry but I have to disagree.

EVERY SINGLE JOB has requirements. Now they might not be physical but they sometimes are : PILOTS for instance, have to be a certain height.

BUT the point is every job has requirements and just like a doctor needs a degree a model needs to have a certain height and weight.

WHY this specific criteria? you might wonder.

1) Why one size? WELL because it's more convenient for designers. First thing you should know is that designers have to make 100000 collections all the time and that making an standardised sized helps them save a lot of time/money.

2) Now do they have to be slim? It's because it does COST a more to make plus size clothes than it does for slimmer girls. And IT doesn't matter for regular clothes but for high fashion dresses that are HANDMAID and cost millions of dollars, it does make quite the difference.

3) Why the height? Because they are supposed to be seen well and from a far by the photographs/ people in the 1st row and all the other rows. Plus they are supposed to be like mannequins in stores which are usually a certain height too and the clothes just look better on taller girls (just check out the photo of Karlie Kloss and Eva Longoria)

In high fashion it doesn't even matter if the girls are conventionally beautiful, in contrary they have to special/unique looking. But all races are more and more welcome (the collage I MADE has some of the most popular models right now from each ethnicity/religion...)

Now anorexia is rarer and rarer and that's for the good and as long as you're healthy, it's more than okay to be thin ! Most models eat well and workout

You can disagree, no need to apologice. Now often they make more money with different types of models actually. So they would usually earn more than if they didn't. And they look just as good on different types of people and they even makes a bunch of different sizes before they take the photoshoot and publish it.

But ofcorse like I said sometimes I understand if they need that one type it is completly fine. But if they never let any other skincolor/race model just because they aren't white (it happends a lot) it's not okay and the same with different bodytypes. Because like I said companys who have different bodytypes are usually bigger. 99% of vercase models are underweight super tall white People. And I don't think that sends the best message to young people. I'm not saying we should remove that type just that we should bring more different ones.

Firstly, there are practical reasons to why designers show off their clothes on skinny models, that is, the clothes simply look the best on them.
Fashion manufacturers are businesses, it is not their job to fix people's insecurities.

Secondly, if there is ANY kind of political stance to be adopted by the fashion industry, it should be the OPPOSITE of what you advocate for.
Being above the ideal weight is not ok and I'm militantly 100% against all societal attempts to validate it.
Overweightness should be publicly derided like alcoholism, smoking and drug abuse.

What you advocate for is no different from placing heroin addicts on the catwalk to show the world that they too are beautiful and should not be judged by the fact that they deliberately destroy they life with shitty lifestyle choices.

This is great in theory, but in practice...
It takes a lot of time and money to stage a fashion show. You book models, and some show up, and others cancel at the last minute. Unfortunately, that’s just the nature of models. So you often need to find replacements last minute. It’s easier to find a replacement when the industry has a ‘standard size’. Catwalk models (both male and female) need to meet weight, height and body measurement requirements. It has a lot to do with fitting. Designers make their samples/designs to these samples so little alteration is required, this saving time and money.

That first picture is so misleading. I have model friends of many ethnic backgrounds and none of them look like that. Even the VS models aren’t like that. The reason why they have tall and skinny models is because they’re essentially trying to showcase the clothes, and the easiest way to notice patterns and creases and other unique bits and bobs is when someone has no curves. It’s not that that kind of body is better because the majority of society agrees that thicker women are better. But I also agree with you.

I'm very against the modeling industry. I was a model for a while. They constantly want you to lose weight. A friend of mine fainted the day of a show because she was a pound higher than they wanted her to be and she didn't eat.
