@UncleJessieRabbit I believe that college should be tuition free for teenagers. I also believe healthcare should be funded by the public for the public collectively. I don’t believe in private health insurance.
I also believe in a $15/hour min wage for teenagers and college students so that they can afford to pay rent while they are in college working part time.
Those things improve the quality of life for everyone.
I also believe in the acceptance of diverse people in the same community.
Therefore I will be voting Bernie, but I’ll take a close look at Warren and O’Rourke as well.
Warren is a capitalist but she believes in putting a floor on poverty. Don’t know much about O’Rourke yet.
Essentially, I support politics that ensure that our basic needs are met at all times by virtue of being a citizen in this country.

@Malik00 yes, just like any pre-term or severely disabled baby born, the parents and doctors decide between extreme life saving measures that may only prolong suffering and allowing the baby to pass away as they essentially cannot live outside the womb.
Not at all what this poster is suggesting.
Late-term abortions are not undertaken lightly, by people who just don't want a baby. There's only a tiny handful of physicians in the US who perform them, in only a few states. They really don't have time for elective procedures.

And thank God that it's only performed in few states. That's another thing we can use to soothe any upsetting morality issues.

I recently just hammered out a take on explaining the historical and cultural underpinnings of a lot of this material in the context of western society, and exactly where some men get offended today.
I try to have a neutral opinion, but I do think that there is a real double standard that isn’t quite right in the grand scheme of things.

Because socialism is not about state control. That’s communism. Socialism is where the community literally is the state. The state dissolved into the community.
So rather than no governance, we literally govern ourselves. That’s socialism.
But governing ourselves isn’t enough, socialism tends to be governing ourselves with an egalitarian ethical framework.
To be honest, women are pretty capitalistic. Think about the sexual market. Think about what sexual market socialism might look like. Just imagine what that might entail: ‘everyone has the right to sex.’
I can imagine women reeling at the thought of it.

Socialism is direct governance without representation. Communism is an all powerful leader-state that does not represent the people nor is it elected.
Economically, socialism is where each individual gets 100% of the fruits of their own labor. Nobody owns their labor. Nobody owns the means of production.
In communism, the state owns the means of production and distributes the fruits of the collective labor collectively to the group. That’s not socialism.
Socialism consists of worker-co-ops where the worker’s own themselves.
Capitalism consists of owners who own their employees and the fruits of their labors.
Communism consists of a state that owns all its citizens and owns all the fruits of their labors.
@Robertcw No you got it wrong. Communism is supposed to create a commune where the state devolves into the people. The end stage of socialism is a system with no market where people are dependent on the state as central planner and distributor of everything. Hence why I said feminism is too socialist as it is relying on state policy for abortion and anti-conception as opposed to the market.
If the state dissolved into the people, then how could that mean the ‘state’ controls anything?
Are you opposed to decisions about governance being made by your fellow citizens? If so, then that’s where we disagree.
Also, do you enjoy being owned by your employer? If so, that’s also where we disagree. I want to own the means to my own production. Period. I’m not ‘okay’ with being owned and having 99% of the fruits of my work go to some business owner.
And I forgot one other thing.
I support rent control for tenets who are teenagers and college students, and for a clause that prevents renters from discriminating against potential tenets based on their age or eligibility for rent control law and for one which prevents renters from inflating rent above market value for potential tenets who qualify for rent control law, so that they don’t rip off and take advantage of young people in college who need shelter if there is not enough on campus housing.
Students aren’t people to be exploited. I like liberalism because progressives are the ones who stand up and say ‘you can’t do that. Piss off douche.’ And then pass a law that makes X thing illegal dropping the ban hammer on practices that exploit or take advantage of other people in ways that harm the future of the country. It’s the obvious choice in my opinion.
