The primary difference is that the latter was murdered by a couple of random yahoos. The former was murdered by a police officer acting in his official capacity.

The level of chaos that ensues is not an indicator of how much someone's life matters. This guy had his throat slowly crushed by a cop. That doesn't justify the shitstorm that followed but it's what sparked it.

George Floyd, an armed robber who held a gun on a pregnant woman and died likely from fentanyl overdose.

Now basically a saint to blacks. How fitting.

@Froyologirl when we Whites get upset over a White victim we only care about 100% innocent victims. Kate Steinle, Tessa Majors, Justine Damond. Then blacks claim we're evil racists for caring about murdered Whites.

Black people seem to mostly get upset over career criminal scumbags.

You're victim blaming again. Who cares if he did drugs. Many people do and that doesn't make them a bad person. And besides how do you know he was on drugs at the time the cop killed him. Regardless real $20 bill or not, there was no need to use force.

Black people need to stop victimizing themselves when a black criminal gets killed. You people carry out like 90% of interracial crime. Take responsibility for the fact majority black cities are high crime hell holes.

    Because of media attention.

It's why Joe Biden is the candidate for the Democrats.
It's why Donald Trump is the candidate for the Republicans.
And it's why it's George's murder specifically gets more attention than any other.

Yeah, you keep saying that, but if it's based on this fuzzy twitter posting, perhaps you'd better try getting a better copy where you can see the case number, anything about a pregnant woman, and explain why the official court document doesn't have his full name.

George Floyd vs. Ahmaud Arbery, why don't both their black lives matter?

In the mean time, listen to what the man, himself, had to say.

No, it's clear that someone with a similar name (these documents include the whole name, his full name was George Perry Floyd Jr.) spent 5 years in prison for something, in Texas, before 2010.

This wouldn't be the first time "proof" anout someone put out by the right wing turned out to be about someone completely different. Including on this site.

You are acting like we are marching for him. We aren't marching for Floyd and if you think that's what these protests are all about then you're part of the problem. The protests happened because of Floyd. He was basically the last straw escpecially because his death was so devastating. And stop bringing up his past life. Who cares? pregnant woman or not robber or not, not everyone deserves to die. People can make a new life for themselves.

@Froyologirl you literally keep telling us you are marching for him... but alright let's say you're not

what are you protesting for? because according to the data black people are under represented in police use of lethal force, there is no statistical trend of cops killing black people. only a trend of the media propping up those stories for ratings

      you have no legitimate cause

He has a daughter, maybe he needed the money. Again not justifying, but don't judge people. And how long ago was this. If it's 5-10 years ago he probably changed.

Except he wasn’t a bear and when someone tries to take your gun you’re going to defend yourself.

      “No other option”
Literally do anything other than try to fight the guy with the gun. He ran around 270 degrees around the truck instead of running away.

He wasn’t being “hunted down”. They were trying to detain him until the cops got there (who they had already called). You don’t call the cops if your plan is to commit first degree murder.

You clearly show that you believe Arbery shouldn't have fought for his life while he was being hunted by 2 armed men, on top of that you make it seem like his hunters were on the defensive when both attempted to make illegal citizen's arrests on someone they did not know. The fact is he was running beforehand for some time and tried to get away from the men who clearly had no intention of leaving him alone, his only other option was to fight.
Thus you believe only armed people have the right to self defense.

Firstly, IF he was being hunted then you could argue he attacked in self defense, but nope, he wasn’t being hunted down to be killed, so sorry, wrong.

More hilariously, that doesn’t lead to the conclusion that only armed people have the right to self defense. That’s just you falling over yourself.

Everyone has a right to self defense. Which also means shooting someone trying to take your gun, even if they think they are acting in self defense too.

So only murderers can hunt? Because an illegal citizen's arrest is kidnapping.
Am I allowed to defend myself from kidnappers? Do kidnappers not hunt people?
The fact of the matter is they knowingly hunted him with the intention of abducting him. He ran for his life until he couldn't anymore and attempted to fight off his kidnappers.
Your logic all revolves around the belief that they were not committing a crime. If you're robbing a house and the owner tries to defend him by attacking you, and he ends up dead, that is murder period.

@Hypnos0929 "So only murderers can hunt?"
No Cathy Newman, that’s obviously not what I’m saying.

      “Do kidnappers not hunt people?”
      Wow, what a disingenuous perspective.
Rather than explain how ridiculous that is, I’m just offer to offer a comparable alternative: Am I allowed to defend myself from thieves trying to rob me of my weapon?

“The fact of the matter is they knowingly hunted him with the intention of abducting him.”
Nope. That’s you assuming you know their intent. You don’t know.

“He ran for his life until he couldn't anymore and attempted to fight off his kidnappers.”
Lol no. If you can run, then you can run away. He didn’t run to anyone else’s home for help. He didn’t call the police.

“Your logic all revolves around the belief that they were not committing a crime.”
      Well they weren’t. Go figure.

“If you're robbing a house and the owner tries to defend him by attacking you, and he ends up dead, that is murder period.”
Lol, the irony here is that Ahmad was the one entering other people’s homes. Great example. Yes, Ahmad attacked a guy and got shot.

*Your* assumption is that they believed they were acting illegally by detaining Ahmad.

      Reply
    • Anonymous

Here’s what it looks like happened. Ahmad knows he had been trespassing and had people chasing him, he didn’t want to get caught, so he only run’s and doesn’t look for help. The Michelson’s, who the owner of the house was directed to *by the police* went out to try to catch the Ahmad, while the owner called the cops and followed in his car and documented. They catch up with Ahmad. For some reason he runs around the truck and chooses to engage. Given the layout, it seems like he didn’t realise there was a shotgun involved until after he ran around the truck and he was already in close quarters. At that point, both parties feel like they’re defending themselves and the fight just plays out. If the Michaelson’s had just stayed in their car and kept eyes on Ahmad then everything would have been fine. If Ahmad hadn’t charged the shotgun then everything would have been fine as well, not to mention if he hadn’t been trespassing regularly. It was an awkward set of circumstances that escalated.

What people think they know doesn’t matter. What matters is what the people involved thought.

“but you're so caught up in condemning a dead man that you refuse to admit it.”
I gave a fair and honest representation. You demonstrated that you can’t do anything but take it to the most absurd place.

“On top of that you can't even admit Aubrey was trying to defend himself.”
Except for the part where I *literally* said he was. See how you’re not even paying attention to the words right in front of you? You’re not fooling anyone. You’re blind at best and disingenuous at worse. You have no business engaging in these discussions when you can’t even just be honest about what’s in front of you.

I find it funny how you think intentions matter now that I've pointed out it was an illegal citizen's arrest aka kidnapping.
It's pretty clear that you're just on the side of Aubrey's murderers because they had a gun and he didn't. You have no real excuse for their behaviors and you can't even admit Aubrey shouldn't have been killed.
I mean you are determined to say the intentions of Aubrey doesn't matter but you can't say the illegal citizen's arrest was a factor.
