Not just learning how, which most of us luckily are taught. But learning to LIKE reading.

Exhibit A: The people of Germany could have saved themselves a lot of misery if they simply read their new fuhrer’s book. And rioted when their Right Wing president appointed Hitler Chancellor.

In his own “memoir” (written 10 years before) he wrote of his philosophy. Besides anti-Semitism, he believed in perpetual war. Races forever fighting for land and food.

Germans could have been warned had they read.

Instead they burned books. Prompting a German poet to write prophetically:

“First they burn books, then they burn people.” -Heinrich Heine

And Right Wingers are still at it today.

Learn to read, and like reading. Even read shit you don’t agree with. I read about Donald and even a bit of his ghost written books. Just to get a sense of his philosophy. Which was ironically: “I hate educated people.”

I mean his anti semitism was widely known Before he was in power, it was comparable and similar used like anti-lgbtq propaganda today. Peopled liked it and they had a common enemy to hate on. Only after he was in power he started slaughtering jews. They didn't only do that to jews but in the same way to mentally and physical Ill people, hate on them because they are not what they imagine a human should be.( again similar to a lot of anti-lgbtq+ propaganda today).

Obviously making sure no one actually reads, what their enemies write is important. Otherwise they may realize you are the problem, not the one you are hating on. You can easily dictate what people think about a group if you are the one telling people "the truth" about these people.

So again: stop these anti lgbtq+ book banns and start to realize who tries to dictate what other people think.

No one is burning books dude. They are simply removing them from school curriculums and both sides do this.

The left did this with books like 1984 and the right did this with books like Gender Queer. Why? I guess the left couldn't stand mockery of their ideology and the right claims that the books they banned from school libraries have sexual content that are meant for children long before they normally take sex ed like kindergarteners.

You can still buy all these books to see if the right is full of shit. If they were actually burning them, you wouldn't be able to know they are available to be purchased.

@OddBeMe I would honestly be surprised that Art of the Deal would be required reading in schools or at the libraries in the first place. I never read it but I would imagine it is about real estate or just tips about salesmanship so I can't imagine it would be relevant in many public schools.

Why not? In that way people are actually informed when they can vote and are not falling as easily for propaganda. Schools are a great way to teach children a neutral point of view and be in a controlled environment to read about critical books.

I am dyslexic. A lot of them did read Mein Kampf and they were convinced by it. The persecution of the Jews was very common throughout all of Europe since the Spanish inquisition. It took the German citizens to start attacking Jews before the government could come in and round them up.
