Many of you know what a "thigh gap" is. It's become a socially accepted (and desired) girl image. For those who aren't aware of what a thigh gap is, it's when a girl stands with her feet together, and there is a gap between her thighs (as shown in the picture above).
Many-a-time I have found myself in front of the mirror, asking myself if having a thigh gap would make me more pretty, like a fairy godmother waving her wand and making Cinderella beautiful. However I have learned that 1; it is mostly determined by genetics, making it (in a healthy way) unattainable to some, and 2; most guys don't even care whether a girl has a thigh gap or not. Most responses that I've read from guys are either, "I just want my girl to be healthy and happy with her body" or, "thigh gap? If she has one, great, if not, still great". Does this mean you are to be ashamed if you do have a thigh gap? Not at all. What about if you don't have a thigh gap? Will guys not be attracted to you? I can't stress this enough. Most guys don't care if you do have one or not. They will not judge you by the size of your thighs. They want a girl who's confident in herself and her body.
Is it wrong to try and obtain a thigh gap? No it's not. HOWEVER, this does not mean to starve yourself, or binge. It means you can change your lifestyle by making more healthy eating decisions, and working out. Even after you have changed to that lifestyle, you still may not get a thigh gap because of your genetics. Bottom line girls, be happy with yourself, and listen to your body, not your peers (or social media).
