Bullying is terrible. I was never really bullied cuz I was quick to smash someone if they put their hands on me first but it really is a big problem. Its kinda incredible how fucking mean some people can be, like they have no soul. I saw my 10 year old niece the other day & she told me she didn't wanna go to school cuz a few girls were making fun of her. It legit broke my heart in a million pieces. Def not an over exaggeration. Thats crazy.

Yeah... it breaks my heart when I hear about kids around the world getting bullied, and some committing suicide. Its a big problem. Sometimes I feel like society is literally going to tear itself down from the inside out. :/

this is such a great take. i've always been bullied since elementary. reading your takes made me realize that there can be meaner people like what both you and your sister had experienced. there will always be bullies online and in life. know that you two are wonderful and strong ladies. all the best. :)

As someone who was bullied a lot I think it has been grossly exaggerated in recent years. Yeah it sucks, yeah it can wreck your social life, but it can also make you stronger and grow as a person. Thanks to be being bullied, I became a more humble person, learned to fight, learned to appreciate all people, learned to defend the weak, and became stronger and more disciplined. People can either cower and hide when they are bullied or they can stand up and fight and grow. Once I started fighting back I started to have less and less fear. Unfortunately there are people who pick on and bully people who they deem as weak, it sucks but that's reality. So you can either be strong so no one tries to bully you or you can be weak and get bullied.

I suppose thats why people like you and I exist. It's not to say that I didn't cower... but I would say even though I broke down, I was rather resilient in that fact that I refused to accept being bullied. Some simply aren't given the tools. I helped one of my best friends early in our friendship. He was being bullied, right before my eyes, over a matter that wasn't even his fault, by a bunch of guys that were bigger and stronger than him. I walked up to them and said "listen, it wasn't his fault, he said he was sorry, now get the fuck out of here and leave him alone." After that day, he's become stronger and more independent than I ever thought. He learned to defend himself and not accept the way other people want to treat him (negatively). We may not have control over other people, but we do have control over how people treat us. All that said, I do believe that not enough emphasis is put on the effects it can have until it is too late. We can't expect kids to simply stumble upon it.

I was bullied a lot and the teachers and professors didn't do anything. Whenever I screamed at the bullies, the other kids would call me a crybaby.

And it doesn't stop in college, most of the bullies are either victim wannabes, fake friends, or in fraternities and sororities.

That's why I prefer online classes over being there physically. People tell me "where's the fun in learning" and I say, there's fun in learning when it's away from the other stupid and selfish classmates.

And that's the reason why I am going into computer science, so I can work with machines and not rotten humanity.

It's a huge problem... I've been bullied to the point that my grades dropped because I fell into depression, and I didn't go to school for days on end. I wish people would stop putting others down to feel better about themselves... it's not right at all.

You'll mistreat a docile pet until 1 day it turns and snaps your fingers off then you've got new respect for it. A few guys in high school tried bullying when I first started. I wanted a quiet life so I let it go. It got worse and more people were joining in. So I went to the root source and kicked their heads in in front of everybody. Was treated like a king after that. If your going to be passive and shy, then someone's going to pick on you. Be a lion in life not a sheep.

I was bullied, lots. I still suffer from it today. Bullying in your childhood by parents or peers (or both) creates a negative schema in your subconscious. A kind of "negative view" of the world. You take these experiences with you into adulthood. So you actually having an irrational child as a sub conscious that becomes the greatest negative monster in your conscious. Its very hard to undo these things once you lived a life of being bullied. I seeing psychologist number 6... could be 7 because of it. I struggle many days with my mirror and yet I know its all a lie. I fuckin hate bullies and bullying and to this day I have a disdain for power abuse.

Elementary and high schools are battlefields for young children and teenagers. I made up my mind.

Being bullied too in the past, I mastered the art of ignorance and solitude (isolation). Being bullied can make you strong over time, if you do it right. But for your story, I'm sorry, it seems like you have been living in an area full of barbarian rednecks? Find a better place to live, I sort-of have. Move into civilization, as have I.

But that all may come with a blind hatred towards society and a new stereotype.

I find bullying to be a thing that girls tend to experience more so than boys. And by this i mean girls bullying other girls. For example the most recent serious case of bullying at my school was when a girl organised our prom without consulting the "queen bee" of my year. Because of this many of the girls in my year wouldn't speak to her and they boycotted the prom.

At my school I've noticed their friend circles are very fragile and I've seen issues divide pretty much the whole year. Most of the boys just play football so there's not many arguments there

Luckily, I was never bullied. I guess it's because I've been big for my age virtually my entire life (I stand at 6'3, 310lbs, and a LOT of that is muscle, plus I have a huge frame.)

However, I was often ignored growing and outcasted. I really don't think bullying is as bad as loneliness (although the two of them often go hand-in-hand.) Both are issues but it seems like our media likes to blow up bullying everywhere but nobody talks about the issue of loneliness.

I blame the zero tolerance policies in school. We teach our kids just to ignore bullies but that's not realistic. Fighting back is the only way to stop a bully. I know I was hospitalized by mine. Ignoring him only made him escalate things. If I would of sucker punched him at least he might of got the point that people fight back.

Nope, not an exaggeration. I remember back in 7-8th grade in middle school, as a Mexican-American/Hispanic myself, other hispanic kids used to try to bully me because I chose not to "fit in" with them (acting like a typical wannabe cholo/gangster) and because I have a completely different perspective of the world from them. One even tried to fight me for no reason but eventually backed out like coward because he noticed that I was actually gonna fight back.

One more thing I like to add, one of these wannabe cholo cowards even pulled a gun (which wasn't even loaded) on me once, thinking it'll intimidate me. It didn't and then the guy with the gun just walked away frustratingly.

Let it out... that's all I have to say. Don't ever hold in your emotions. Don't allow the people bullying you to see your soft side... but cry with a friend... put in some music and draw something... write out a letter. Just don't keep it bottled inside. If you ever feel like you need to talk to someone, please don't hesitate to email on here. :)

It's really hard. Well perhaps I indeed screwed up things that i can never change back again. And I wish I could talk to someone about these. My mom is not really helpful and my relation with dad is not that good. Sometimes I talk to my dog lol perhaps he listens. Actually it feels revealing. I'll perhaps send you a message if that is okay.. :) I don't want to bother you so much though with my stupid things.

Bully is definitely a problem but I've personally never seen much of it. The people that fought each other at the schools I went to were usually the popular kids, the people are my school were pretty nice. I saw someone get bullied once and immediately stopped it and later became friends with the girl I helped (turned out to be a bitch but that's not relevant). I went to a pretty ghetto school so maybe it's richer schools that have more bullies? We even had a completely unpopular kid that was an ass to everyone and people still tried to be nice to him! I'm glad I didn't go to hugely white populated schools because they seem meaner. I went to one my senior year and they were such snobby bitches, I missed the poor school.

I went to schools with primarily latin, black and Asian kids. The white populace at my schools weren't very high. I don't think it has much to do with ethnicity or economic status. I think people all around the world have the capacity to be mentally unhinged.

If more kids start actually complain to their parents what the teachers and principals are doing believe me they would start to give a shit. Their worst fear is angry parents. This is why you should go to your parents about what your principal did. If she sees how angry your parents are she change her mind pretty fast.

Bullying can kill someone unconsciously if the victim isn't strong mentally. For me, it's a problem.

I always try to think positive. I think these bullies are lacking of love, so they receive the attention by making problems like this one. We really should try to approach them smartly. Maybe we can gain a new friend.

You see 'bullying' is mostly a modern slang term for good old fashioned racism.

. if you're a little bit different, and don't conform to the dominant English-derived cultural norms in the US, you might be visited by a lynch mob, in various forms, starting in grammar school.

Particularly true if you're a beautiful Latina, I think.

People are bullied because of race to be sure but it's hardly a slang term for racism. People in all white schools are bullied too. As are kids in every school in every country.

Kids are bullied because they have red hair, blonde hair, odd names, funny shoes, they're smart, they're dumb, mom is fat, dad is in jail, you're rich, you're poor,... you name it.

I hear you though. But Be careful in your thinking that it's always race motivated. My first job I was bullied by Mexicans til I quit. Was a summer landscaping job. They wanted their friend to work on our crew and they said I had "his job". Race motivated? Definitely. But whites could just as easily done the same to me because they wanted the job for their cousin.

Lol. I did. Only once... and that was all it took. But a lot of people don't think like that. Or can't. And that's why some need people like a lot of the strong people around them to stand up and fight for themselves... never to give up, and stand by them.
