Girl asks for number but doesn't call?

We've known each other for over a month and flirt all the time, and eventually she gets my number from me. She says she'll call on a day, she doesn't, and gives me a fake reason. She did the exact same thing twice. She appears to still like me, and acts the same as usual.

What's the deal?

sometimes people just get busy... but truthfully she may not like you as much as you think she does. Sometimes the way some girls interact with guys comes off as being flirtatious (my boyfriend accuses me of this a lot), but it may not necessarily mean that they want to date you. If it bothers you, make a joke of it. If she says she is going to call you and doesn't, when you see her next just be like "way to not call me again..." but make sure it comes off jokingly... if it is said to seriously she might get offended. And do you know for a fact that her reasons are fake? If you know for sure, then that goes along with my original statement that she may not like you as much as you think she does... or it could also be that she is dating someone else and doesn't want to tell you or hurt your feelings. Be aware, that it really just could be that she is busy too, because I know I forgot a lot of things when I am busy, but I probably wouldn't forget to call a guy I like. If she is faking an excuse, she could also feel bad for forgetting to call and feels like she needs to make up a good excuse, but doesn't realize that just telling the truth is the way to go. I appreciate your advice :). That makes sense, but why would a girl make the initiative to get my number if she wasn't going to call? I know her enough to know she wouldn't do something like this solely to be evil, and she actually is single.

That's why she asked for your number, because you two know each other well enough. After a while it just seems to be the polite thing to do if you want to make friends, because after a while if you two keep talking all the time after class or whatnot then its like "why haven't we exchanged numbers yet?"... and eventually the communication will cease. plus if she goes somewhere and wants to invite you... she has your number.

There's seems to be a little confusion. She asked for my number because WANTED to call me (she set up a time), or so she said. Anyways she actually ended up calling me that day around midnight, and she explained everything (about the other day too). ;D

OR

She might just be waiting for your call. So, maybe you should call her. If she doesn't pick up (try this multiple times), she is just messing with you.
