Should we allow women to be police officers?

To be honest I don't think we should. They physically can't handle what the job often requires. That is a huge liability. Women officers often use way too much force (supported by national statistics) 

Women are also emotionally unstable. I don't trust them at the grocery store let alone with a badge and gun. Many of the abrasive mean women officers are lesbians with a chip on their shoulder. Not a chip for criminals but men.

But seriously, women can easily be in enough shape to join the force, besides before they join they go through PT in police academy, anyone who cannot pass that get's the boot anyway.

I have to give you this one. But only since it's a personal (problem) opinion that has no weight on whether or not women should be police officers.

If we don't let women be cops we DEFINITELY can't let these fat guys be cops. (Yes I know they're not as common as it seems on the internet)
I think it's like anything else involving serious physical demands.
If a woman can handle it, let her in.
If she can't, don't.
Don't give her less strenuous training and if she makes it through, then why not!

I'm going to let you know right now that 85-90% of the police officer's job is report writing. I am also going to let you know that communication and empathy are what are used on 95% of the calls police officers respond to. I am also going to let you know that you do not need to be very strong to pull a trigger on a gun.
I am also going to let you know that having a female officer present has been proven, in numerous studies, to lessen the chance of officers engaging in physical altercations.

So yes, I think they should allow for female police officers. I think that if women more equally represented in the police force you would see a decrease in police shootings, police violence, and police aggression.

If women can handle the job they should not be discriminated against. However I think the selection criteria should be based on the requirements of the job and not lowered so women can get in. My brother in law is a police officer and said when he has to do crowd control or go out on a call it does put him at risk if his partner is not as strong as a guy. However, some women are tall and strong. Like my friend's wife could easily kick the sh*t out of most guys. And if I was fitter and did weights (I'm working on it) then with my height (6ft) and calm nature, I could have been a police officer

Pretty sure it was male officers who beat an unarmed homeless man to death and male officers who kicked a man in handcuffs in the face while he layed on the ground.

The standards are not that hard. Hell, even I could make it as a cop and I'm not exactly physically fit.
You know who has tough physical standards? USMC bootcamp. And lots of girls make it there.
I don't think standards should be dropped for women, but they shouldn't be banned either.

Male police officers also use too much force. I think that maybe they should more properly train female and male officers to stop the many police brutality cases.

i dont see why they shouldn't be, as long as the pass the physical requirements. You say that women are emotionally unstable... yet all of the random beatdowns/killings I've seen these days have been perpetrated by male officers. In some ways, I can almost say that the police forces in many countries are missing a bit of that gentler female touch.

Yeah, if you were a criminal and a female officer was trying to apprehend you, you'd just walk through them- that doesn't make for a very good cop. They are needed when a female needs to be searched or something, but they could fulfill that role without actually being a police officer. I think men exhibit better judgment under pressure when the shit hits the fan too.

I think we should allow only fit, strong men. Women and fat or weak men are a waste of money and training. Of course, other parts of the police (such as detective positions) should be open to them.
