We work together, I gave him my number, he still flirts but hasn't called. What the heck?

So I work at a college and one of the chefs (he's 4 years older than me) caught my eye. I worked up the courage to start talking to him and we have had quite a few things in common. He always looks me in the eye when I'm talking and sometimes seems a little shy around me. Some of my coworkers gave him my number (I was too nervous to do it!) and apparently he smiled a lot and seemed really flattered to get my number. We've continued to talk when we see each other in the cafeteria and it's not even remotely awkward... however, it's been 11 days since my friends gave him my number and he hasn't called. Is he not interested? Like maybe he doesn't want to make it awkward, so he keeps talking to me and acting normal? Of course, I wouldn't want things to be awkward, but my friends think he might be too shy to call. I mean, I'm an athletic/in shape, attractive, educated female who he has things in common with, and I guess I don't see why he'd have a reason to NOT call? I gave him my number, he knows I'm interested... what could possibly be holding him back other than that he might not be interested?

p.s. my friends saw him "checking me out" before I decided he'd be worth trying to get to know... I really think he's attracted to me, so I'm totally at a loss for what's going on!

Your friends are DEFINITELY right he's shy. Meaning you did the first step now the rest is up to him. He probably hasn't called you yet mainly cause he might stutter or make an idiot of himself or probably don't have ant credit or any quiet place where he can talk to you so gets the full effect of talking to you in person. Or he just has a lot on his mind like family or work or goals etc.

Or he could've lost your number by accident? You never know? Especially if he's a shy person he'll be modest about things? BUt mainly he could be waiting for the right moment.

Just try ask him you like him he likes you life is short so just do it.

Kidding, but I seriously think he's a little shy. Not too mention that you didn't give him your number on your own. Did you tell him it's alright? Does he understand that you know he got your number through your friends?

If you really want to stop all the drama, simply ask him in a joking manner, "So why haven't you given me a call"? Not only will this stun him, but it will encourage him to call you that very night. Trust me, I've had a few of my girlfriends do this, and it shocked the hell out of some guys. So try it.

I appreciate your advice! I guess at this point, it's easier for me to assume he's not interested and that he keeps talking to me to just placate me and avoid things getting awkward... I've considered saying something about the phone number because it's never been brought up, he might think I don't even know they gave it to him! I just don't want to come off as being too forward. I guess I've put myself in a lose-lose situation, lol. regardless, thanks again!

He might not actually know that you sent your friends; he might think they were trying to play a prank on you or him.

If you're interested, you have to approach him yourself. If he's worth having, then he's worth getting!

Hmm... well, I think a girlfriend would have come up in conversation by now, we've been chatting for like 2 months. I really don't think he's gay, so I'm thinking he's probably not interested... oh well!
