Should rapists and murderers be treated with compassion?

Just curious.

By murder I mean, the kind that is unjustified. If someone murdered someone else for being a rapist or child molester then for the sake of argument, we will count that type of stuff as justified murder. An unjustfied murder would be the killing of an innocent person, and not in self-defence.

These people go to prison, and enter into these programs and claim to be rehabiliated. Would you trust them when they say that? How would you treat them?

To me it doesn't matter if you're "rehabilitated" once you thought it was ok to rape or take someone elses life, you lost all chance at a future because you took someone elses.. They should have fixed that before they impacted someone else's life and their families life, not after. I would never trust anyone like that or give them the time of day.

apparently most convicted rapists were repeated offenders before the conviction, so no I wouldn't trust them too much.

No. I don't care how "fixed" you are, you took someones life or traumatized another person for sick reasons only you personally have. If you think that's okay, that you can just do that and be treated and go back to a normal life, you're fucked up and so is the legal system.

I think they should just use those people for scientific experiments and not keep them alive their whole lives in prison at the expense of the tax system.

People make mistakes, and part of rehabilitation is doing ones time, getting out and making a go at it. It used to be that when you got out you had paid your "debt" to society. Most people in prison do get out, and it's not easy, I've been out of prison (bank robbery) for just over 2 years and it's still hard sometimes.

I don't know we accept women who have had abortion back into society. they should be locked up too with all the other violent criminals. lock them up and throw away the key

Murder is always unjustified. 'Justified' killing might (MIGHT!) be manslaughter.

@dudeman For me, it is not "way less bad than murder." In my opinion to kill someone (without reason i. e. self defense) one must be a sick person, but to rape someone, one is even sicker.
