I actually thought paddling was something that ended after the 90s. However, back in 2007 We moved out of the city and into the country. I went to a smal school there where that paddling shit was brought back to life. But it was like for silly reasons. Like nigga I dont know you, you not none of my fam so why you putting your hands on me.

Anyways, I was in 7th grade at the time. I got paddled for being late for class. They gave the choice of after school detention or a paddling. But I couldnt attend detention because I had to go home with my siblings. So I took the paddling. They called my mom up for permission and she said it broke her heart to allow them to do it. They claim they are allowed to do it if your parents didn't sign some slip when you applied to the school.

But it was odd getting paddled. Luckily I wore shorts under my school pants that day, so it didn't really hurt. But I felt like I was in a porn scene. They had the female assisstant principal paddle the girls. She was like "Go over to the principals desk. Put both your hands against his desk and spread your legs. Look into his eyes and repeat that you will never be late again." Then she paddled me as he smirked. I think he was kinda into it. #Awkward

No. I may be old but not that old lol. My parents generation, yes they did permit it. It was more like the strap. They would get the strap on their hands.

They got physical with us sometimes, it was the 80s and 90s, haha. I got absolutely DEMOLISHED by the shop teacher in junior high getting pulled out of a fight, haha. Just straight up bodied me😵 Never actually got paddled though. I had a nun in high school that was like 1,000 and still whacked your hand with a ruler. You couldn't just throw a tantrum and threaten lawsuits to get your way back then, shit still got real, haha. But I worked with a kid like 7-8 years ago who was from Florida, and he said you could pick between detention or taking X amount of licks with a paddle in front of the class as discipline, and I was like "no way, get the fuck out of here", because this is like '06 he's talking about, no way did I think that shit happened in the 21st century. Another girl at work was from Florida too, some scary ass country town in the panhandle where they legit had festival every year celebrating possums, because they survived off of them during the Great Depression😱😱😱😱 [pause for vomit]... anyway, some crazy ass place that's the polar opposite of where I'm from, haha, but she said it was common practice at her school too. Banana land. Can't even wrap my head around it.

Assuming you define "paddle" as meaning, "Hit a child on bottom with a short, wide piece of wood as a punishment," than definitely - Yes!

Started junior high school in fall 1976, and unlike elementary grade school where principal sometimes pulled out and show students a wooden paddle as a threat, but never knew it used on anyone, several of the jr. high 7th, 8th, and 9th grade teachers had and used such wooden paddles!

Classroom teachers were allowed to and regularly give students a "swat" or a single whack across buttocks with a paddle. Don't know if there was an official school policy limited them to giving just one swat, but I never knew anyone to get more than one for each incident of inappropriate behavior or rule violation. Mostly male teachers were the ones who would swat students, but a few females too didn't heditate to pick up a paddle give a swat.

The teacher you got in trouble with gave the swat, as there was no assigning students to assistant principal of same gender. Thus, - Yes, the male teachers did give swats to girls. It wasn't often it happened, but it did happen. Clearly remember a strict male math teacher telling a girl in class one day, "You know got a swat from me and I don't think you liked it, but if you keep talking you are going to going to be getting another one!" Was much more common, though, for boys to receive a swat and a female teacher gave me one!

Nothing seemed sexually suggestive at all. I just felt some teachers relied upon and overused the paddle as their only discipline. For minor little things, such as for chewing gum or, in my case, forgetting a homework assignment swats seemed overly harsh. Seemed like paddle should have been reserved for serious offenses like: fist fight between students, smoking on campus, etc.

At any rate 30 years earlier, no telephpne calls were made to parents before or after swats were given, nor were any permission slips sent home asking for parental consent to use of corporal punishment! You only got to walk out of classroom and into the hallway or over into an adjacent conference or storage room. Another teacher would quickly be recruited as a witness, and if there was more than one student getting a swat you would be lined up behind book case or told to turn around and face wall so as not to be able to watch classmate get a swat! Any students walking down hallway or in class in nearby rooms got the excitement of hearing an explosive loud whack9.

Was also in 7th grade when I got taken into conference room just before lunch at noon. Teacher realized she didn't have her paddle so sent me to go get it out of another class room on other side of building. Immediately got taunted by others in the hall, who saw me carrying it back, "Oh, you're gonna get it," inquiries of, "what did you do?" etc. Paddle in shape of 2 foot long miniature boat oar had a 3/4 inch in thickness.

Returned to conference room as classmate Jeff got told, "I've had you back here before, so since you know the routine I'll take you first!" Accordingly, I had to stand on other side of room divider behind witnessing teacher. After hearing the loud crack, Jeff was told, "Now you can stand up and go," and seconds later heard door open and close, so it was my turn. Got instructed, "Okay, spread your legs apart, stoop over, reach down, grab your ankles, now look straight ahead, and don't move until given permission!" Followed by threat, "If you jump or move you'll get a second one, so stay in place!"

Once sooped over, I first felt paddle being lined up across buttocks, followed by a quick tug to empty belt loop along waistband at the back of jeans I was wearing so as to pull the thick denim fabric tighter and eliminate any padding it offered. Next hard a whoosh as paddle was swung back and thrust forward, then as it landed on me the loud "Wham!" Felt a tingling sting across butt cheeks.

I briefly attended a private school where corporal punishment was allowed, but I was only there for half a year, and to my knowledge, no paddling occurred while I was a student there.

Obviously in public schools, this stuff had been abolished before I was even born.

The teachers were not allowed to ''paddle'' per say, but wrapping over the knuckles with a ruler (30cm one) was something that happened. And yes i did get it a few times.
