American involvement has only made Egypt worse. As an Orthodox Christian, I haven't forgotten about the time Obama appealed to Pope Shenouda in hopes that he would keep the Coptic community from protesting the Muslim Brotherhood. Furthermore, democracy only makes the Middle East worse since many of the nations are not ready for it yet. At least the autocratic dictators like Assad and previously Saddam were/are fair in that they only discriminated against those who opposed them regardless of religion whereas these new revolutionary "democratic" governments are fundamentalists who target minorities like Christians and Shias.
Yeah killing a whole lot of innocent children with poisonous gas sure sounds "fair"
Ex Republican Guard member now living in Belgium @jaqcuesvol says that Sadam was a great leader and those kurds had it coming.
@misscocobutter I never said it was, only that Saddam was at least an equal opportunity offender motivated by political goals. In other words, he targeted those who threatened his power regardless of whether you were Sunni, Christian, or Shia. Furthermore, he also maintained law and order despite being extremely strict and autocratic.
Look what has happened with his overthrow. Now Iraq is literally in anarchy what with ISIS and other terrorist groups taking over motivated by religious extremism who are literally waging genocide against Christians, Shias, and Yazidis as we speak. Overthrowing him creating a vacuum that left the nation in even worse shape than it already was.
Nobody ever said Saddam was perfect, but only that he was clearly the lesser evil. And in comparison to the new Rottweiler down the street ISIS, Saddam was merely a Chihuahua with anger issues.
Whatever he may have seemed he had the same agenda as ISIS, he just didn't have the ability at that time in history to pull it off. The world is in a lot more tenuous position now
@misscocobutter No, he didn't. Saddam was motivated by power, pure and simple. ISIS is motivated purely by religious extremism and will not stop at any costs. Whereas the former could be reasoned with, the latter is unreasonable and will not stop until they are killed. I reiterate: Saddam was an equal opportunity offender. Try speaking to Middle Eastern minorities like Christians, Shias, and Yazidis and you'll find that the majority of them actually preferred/prefer Saddam, Assad, and the pre-Arab Spring governments.
Yes he was motivated by power, but where does a motivation for power stop, at his borders? My point is he didn't have the ability to bring his plans to fruition because it wasn't the right time in world history
@misscocobutter In either case, Saddam did not massacre people discriminately. He was not motivated by the sole concern to wipe out minorities because he hated their very existence. He only targeted people who threatened his plan for power. Hence why minorities liked him better. ISIS is literally committing GENOCIDE as we speak for no purpose other than religious hatred.
He murdered his own son in law at the family dinner table, sounds like a great guy
@misscocobutter Sadam killed millions of his own people the only way to reason with sadam was at gun point. Its not like he was going to live forever.
They're not worth our lives.
Even @Omar5881 ?
i find the poll so offensive. Not sure if Americans are aware that Egypt was not originally a Muslim country, and that masses of them die everyday, christians and muslim. Who talks about this on the news though? No one. Paris though? break the internet.
Those barbarians do that all the time nothing new
"nothing new"
does it have to be 'new' to make an impact now? oh I'm sorry.
How many times have we trued to help and intervene only to find them at it again when we turn our backs?
and that is reason to give up? so many nations go through that around the world. egypt is no different.
Look at Iraq we freed them, gave them democracy and they wouldn't even fight for it.
maybe they couldn't. the question is about egypt anyway, don't digress lol.
We armed them with the best weapons and trained them into a professional army and they still couldn't beat ISIS. Anyway your right Egypt.
No. If they do not request aid, we should not take it upon ourselves to police them.
I think that's a major problem that we have: we have good intentions, but you can't help people if they DON'T want your help or never asked for it.
Why do Americans like to stick their nose in everything? Aren't you already fighting like 78 wars? Mind your own business for once. Maybe you would be less of a target then.
Because "FREEDOM" that's why!

Even as an American I find this poll kind of offensive and you do realize that in order for us to go in and help a country that own countries government has to give us permission to actually be there right? Otherwise it can be seen as an act of war there are a few times were that has not been the case but in general that is how it goes.
Yeah im talking about War.
no. Egypt is not a part of the US. they can free themselves. not our problem.
Ha-ha-ha-ha... The irony is real!
Your fellow Americans said a similar thing before they invaded Iraq and committed genocide against its innocent people.
I guess it's time for America to start minding their own business and stop putting their noses into other people's problems. But I don't see that happening.
Not unless you have a shit load of natural resources
They usually do or in Afghanistan's case are on the way to those resources
Free us from what? America is the cause of our recent problems and it's not your bussnius to free us and WHAT THE HELL DUDE you're 45 + ? I doubt it

The terrorists must be stopped. there's nowhere to hide. President Trump will save the day.
Let's try not to kill anyone this week. Egypt had freedom and they couldn't deal with it.
This is true just look at Egyptian national and terrorist sympathiser @Omar5881 he stated that he doesn't want freedom so obviously can't handle it.
Dude you act like an 8 year old
Not our job to.
I know its getting tiresome having to sort shit out since ww1 time for either Russia or china to have a go so uncle sam to kick back with a bud
