I have been around different places and Encountered Different faces ever since Graduating High School, @ShayanMortazavi1, and it just so happens that So Many different people living in what I call a"Melting Pot... You will Meet all kinds, All nationalities and Everyone in New York... Has a Story.
I Simply Mixed with the Good and the Bad, everyone Accepted me, I never really had a Problem, and in New York, Many will turn their back, which is whack, and of Course... No one wants to get involved if they don't have To.. It depends on the person. And remember, New York is a Fast paced City, Everyone is Either a hurry or has something Going on and or with trying to Make ends Meet.
However, during a Huge Crisis, You will find Millions... Pulling up their sleeves with no Leaves and Sticking around Town to Help and to to be There... This is When you will Actually Know They do Care to Share.
I think many cities are like this.

In any case, you are just seeing scenes from a big city. With the heart attack dude, probably a million zillion people called 911 on the spot -- and then left the job for professionals who'd show up, to do it.
I mean, what would you prefer? Would you want random amateurs to try to intervene in that situation? I hope not...

NYC is basically just like other big cities. If you don't like big cities, then you don't, but it's unfair to single out NYC as though it's that different from any other big city.

Actually, a general consensus is that someone else will do it and also you never know what the other persons agenda is. People probably walked by and called 911 but sometimes actually going to physically help someone is a risk in itself, one that lots of people won't take.

I think people who don't live here don't understand really how awful of human beings they are and the impact they have on South Florida society, it's not like living in the Midwest where people are generally friendly. Everyone has their noses up in the air and is completely distrusting of one another, say hi to a stranger and they'll likely not do it back or give you the death glare.

I've lived here almost all of my life, we moved to Washington a few years back, and moved back to New Hampshire. We have our problems; heroin addictions and power outages that can last for a week because of snow, and in my town, and we have our share of rich, entitled people, but every place has them. I have yet to find one state that doesn't have its share of rich, entitled people, and people who treat strangers coldly. We had two heroin overdoses, someone who fell and injured their back, and a cancer diagnosis in the past months, and the entire community helped out in any way they could, whether it was bringing someone a meal, helping plow or shovel a walkeay or roof, or simply providing a shoulder to cry on.

They lived a stressful life running full speed in the rat race to try and survive in one of the biggest cities in the world. They scrapped together all their money and moved to Florida because if they worked in NYC a minute longer they were going to have their 3rd heart attack. :D They're high strung and pissed off at the life they lead and really unhappy so they just spew that toxin everywhere they go. I had some bitch from NYC in a Mercedes cut me off and block the road to demand directions from me. I'm like WTF? She roles down her window and yells at me which way to whatever she wanted. I'm from New York and am not an asshole but we tend to be straightforward mostly. I think someone not helping the homeless on the street isn't exactly nice but then again, most of those NOT living in NY don't understand the added stress of living here. Expenses are extremely HIGH on everything - rent, food, etc., we're constantly under pressure to WORK and EARN.

Food$$$ is debatable. I haven't been anywhere in the US with more awesome dirt-cheap international food than NYC.

I mean, my idea of haute cuisine is street carts and hole-in-the-wall restaurants that primarily offre take-out, so, yeah... but, NYC is soooo full of $5 kebabs and $2 empanadas and $3 gyros and... oh yeah.

Everything else in NYC is way the fuck more expensive than it should be, given the general state of disrepair in which things generally exist. That, yeah. But that's kinda like big cities everywhere else, excepting only Tokyo (which gets destroyed every thirty years by some godawful earthquake, and is thus very modern lol)

yeah, gotcha—if yr shopping in midtown.
if you can do some planning and take a trip to one of the outer boroughs (which doesn't have to cost more than the price of a subway ride), though, you can get yr groceries at closer to normal prices... and a wider and fresher selection, too. if yr stuck with yr local midtown gristede's, then, I can see how that would get old pretty fast.

i always found it interesting that more people didn't do this. i mean, in more suburban places, people will totally make costco runs 30, 45 minutes each way.
but, going the same amount of time each way -- for just $2.25 or whatever a subway fare costs these days -- is just unthinkable for a lot of NYers.

in fact, now that i think about it, this is one thing lots and lots of the NYers i know have in common—they're really not that good at doing daily life tasks EFFICIENTLY.
which is ironic, considering how busy lots of them are. lol

it's a tough city to survive in. Have you seen their rent rates. Plus its all about money there. I saw a few youtube videos in new york where a bum fell and started fake heart attack, no one helped. Then I saw the opposite, a man in a nice suit got treated like he was the king of NYC. people are hungry in New York. Why waste your time on someone who can't help you out financially.
