+1 yStatistics matter, actions matter. If the statistics state that I am more likely to be mugged/murdered by a black person then a white, why would I not be allowed to judge them based upon that? I do not know them personally and the probability is high why should I risk my safety on the chance that I might offend a person who is not one of those statistics? Your feelings or my life which is more valuable to me? I think its fairly obvious. The real issue is, if you statisticly are more likely to be violent because of your ethnicity the response should not be do not judge all of them based upon the behavior of the many, it should be calling out that behavior, telling the black community to get its shit together and stop dragging you and every other decent black person down with them. You stop the statistics with your actions, you call out the community and demand that they become better either through your actions, by you calling them out when you see it or even by simply leaving that community and joining another. The fact is this has always been how it worked, it happened to the irish, it happened to the itallians it happened to every group that wished to acclimate into the larger society. You take care of your own house, neighborhood and if you can show that your things are in order then the society as a whole will let you in. As I said their was extreme racism against the irish (they where slaves too, something we like to ignore) thats why they where rail workers because no one would hire them for anything else but they made sure they had their act together and eventually they proved their worth to the society as a whole. Same with italians, they where all criminals as far as society was concerned thanks to the mafia. So they cracked down, it didn't matter who it was if you did wrong they would cut you out, they would call out your behavior to show that no they where not all criminals, once they did this they to where excepted into society as a whole. However for some reason this process is resisted by the black community, they do not call out bad behavior, they scream injustice when their clearly is not, constantly claiming victim hood when they clearly where not (trevon martin case is an example of one of those events). So no one is calling out the behavior so it conintues. No one is callign out the single mother issues in the black community so it only gets worse, or the drugs and violence. So if you do not condemn it then you are by extention condoning

it (at least as far as society is concerned). The fact is we cannot tell who is who, who is the gangbanger the criminal and who is the decent person, so if statisticly their is a large percentage of crime in those areas and in those communities commited by those ethnicities then those outside of it have to go based upon that. Its not that they hate black people its that black people simply have to prove themselves before being trusted since they are coming from that group with those statistics (9x more likely to commit armed robbery, 3x more likely to murder, 2x more likely to pull a gun on a cop). If thats all we have to go on how else would we make a judgment while also keeping ourselves safe? The issue is the inactivity of the black community, if the black community whent through the process that all others did, this would be a non issue. Now thats not entirely the fault of the black community (they are responsible for the bulk of it though) but also circumstances, for instance
- +1 y
originally a member of an ethnic group would start their business, grocery store what ever it may have been. They would then hire within their community and their ethnic group. This would create a bond within the community and it would bring jobs and income to said community. This would result in the community and its members being raised up, having a better quality of life because employment would be up and their would be businesses with in the community. This is not happening now so that is huring the black community, why this isn't happening I don't know, it could be do to the increase in chains which are owned by outside groups and thus most of the money leaves the area rather staying within it and also they do blanket hiring so its who ever gets it gets it. This is not helping the black community. The other issue is whites giving the black community excuses not to try. By saying nothing is the black communities fault (racism poverty etc) you are saying that they are helpless,
- +1 y
that they have no agency and as such should not bother trying to fix it becaus they can't. This in turn convinces those within the community that they should sit around and wait for the white man/government to come in and fix their problems, the very problems they have created, the problems only they, the black community, can fix (like single mothers, gang violence, poor education, etc). I am currently trying to deal with one kid who sleeps in class, refuses to do his homework and picks fights with his teachers (they tried to confiscate his yoyo that he was playing with in class, he told them no and ran off. He also tore up his report card right in front of his teacher). So what does his grandparents say? Its racism. No, its because they don't take an active measure in the kids life, that they tell him he doesn't have to do anything (undermining his mother who works nights to try and pay the bills as a nurse) this is what gives black people a bad reputation, and only they can fix it.
- +1 y
I have heard from many other succesfull black people that when ever they would read a book or speak in proper English other blacks from their community would accuse them of being white, they where hated being black because they wanted to go to school, read books make something of themselves. That doesn't help the black community and it most definitly doesn't help with the black communities reputation. Thats why when people meet you or others that you have to spend more time proving yourself then other people, because this is the place you come from and statisticly its not a good place. Its not fair on a personal level but then life isn't really fair, this is how it works and their is only one way to fix it and thats by showing people that this is not what black people are about, and it starts with fixing their communities. I hope that helps answer your question (I know it was a bit long winded).
Asker+1 yOk. I get it. I understand what you mean. I do agree with you, I'm personally frustated with the black community as well. I take notice on the ruthless things we do, I see it. I apperciate you saying that yeah the bad blacks do bring down the good ones. But on your first opinion you made, um I get it you can't tell good from bad always. But why do walk around in fear of us? I've read statistics saying the same thing, But I don't fear blacks, and no, it's not because they're my race and I understand them it's because I don't based on ethnicity. It kind of sounds like you don't either but part of me is unsure. But thanks for your opinion.

This group as well as rappers hurt the overall image of Black people by making them appear as rioters, people with a victim mentality, and people who can't hold a job or their pants.
I've met great Black people who are nothing like the aforementioned groups. Will Smith and Morgan Freeman are two of my most favourite actors, Chris Rock is a funny guy and Neil deGrasse Tyson is a brilliant astrophysicist. These are the people that need to be shown in main stream media not those thugs that give all Black people a bad name.211 Reply

@Afro-dite9 Mental slavery refers to always seeing yourself as the victim and not as a means to better yourself. It's a concept brought up by Nietzche I'm simply paraphrasing. There definitely need to be government programs to help lift people out of extreme poverty so that everyone can get an education, but what is done with that education is up to the individual.
- +1 y
Mental slavery also REFERS to people holding onto dumb ass negative ideologies about any race! *Pop's gum* I'm out✌
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI LOVE THIS! You know why, because you actually get people who write in like, really, people don't like black people? What? That's crazy? Let's get real. We are the most hated race on the planet, probably only second to anyone next in line on the dark-o-meter. You've got one party that thinks we're all just out here playing victims, you've got another section that's just plain and simple, racist as hell, then you've got the group that says things like "I'm color blind" which is stupid and untrue and often use every opportunity to point out something different b/t us/them, and then you've got people who have family or are dating one of us or biracial, so they can't really be any of the above, and then you've got other, that lovely section of other that just treats us like normal human beings just trying to make it in this world like everyone else. NO one has legitimately argued why it is we aren't globally and universally of all the races, the most hated racial group, b/c there is not argument against it.
Now just because I've pointed out, and you asker have pointed out, the obvious doesn't mean I'm bitter towards the entire world and everyone in it. It also doesn't mean there aren't nice, loving, respectful, wonderful people of all races. What it does mean is that despite all that, and those wonderful people, ahem, we are STILL of all the races the most universally loathed.10 Reply
People a are assholes and there are a lot of people alive in the 50's and that time period, older people, that think it's okay, and they project that into their children. It's sad but I'm hoping one day there will be no projecting it because it's such an outlandish and outdated disgusting thing, racism. I'm sorry you feel this way. I'm white and I can't imagine how much racism an average black person faces. It's so heartbreaking. But we don't all hate you, even if sometimes it feels like many other races hate blacks, there are still lots of good people out there who hate racism. Bad thoughts tend to overpower good and especially meonories so I can imagine it feeling like everyone hates on black people.

Asker+1 yOH YES THANK YOU! Like my update I made above this isn't trying to exclude you. So don't feel as if I was fishing for a white person's approval. But thanks for the sharing.
I feel like it may hinder you to believe that everyone outside of your race hates your race. I say that because then you might not give people outside of your race a chance to show you that they aren't all that way what so ever. Prejudice and racism knows no color - meaning there are bad people and good people in every nationality. To form your own opinion based on your personal experience and not accept other people's (or mass media's) beliefs as your own is probably best. Focusing on racism only continues the separation. I hope this made sense lol.

I grew up in Alabama and often was the only black kid in my classes. I've seen racist things with my own eyes that some people think ended years ago. I've experienced racist behavior first hand to the point where I thought my life was at risk. But day after day I meet people who treat me with kindness from all walks of life. It's really easy to be caught up and broken down by the negative sides of life. But what's always important to remember is you only focus on those things because they feel so abnormal, shocking, and wrong. The negatives are the small broken cracks in an overall peaceful reality but your brain's a natural problem solver that's inclined to look for and focus in on the problems. Take the time to look back on all the kindness that's been showed and overtime you'll notice it overshadows the hatred by far.
Also spend less time on the Internet. Anonymity is often just a way for people to express the most antisocial sides of their personalities without much repercussion.
And lastly if none of that helps do what I do and make it a life goal of yours to change as many people's stereotypes about people like you as possible. Work to show them you are good human too.21 Reply- +1 y

+1 ySome people hate black people for the usual racist reasons. Others are mostly afraid of them, especially because it is so easy to have your social and professional life ruined by being labeled as "racist" on camera. Everyone else is just tired of all the division between races that should have been expunged decades ago, or they simply don't care either way.
For me, I date black women exclusively. They are the only race that really pings on my sexual attraction radar. And I get a lot of flack for it because I'm white (I'm a mutt actually but for simplicity's sake, I say white and roll with it). Most of the time, that flack comes fro black dudes and black women, the former looking at me like I'm crazy for doing so and the latter trying to decide if I'm joking or trying to use my "whiteness" to pick up sistahs. Not to mention the pickings are quite slim here in Tennessee.
I don't hate black people. I do hate the assholes that keep pulling the race card for everything that goes bad in their lives and those jerks that make money off the ignorant by race-baiting the populace. Al Sharpton, for example, needs a swift boot in the ass and to be taken off the air.20 Reply824 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Thanks for the update - that makes me feel better. There have always been racial problems but frankly, they got a lot worse. When Obama was elected, there was a few months there when people talked about the triumph of equal opportunity and that sort of thing. Then racism really shot up in frequency. Perhaps this was a coincidence. Perhaps it was merely that racism was reported more frequently and publicly. But I really don't think so. There was a huge backlash of some sort to his election, just as there was to Lincoln's election. The intensity of hatred towards him and absolute unwillingness to acknowledge him as the President is not tied to his politics or his personality. Even the refusal to allow him to fill the Supreme Court seat is without precedent. All this seems to be largely racial. It spawned a kind of counter-reformation fed by the conservative media and ambitious politicians. Who can say when it will finally die down.
I wonder if Hillary is elected whether there will be a backlash against women?10 Reply444 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That is a wonderfully written opinion. The black community does have some big problems. One reason is there are political groups in this country that patronize blacks and sadly, many blacks buy into their bull shit. They think they really want and intend to help them but they do not. They have an interest in keeping them "down" because it gives them power and lots of money too. There is racism in this country. Every group is hated and every group has haters. Just yesterday a young black man on this site basically expressed it was ok to hate white people but white racists are evil. It seems like that is a very commonly held believe in the black community. Certainly not all feel this way and I would never assume that. Any hate is bad and every race has racists. It's so sad that blacks in America are where they are but I don't know what anyone can do until blacks themselves try to do more to improve the things that are wrong. If any other person of another race tries to say anything they see as helpful or could be helpful, if it's anything beyond what's commonly believed in the black community, they are racist when that's almost never the case. Some of them really want to help but if they are just demonized, they quit and that also discourages others from wanting to help. I don't know. It's a bad situation. I know there's great black people. You sound like one and I'm sorry that you're so troubled. I wish there were some black leaders that could help but either they want to continue with the status quo or if not, they're "uncles Tom's". Sad, sad.

+1 yI've had the most bad experience with blacks and middel easter/brown people.
I've been robed at gunpoint during teens and black friends always never return the favor to keep the friendship going etc. its how they are raised...
middle easterners and brown dudes are always putting up a sneaky front. they are sorta sweet with their words but have no accountability and often talk way too much... and will backstab you for an opportunity.
its not just TV etc.
you can find many personaly testimony and numbers dont lie... and I've read stats based on race in north American and blacks and Spanish haven't moved up at all in the last 40 years...
Asian americans will be richer than white americans very soon... think about that.16 Reply
Asker+1 yOh that was the point I was making is that even though yeah it's very unfortunate who had bad friends, and that even though you've seen stats. Why do you feel as if that makes us bad as a whole? Or makes hispanics or middle easterns bad as a whole?
- +1 y
to be honest, though there are awesome black people, a lot are not raised well... i mean i can state numbers off my head...75 percent to 80 percent born into single moms... same percentage are blacks in jail... they just often dont have the imprint from preceding generations...
if they got together or within families raised good kids, their image would change... but they haven't moved up in life for a while and crime and bad character often comes with poverty vicevera. - +1 y
Asians haven't marginalized to the extent the other minorities have.
Asker+1 y@Electronica Really you think so? Asians I thought were the least racist group?

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yHonestly my only problems with "black people" if we generalize is the often used victimization of self. I know not everyone is like that but I really don't want to have to back out of every argument or disagreement with a "I'm sorry" because the other person decided to play the race card and now I'll be an asshole if I do not automatically let them win.
Basically I'd be happy to be equal, but that's usually not what happens. Can't have the cake and eat it too. That's all.10 Reply

Somehow, because of the race war rhetoric that drives click bait, the only people that seem to be talking are the extremists on both ends. When that's in everyone's face all the time, they feel sensitive to judgement and criticism.

False. It is dead. As an overall societal trait, racism does not exist anymore. Sure there may be a couple old hillbillies, but that massive minority is not even enough to consider racism a prevalent thing.

It is not guess, it is seeing through what is facade to what is solid. You are not looking hard enough, you have not seen the change over time, you do not see it; and with that, i can not help you.
You dont see what happens today. You dont see how the world has changed. You want to believe this facade that is placed up by people seeking power and advantage; for what reason i dont know.
Racism, as a societal trait, is gone; there is no denying it. The only way that it may be possible to view racism as a mass societal trait is to view it as being targeted at whites; and even then, it is only because many people do a lot of field-tipping in favor of "minorities" for their own personal gain.
- +1 y
"i m also from the most ethnically diverse city in the world "
That is not a factor. I have traversed ten fold your miles. I have seen much more of diversity, of culture, or pain, of joy, or history, or creation, of destruction - of every human emotion or characteristic that has ever been felt or seen or heard of - and it has taught me much more; knowledge that you could only dream of obtaining; knowledge that you dont know even exists.
So dont you say that you are some wise man; some righteous being; for you only have your words, and your words speak otherwise.

@Bards @Electronica @truthhammer
Racism, as a mass societal trait is dead. You guys can call me all the names in the book but it will not remove from the fact that i am correct; in fact, your name calling only further discredits your supposed education. Your opinions do, however, support your use of the English language.
As to my education, I can say what it is but what reason would you have to believe me. I could tell you that I get almost perfect marks in all of my classes, i could tell you that i will be attending a course meant for PhD students at the University of Chicago (yes, that UofC), i could tell you that my team and i placed third in state at our ACADEC competition, i could tell you of the papers i have written and of the papers i have read; but what difference does that make to you? All you have to judge my actual intelligence, what cannot be obtained through the plain memorization that is emphasized so strongly, is by what i say. (continues...) - +1 y
But even then, conflicting opinions cause someone to appear a lesser in ones mind. That leaves us with one thing, writing. I have conveyed my opinions, here, at an adult level and have abstained from an uneducated use of the English language, such as name calling or false accusations or claims that have little to no basis. Unfortunately, i have not seen the same use from you.
Intelligence isn't just what you think, it is how you say what you think. I have explained myself clearly time and time again with the utmost clarity, i have proved myself to be intelligent. So no, I am not as you claim.
Secondly we must view with what mind you consider my opinions for they are not to radical that they should be even slightly disregarded. From your reactions, it has been apparent that you have little considered nor accepted my opinions. You put up a wall and deny any thoughts that dont match your preconceived notions, and that is inappropriate. (continues...) - +1 y
This portal was created as a way of expanding the human mind, you are actively working against its' basis that has been them same since its; genesis. I doubt you will even read my whole piece before drafting your reply (this, i admit, is just an assumption).
Forgive me for distracting from the actual matter at hand, but if you are to immature to use the internet and debate like adults, you shouldn't be on it at all. I dont find your comments very out of place, considering what you have shown of yourselves, but they are none the less inappropriate and not conducive of a basic level of etiquette that should be held when conversing with anyone.
I am only 16 (I am sorry for the website betraying you), yet i know that i have achieved more than the most. I have seen more than the most. I can speak with greater ability than most. I can act with greater certainty than most. I am more educated than most. I dont resort to name calling when in need of a proper argument, unlike most.
+1 yMore Black people in jail than in college... That's a fact... So go wonder how they landed there and why the people they stole... Beated up... Or killed are hating

Asker+1 yThat's exactly my point. -_- you're talking about the bad ones, bruh.
- +1 y
Now I don't hate black people... And some I love... But that explains why they are vied the way they are
Asker+1 y@lucasnabizada wait now you're confusing me. you view them this way or you think that's how they're viewed?
- +1 y
I don't think they're viewed like this by everyone but a lot of white people do... And for myself that's how I view certain portions of the Black community... Not every single black person... But those who you see in jails who are gonna go rape your daughter and vandalize your house, yeah I see them as cruel and dangerous... Barely has anything to do with raise... That's just how some people act and the way they are... If it was a gang of dangerous white guys would be the exact same thing
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yDon't know where you get this from.
The world seems to hate white people more it seems.21 Reply

China hates blacks more than America
- +1 y
No. They are doing biz with them.
- +1 y
China does biz with everyone. And yet China is one of the most racist countries on Earth. And it's not just because there is a lack of minorities there. Tolerance is low, there.
Also, try comparing America to Russia. See how that goes - +1 y
Are you black?
- +1 y
No, I'm white. Is this fact gonna be used against me in a court of law?

Asker+1 yNo, I know it's not, but I live in America so I only know what it's like to be here. I don't know what racism/prejudice is like in other countries.
- +1 y
They are not "doing biz", they are taking advantage of them and raping the African continent.

I don't feel like a victim.

Asker+1 yNo. I'm not saying blacks are victims or the world owes us something. I just wanted to know why we receive so much hatred in my experience it feels like no one in every race likes us.
+1 yif i could show you all of history you'd understand

Asker+1 yReally? If you're gonna show me some statistic (s) don't bother. I'm well aware of some of the ruthless crimes blacks have done. I'm not talking about criminals, gangbangers, and dopefiends despite my generalized question (which I've updated) I mean the ones who are striving for blacks to have a better image, for those who work hard, for those who are fathers, for those who are mothers, for those who aren't welfare using, or "ghetto", or uncivilized, or have just gave blacks a bad image in general. My question isn't justifying the bad apples of the black race.

that's not what I'm talking about at all, you have been taught it since you where a kid, you don't even know it, it's on TV cartoon for kids on a regular basis, and you are probably a little racist yourself just cause of these things
Asker+1 yoh... wait what do you mean? like beauty standards? like how blonde hair and fair skin is considered prettier?
- +1 y
EVOLUTION, its been around for thousands of years and it messes with peoples heads, Hitler believed in evolution strongly look what he did, here in america they killed thousand of people caused they believed they where a lower lvl animal , and kids are taught this in school everyday subconsciously without knowing it they don't pay attention if you want the information let me know
+1 yI don't hate black people. I hate evil people, regardless of skin color.
