Which is worse, hate or indifference?

Both are bad, indifference is worse, but it depends on translation

Hate is a real emotion rooted in fear and shame. At least they are feeling something, but it is poinsonous. It can lead to aggressiveness and outward acts of violence.

Indifference is lack of emotion and not caring which can result in allowing harm to be done to another person or yourself. It can be created by media and society and conditioned (hitlers era or pretty much any war). I may be indifferent to the presidential candidates because don't like either... that isn't so bad. Or I may walk past a woman being abused by a group of men because I don't care and it isn't my issue... that is really bad.

I'd rather deal with the hate unless it is extreme like "skin heads". If it is general... I "hate" you because you hurt me... that is easier to deal with.

let's take... ethnicity for an example.
if i walk down the street, and someone of X ethnicity walks past me, and I am indifferent to their ethnicity, we both keep walking.
if I walk down the street, and someone of X ethnicity walks past me, and I hate their ethnicity, that type of emotion could potentially trigger violence.

People hurt each other because of hate.

Now, arguable, if I were to be so vile as to attack someone because of senseless hate, and someone saw it and just walked on by, because they were indifferent, they have done something vile and evil too, by allowing the violence to continue unchalleneged. But it was the hate that initiated the violence to begin with. No one ever started a fight or targeted someone for harm based on their indifference to that person.

To hate you actually feel something, even if it's bad about another person, not saying being hated is good but indifference you have no feelings at all and couldn't care either way, which i think is worse because you have a lack of interest, sympathy, or concern, which means that the person doesn't even exist and you wouldn't care enough to acknowledge that.

Hate is more feral, primitive, mind of its own, unpredictable, can rip your skin and explosively cause damage.
Indifference is more controlled, crafted, fixed, can crawl under the skin and insidiously cause damage.

Hate is probably more of an immediate threat, so I'm gonna say hate is worse. But indifference can be truly scary as well.

I would say indifference because at least when you show hate, you are showing that you actually care (just not in the best way). But when you show indifference, its like you gave up.

It depends entirely on the situation.

Say you have a hateful person viciously beating another person. Who would you find less human, the person being physically violent? Or the person sitting right beside the incident who cares not to take any steps at all to prevent the savage beating?

Hate could also refer to a persons feelings towards the senseless violence, I personally hate violence. While indifference is just that, totally uninvested in the world around it.

I would say indifference is worse in most of the cases, with some exceptions in which hatred could be more heinous

Indifference. Person A might hate Person B, but Person B can make peace with it and get on with his life. If that hatred turns into action, people will stand behind the side of good.

Indifference is worse because no one has any convictions, at least none that they are willing to put into action. This, linked with moral relativism, is dangerous.

Indifference for sure. When you hate someone you are giving them attention and everybody likes attention. However, when you're indifferent to someone, you ignore them. And nobody likes to be ignored.

I'd say hate.

It's bad when you're in a sticky situation and someone doesn't care. It's even WORSE when you're in a sticky situation and an angry person decides to PUNCH you in the face on TOP of that.
