Would be curious to know :)
What do you think about Italians?
Would be curious to know :)
Well, here are the first things that come to mind when I think of Italian *women* in particular:
• They are strikingly beautiful!
• They don't necessarily shave armpit hair.
• They have lower (and sexier / more sultry) voices than most other women.
• They socialize more like stereotypical men -- they are forward, outgoing, often with a crude sense of humor.
• They drink wine... ALL THE TIME... even on Wednesdays at 9:30 in the morning.
• They NEVER go to the gym, but they still maintain decent bodies just by being active overall in life.
• They have no hang-ups with mathematics or science (as opposed to the way so many American girls/women reflexively say "I'm bad at math").
• They are VERY culturally literate -- they are thoroughly familiar with and respectful of their country's patrimony, and they know the classics of art and literature.
• They stay up late, sleep late, and don't eat much food until about midnight.
• They HATE being alone! They are almost ALWAYS surrounded by friends or family, unless they are working or sleeping (and even then, lmao).
• They are always 5-15 minutes late... for everything, all the time, EXCEPT Catholic Mass and Inter or AC Milano matches.
• They are PASSIONATE, both in love and in fights. They wouldn't be happy in a relationship WITHOUT passionate arguments every now and then.
• They are exceptionally empathetic.
• They are VERY nurturing when a friend or family member is sick or injured (almost to the point where they won't leave that person alone... even if that person *wants* to be left alone).

Disclaimer: These are not stereotypes -- these are my own personal experiences. I lived in Milan for a couple years in my twenties, and these are things I actually remember about the Italian girlfriends I made there.
... also, I was working in the fashion industry when I was there. So, full disclosure, this is a set of observations about a certain number of friends who were all
• living in Lombardy,
• originally from northern or central Italy (Sicilian girls would be WAY different...),
• generally involved with fashion in some way,
• English-speaking (since I didn't know enough Italian to socialize with monolingual speakers),
AND
• highly social.
Soooo yeahhh these may not apply to all or even most Italian women. Lmao. But, there ya go.
@Bluemax I remember a lot of singing, yh. But pretty much either social singing, or carefree solo singing (like singing in the shower, but not just restricted to the shower).
... in other words, not in any way that would impose on others.
If you've ever heard a woman just randomly belting out gospel music in a Southern waiting room / on a bus / in line at the grocery store etc., that's what I mean by "possibly imposing on others". (Doesn't bother me -- I like all sorts of spontaneity, of that kind -- but, obvi I can see how it would get old pretty fast to others.)
Oh, and, unlike people in east Asia, Italians will actually sing a lot when they're still perfectly sober. lol.
Depends what kind. I'll assume you're not referring to New York Italians. 😅
If we're talking Italians from Italy, I think of physically attractive people with a sharp sense of style and fashion, as well as having excellence and skill in all things culinary. People who are rooted to their rich culture and tradition yet very outgoing, welcoming, friendly, caring, and very expressive (see above GIF for example, as well as having the tendency to kiss others upon greeting). Italians I have met are very classy, well-bred, well-mannered and keen on abiding to appropriate social norms in Italy and in other countries as well. I've found them to be very intelligent and deep thinkers, who at the same time know how to have a good, amusing time with others. Generally, they're well-rounded people, with a culturally-traditional yet very free-spirited mindset and outlook on life. I very much look up to two of my good friends who are Italian, as they always advise me and always bring a lively, positive atmosphere with their presence.
Well, I'm glad to hear that coming from an Italian - it's my pleasure! And yes, it's a shame people describe you guys with pizza and Ferraris, there is so much more in your culture which I admire, thanks to my friends, of course, who are the best representation I can think of. :)
New York Italians keep the food, the family closeness, and the Catholic traditions, as far as I've understood haha! They've become more American in that sense, but they've still got it in them. :D
You should be! I'm glad, and also glad to be an American who sees past the stereotype of Italians! :D
Thanks for MHO :)
I love their temperament, they tend to be very expressive and fun to be around. They have strong bonds with their families.
Italian guys are hot as hell, they love complimenting girls and make them feel special. I knew two Italian guys, Filippo and Demetrio and both of them were very handsome and funny.
Love Italian language, It is so melodious!
Prego sorella <3
Well, the Italians I've met are very friendly and talkative. And I mean Italians from Italy, not people whose ancestors are from Italy.
My parents visited Italy many times. I remember them telling me Italians sing... a lot.
My colleague went to Italy recently and when she was in her twenties in college. She told me when she was in her twenties she was furious that Italian men grabbed her butt. Now she's furious they didn't grab her butt.
Well I am half Italian but the first thing i think of for woman is a this beautiful woman who's body has been kissed by the sun. She usually has a light holter top that can bairly contain her round full beautiful breast and is barefoot. As for men and sadly what is most often associated is the mofea.

don't really think much of a italians one way or another. like everyone i judge people based on them as individuals
Mi piace l'Italia!
I like how linguistically diverse Italy is. From Abruzzese to Sicilian, Italy can be a home of dialects that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Not to mention, it still fascinates me that Italian has a lot in common with Spanish, like "Ciao" and "Chao", and "amo" as the word for love in both languages.
Speaking with your whole body, great architecture, amazing food.. first things that come to mind. At which time of year would it be best to visit Italy?
Outgoing and friendly people. I went to Italy summer 2k16. Me and my family drove by car first to Venezia, passed Bologna and then we went to San Marino (It's a country not belonging to Italy if I'm right?) and then drove over the mountains to Grosetto-Piombino-Pisa-Milano and then home. I absolutely loved it, your food is amazing and it's so much fun to speak Italian!! (Although my italian sucks) haha.
I'm half Italian, there really isn't anything to hate about us, unless they are full of themselves or have a pushy attitude. I hate when some try to be funny with that kind of Italian accent shit, or when they do that hand motion like in that pic above. I grew up around a lot of Italians, not from Italy, but grew up in Canada. Some of them were annoying as kids
That hand motion, and other motions, and other things we do, is something Italians in Italy do, and since you are not used to it and you did not grow to it it does get on your nerves :)
In here it's normal to be loud, annoying and to do a lot of hand motions and talk a lot... we find it normal lol
I know, I've been to Italy and have seen that. Though I mostly was in tourist locations. I wwishI grew up really learning the language, but nobody around me speaks it. My grandparents were the ones to come over to Canada, hey came from Molise. I feel like I spelled that wrong lol
I may try to learn it one day, but I'm too busy trying to find a bloody job or go back to school. It's annoying lol.
Have you ever watched the movie" where to invade next'? It's a documentary made by a US filmmaker named Michael Moore. E goes to different countries and shows how they are doing things better than the USA. He went to Italy on his first trip and interviewed one couple, one who was a police and the other I believe was a factory worker for a clothing company.>>
Is it true that all Italian citizens get 8 weeks of paid vacation time? Also is it true that all Italians can make ends meet no matter what job they have? I may have more questions
No not all italians have 8 weeks paid vacation time, it all depends if you work in state institutions or private companies, in my company we get at least 5 weeks paid vacation so.. and i don't know what you mean by ends meet i don't know what that is if you can explain lol :)
sure go ahead
Making ends meet means that you can pay your bills, take care of yourself and your family if you have one. Basically being able to take care of he basics and necessities of life, live on your own own a house or apartment or whatever.
Well I think about the Roman empire as I love history.
I think about the caravaggio since he is my favourite painter.
Think about italian movies too and the western spaghettis.
Think about the church.
Finally pizza and football even if I am not interested into them as I am in the other
The very first think is the Italian map. Oh, and I always remember that the parents of one my grandmothers were Italian, they moved to Brazil in the beginning of the last century, probably between 1910 and 1914, so I'm a great grandson of Italians.
I love Italians, though I'm a little biased towards southern Italians then the northern ones.
I agree. Northern Italians tend to be cold and a little more egotistical. Southern Italians are harder to understand but really sweet lol
I do not know a single Italian and what I mean by that is someone actually from Italy.
I've never really met any italians before but i think theyre great people!
The first thing that comes to my mind is of course, lasta, specifically lasagna
They just seem a bit foppish to me, as much as anyone can make pronouncements about a whole nation of people :) Instinctively, I don't feel I have anything in common with Italians more than any nation in Europe :)
The hand gestures when speaking.
I don't know why I always think of them saying "Italiano" with the hand gesture and accent.

Some of their cities look beautiful!! Like Naples!
@BarbaraP
^^ one of my favorites on GaG but she's not active anymore
All the ones I met - and I've met quite a few because I live in the country right across from them - they're very sexually aggressive - as in they don't take no for an answer... and they're very persistent.
I've not met any girls, though...

i was born here, raised here and honestly i haven't seen any of that yet lol
Haha We at least have the same hand gestures...
I went to Italy few times and visited Roma, Venezia, Ancona, Bari and Genoa. What can I say its a good country with great historical artifacts. You have also cool people, I didn't feel like I was a stranger because most of your citizens behaviour and attidue just like people in here, thats because we are both Mediterranean countries I think.
Italian chicks are hot by the way ;D And some of your males look like Turkish, like your boyfriend lmao.
Italians are cool and a lot of the girl's are hot and cute.
Well those dudes look doofy AF but before I read that the question made me think "Shit I gotta call my nona"
Yes and no she's testy when I don't call
I get a evening pic
Sun is setting in a small town
A place I want to visit someday 😇
Especially Rome, Venice, Naples and Florence..
And yes, pizza 😜🍕
😍😍
Omg lucky you!!!
Wish I knew more lol, y'all seem cool and could get some recipes
Every Italian woman I've been with has been kind and caring and sexual, but also unfortunately crazy.
