There are a lot of stereotypes about us, and sometimes they are not true or they are exaggerated.
So tell me all you think, but not be hateful, because this question is made just to have fun.




I did a similar question a long time ago, and I am pretty curious about what people think about Italian, I want to see if people change their mind or the stereotype are always the same, hahah.

What do you think of Italians in general? And about Italy?

I've been to Italy and a lot of them aren't stereotypes. I was harassed for posting negative reviews. One even went as far as to track down my private Instagram account. Italians never take any accountability. It's always someone else's fault.

One of my tour guides looked like she wanted to beat me up because I said American pizza is better. And she had the nerve to say pineapple on pizza is disgusting, when I saw a restaurant in Rome serving pizza with French fries on it! I saw an Italian get pissed at Gordan Ramsay because he said Greek food is better. I saw another video of an Italian trying French food and he was struggling so hard to not admit that he likes it. One girl who moved to Italy was filming a video in France, but talking about Italy. You people have a superiority complex and it's pathetic honestly! Mario Batali could fry up a turd and you guys would say it's the best food on earth just because an Italian made it. And yes, Italian food IS just pizza, pasta and sea food! I saw nothing else in the Italian restaurants. The best restaurant I ate at in Rome was a Pakistani fast food place. So many people I've talked to said Italian food abroad is better

And as for Rome, I've never seen so many liars, robbers and con artists in one city. I don't think there is one honest person in that city. First world city with third world people.

In Positsno some young pretty boy asshole was riding his segway right in front of our face. And some fat fuck almost ran over my mom's foot with his moped, because she sat in his chair.

I even saw a tour guide online who said not to even talk to her if you support Meloni, so I can't imagine what she would do to a client she found out supports Meloni.

Venice which I heard is supposed to be the most asshole city turned out to be the friendliest and most pleasant.

I know you said this is fun and don't be hateful, but I will be hateful, because someone finally needs to put you people in their place! Because you people have a superiority complex and it's so annoying and pathetic! Especially since the further south you go, the shittier the people are.

I never understood why people hate Italians so much, but now I do. You guys wouldn't bother me so much if you acknowledged your flaws/short comings and didn't think so highly of yourselves. Your food is mediocre and you scam tourists, but you think so highly of yourselves!

And I didn't even mention how horrible Rome's airport is, and I won't get into it because that will be a whole other rant.

The country is very beautiful and interesting, but it has some very shitty people. Not so much in the wealthier regions, but in the poorer regions. It's not high on my list of places to return.

You sound like a child who has no knowledge of the world. Italian food is just pizza, pasta and seafood? Italian cuisine has everything: fine wine, beer, many aged cheeses and dairy products, meat recipes, vegetable recipes, even Christmas traditional sweets and cakes. Google pastiera, panettone, pandoro, roccocò, struffoli. These are just traditional Christmas sweets/cakes, google frolla napoletana, or cassata siciliana.
You simply didn't get to enjoy what our cuisine offers because you didn't even know what to look for here. Blame yourself!

I didn't bother coming up with an answer because what you say about ''my people'' doesn't make any sense and doesn't deserve attention, Italy is safer than many other first world countries and not much more dangerous than safer countries, there are statistics that show it and prove it. I wasn't triggered by what you said about our food, but too many foreigners believe Italian food is just sauce and pasta and I wanted to explain it is not true.

@BiancaSN I never said it was unsafe, although some parts are. I'm just speaking from my own experience. I found some pig at the market and a trattoria in Venice that served meats, but it wasn't Italian food. In Sardinia and Emilia Romana they eat more meat, but meat is for rich people and special occasions and Italians think it's not very healthy. I ordered Chicken Alfredo and tortellini and there was barely any meat in it.

And what pissed me off most about the scammers is they were operating in full view of police and police didn't do anything. I have no respect for people who lie and scam.

Keep in mind that I have only visited Rome. Many people there were rude.
I didn't notice that behavior only towards me, but towards other foreigners as well. It might not be true when it comes to other cities or it might be just the bad luck of speaking with the wrong people at the wrong time, or it might just be my own experience, but I am being sincere.
I enjoyed the food a lot and I liked the monuments too, but I didn't expect to have such a bad experience with people.

I am sitting here and literally wracking my brain trying to think of a stereotype I've heard about Italians.

The only thing I can come up with is I really like the food styles they've perfected, and honestly I wouldn't even call that a bad stereotype, more of an accomplishment.

As for the people... maybe they have nice, strong noses? But then again, everyone's different and genetic phenotypes seem to hit the randomizer button on everyone, so...

I'm going to say "I can't really think of anything noteworthy about Italians, and I have a generally positive opinion of them at the moment." 🇮🇹

As for Italy itself, I don't know much about it. The pictures I've seen and maybe Assassin's Creed 2 (hundreds of years in the past) are about all I know what it looks like. Still have a positive opinion for now, but maybe reality isn't what it's always cracked up to be. But really, that's anywhere in the world. Online pictures tend to be what people *want* you to see.

Open, demonstrative, joyful, loyal, family-oriented, hearty partiers, kind, giving, empathetic, the list of positives goes on.
On a potential negative aspect, severe vindictiveness if they perceive something as being a slight to them, whether true or not, but people of all ethnic backgrounds can be subject to exhibiting such behaviors.

The first thing that comes to mind is the accent, like Charles Martinet's Mario.

I want to say that that voice set the standard for that stereotype, but I have never personally seen anyone have an issue with it, probably because it is meant to be exaggerated for a cartoonish effect.

Honestly I’ve only had limited interactions with real full blood Italians. I dated an Italian American girl (her mother was a full blood native Italian. Dad was an American white guy. But judging my experience with her really doesn’t count.

I know Italian men (and the Irish) used to have a reputation for being white n******s decades ago. Especially in the east coast. But that negative stereotype has really died out in recent times.

Depends on what you like and also depends on the season where you would come. In summer, I would say the south, there are the best beaches but there is also a lot of culture given to all the invasion we had, Greek, roman, Arabia and Spanish.
The north is beautiful too, lot of historical and cultural element too
