Usually I think of "Pizza pizza!" sorry I know that is stereotype but I hope it's a good stereotype. Usually they're comedic like Steve Carrell

Joe Truglio

Stanley Tucci

But that's just the men and the women are a whole other thing ha ha.
You know funny you mention it. From a very early age, my grandpa and uncles taught me how to be a pizzaiolo, so that’s a good one. Always good to have nice sense of humor too! 👍🏻
Let me go through the list
That we are
related to mobsters (Actually true in my case)
Idiots, (I have an IQ in the 98th percentile so definitely not true)
Stubborn (True in my case)
Hairy (also true in my case but male baldness is determined by your maternal grandfather, who in my case had a full head of hair till the day he died, I'll take the hairy arms, legs, and feet like a hobbit if I won't go bald)
when angry prone to expressing how they feel instead of bottling all your anger up (If I'm angry people can tell, it has made certain family dinners awkward but its better than bottling the anger up because that'll eat you up)
Loud (Very much so)
That we can cook (I can cook very well thank you)
Great list. Few questions notes:
- Which mobster are you related to?
- The MPB and the maternal grandmother theory was debunked. It has to do with your entire genomic mix. (Hope you won’t go bald though and same for myself)
- Everything else you mentioned I a true and we definitely aren’t stupid.
A guy you've never heard of,
My Great-Grandfather fled sicily because he killed the wrong guy, some of his sons, my great uncles got involved with the Winter Hill Gang in Charlestown including one being gunned down in a bar. My Grandfather was an exception cutting ties with his entire family when he turned 18 because he didn't want to live like that, its telling he outlived some of his brothers despite dying in his 50s, and no my grandfather wasn't murdered, he just smoked 2 packs a day and ate sausage, peppers, and eggs every single day and had a stroke in his 50s and died before I was born.
My family weren't any of these fake gentlemen, they were nobodies and thugs and they died violently in Boston and its suburbs because of it.
I'm also of, Irish, Scottish, English, German, French, descent and like 350 years ago I have an Ancestor who was a Wampanoag Native American.
My Paternal Grandfather is a retired economics professor that does Genealogy as a hobby
Mommas boys lol which if mom isn’t pleased then it’s a no.. nothing will be enough not even the pasta you think is great because his moms will always be much better.
Lol sounds about right
The one I think about is the zoot suit.

Haha good old days

Haha, well, I’m from the northeast so there are some pretty... colorful... Italians up here😝
I’d probably just say it’s one of those things like they say about Ivy Leaguers, Marines, etc... “How do you know someone is Italian? Just shut up and let them talk, they’ll tell you within a minute or two.” The Irish are like that here too. So I guess the more friendly way to spin that is they’re a very proud people.
Yeah but I have less bad experiences with Italians ha ha but Irish people are good too yes
@Tea-Spaghetti haha, the Irish kids are probably the most wild around here. My girlfriend grew up in and around NYC though, she had all kinds of Italian friends, and not just Italians, mid-2000s Jersey Shore-inspired guido Italians lmfao. Said they were the craziest combination: they go tanning and get manicures and pedicures and all kinds of hair treatments by day, then at night they’d probably stomp somebody out and put them in the hospital lmfao
Yeah I guess but I personally have more bad experiences with Irish Americans cause they tend to be racist and narrow minded I think it’s partly a Catholic thing but also just their personalities.
oh well there's bad apples everywhere yeah...
@Tea-Spaghetti pretty consistent with the Boston Irish, haha
@WhiteSteve this was so entertaining to read, especially the guido part because I knew a bunch and they literally did just that 😂
*There is the organized crime aspect, but that more applies to Sicily and Sardinia.
*The food and wine culture.
*Expressive and passionate.
*Celebrates traditional femininity
*Construction trades.
*Poor quality control in mass produced cars.
Good list honestly! Though organized crime in America isn’t strictly related to those with descent from Sardegna and Sicily. Pretty much most of the Southern regions have had their fair share; Campania, Calabria, Puglia, etc. The origins of it in the homeland was Sicily. You’re spot on with the list!
I think so too. Not gonna happen anytime soon though!
They are usually very enthusiastic and generally fun people to have around. They make the best drinking buddy, however, some of them come off as too confident to a point where they are cocky.
Definitely true
I don’t know if this is stereotypical, but whenever I spot a Italian American. I think “yay, someone who understands me.” I’m Mexican/Puerto Rican by the way 😅😂🤣
Cool, you guys are good people! How do you mean? Understand you in what sense, can you elaborate?
Just food, family culture, passionate arguments.
Oh yes yes, definitely haha!
it is because we have and share the same culture, there has always existed a misconception of who the Italians and Sicilians are- We are never thought of as Latins. This is strange since it was the Roman Empire that brought in the Latin and were Latins. Latin's and Latino's is a culture thing. The Italians and Sicilians were the brown people of Europe-you have to know history to understand this
@IIcanon I agree with you. We have Latin blood and we always were discriminated against in Europe and America, which is why I’m more proud of my Italian blood. We faced difficulties, never changed our culture and what we stand for. God, family, and work ethic.
Catholic
Pasta
Talk with hands (especially the thumb and the fingertips thing)
Mafia
Big families
Fast cars
Olives
Boisterous
Fashion
Spot on
Great hair
Nice accents
Kisses their fam a lot
All are true and spot on 👌🏼
Haha
I view Italians as close to their mothers and social and confident and in big families
All true
I never been around itltian before.
But I'm assuming pizza pasta and something about MA!
Or scar face and the godfather
Lol that’s definitely what’s on TV but there’s more to our culture of course! Pizza, pasta and ma are priorities though!
Making pizza from scratch at mom and being really into having big families
Both are true
Mama boys, loud, talking with hands, like pasta, gold jewelry, mafia, gun, etc.
Lol yeah these are the stereotypes that Hollywood associated with us, but they're accurate in some cases
You're really annoying, do you understand what a stereotype is or not? Because you don't seem to grasp the context. Everyone know that not ALL Italians are like that but this is the stereotype so why do you keep bothering me repeating the same stuff over and over again? Seriously?
There’s the guido stereotype, the mafia stereotype.
I see these stereotypes. They’re true for some too. Gotta be honest!
they speak with an accent, completely
some people, likely immigrated when they were 1, and grew up around the American accent.
You mean like an Italian Italian accent or an east coast Italian accent?
I assume they or someone in their family owns an Italian restaurant and talks with their hands.
Lmao almost always true
Pizza and spaghetti! I'll leave it at that because I don't want my thumbs broken..
Haha no you’re good and it’s knee caps not thumbs, right? How would I know though. I got nothing to do with that
Exactly. I may or may not know more about the maf.. I mean honest working Americans!
They all think were connected to the mafia in some way
Hahaha not all
Oh don’t get me started on this! I face the same kind of shit too
That you eat spaghetti and cannolis every day. That Italian men are hung like a horse. Also that they all love Jersey Shore.
The old generation probably did eat spaghetti and cannolis pretty often. I don't know how accurate the Jersey Shore part lol
Most big nosed greasy paisanos are on steroids.
Damn WAP’s.
Italians are the best friends you can have 😍
I agree. Why do you think so though?
Worked with Italians for almost three years and traveled to Italy many many times. Had the best mentors, teachers, colleagues and friends from Italy. And so far my favorite place to be. And I've done my fair share of traveling and living abroad and dealing with many nationalities. Italians are just something different 🌹❤️
Glad and proud you think so ❤️🌹
when i see people talk shit about us Italians/Sicilians and think like in stereotypes about us, i figure they are not worth my time and effort to try to warm up to people such as this as they already have it set in their mind and who would want to know people who are think this way anyhow
@llcanon The thing is I don't know how Italians are in America. I'm not American. The Italians I knew where still living in Italy and although they enjoyed scaring the shit out of me with crime stories they also were very protective. There are a million thing I loved about Italians. I still am friends with many. I went for a short course to Roma Sapienza University and despite all the bad. Italians wear their heart on their sleeves and are generous and know how to enjoy life. No community is perfect. But I guess I was blessed to not experience something ugly from Italians. Yes my friends got robbed. Like badly. But I have another friend who lived in Italy for three years and also got robbed many times. And I'm aware of the violence after football matches. But hey also the British are like that. I know I also lived in the UK lol. So despite all the bad I can only speak of my experience. And I personally never enjoyed a culture more than the Italian culture. lol minds you I never dated one which might changed my mind lmao. My friend did for years and he drove her crazy and eventually it turned out ugly and they separated. So I was never involved in Italian family drama. hahaha I guess I was lucky with my experience with Italians. It was very positive.
mama mia pizzeria! Don't toucha my haira
Haha take it eaaaasy
You asked for stereotypes! lmao
I know I’m just saying what a NY Italian would say. I loved your answer 😂
Oh ok, now I'm imagining you saying "take it eaaasy" in a cute little accent!
I do that on a regular basis.
that's cute lol
I love light skin brown men hehe
Well thanks! I’m one
Mafia
Mommy's boys
Get easily offended
These are pretty common stereotypes
Indeed
I love the women. I have dated 6 of them
Nice! Be careful when they get angry.
They absolutely do and the talk over everyone else because that's how they grew up.
If they were around alphas, they wouldn’t
I mean in a family setting like dinner, or a family argument. Everyone is talking over each other
You got that right they do
And by the way, I am very Alpha
Nobody questioned that. I don’t know you to say otherwise. I was just making a general rule the way I see it.
No problem, Just clarifying
That they're obnoxious, loud and all talk like Brooklyn people
Brooklyn people are obnoxious to you?
We're talking about Italians. Not really, they just talk funny
Min 5:53 of this video:

Aren't all Italian Americans Sicilians?
No absolutely not! There are many Italian Americans from Calabria, Puglia, Campania, etc.
So basically southern Italy.
Another sterrotype is Italian business owners have to pay protection money to the mob
I’m just saying the majority is. I’m sure there are northern Italian Americans.
Certainly but not as many. Because they're richer so can built a good life for themselves in Italy.
Mafia, Godfather, Canolis
I’d take the cannoli stereotype. I played in an amateur neighborhood soccer team and we named it Cannoli FC lol
no tony soprano?
Well that could be true in some cases but it’s very overhyped
That the food they cook is italian.
My grandparents live in sicily, I've only visited them once 4 years ago, and let me tell you, everything there tasted a lot different
A lot different than Italian American you mean? Well depends. In NY, there are lots of good Sicilian spots that taste exactly the same. Sicily is a whole different experience though.
Food in italy just tastes more basic. They don't use a lot of salt and the places they buy food aren't like walmart or your local grocer, it's all really fresh, cheese tastes a lot different there, pizza tastes a lot different pasta tastes different, wouldn't say it's BETTER not saying it tastes better or it's superior but it's more simple, some stuff like red sauce and pasta, also bread, and cheese is A LOT better there, but as far as entire meals go it isn't insanely better, I still prefer ny pizza
No I totally agree with you. What you’re saying makes a lot of sense. I go to Italy to visit my distant family and food there is more basic and fresh like you said. I prefer their Napoli style pizza over NY pizza, but both are good.
Like my boss is a die hard italian has an Italian license plate cover italian wallet etc etc, but like, I don't know. Im fully italian on both sides but I don't consider myself an authentic italian like he does. He's really into his nationality, I am too sorta but a lot of italian americans are like ride or die lol
Exactly like one of my cousins here in NY. Got his Vespa, Saint Gennaro pendant, and you can always smell his cologne from a mile away. 😂
Yea there's a high concentration of italians in ny, also where I live in Philly and jersey, lot of good food up here.
greased up hair
Lol yeah
They smell like curry.
Your mom does
