Should ROTC cadets be ashamed of wearing their uniform in public?

I've heard that ROTC cadets shouldn't wear their uniforms in public because it's disrespectful to those who actually serve. Would it seem disrespectful if I wear my uniform out in public?

in Canada I saw an ROTC cadet shopping in uniform and I was embarrassed for him, then angry at him. I dwelled about it all day, fighting the urge to drive back and confront him.

in my own personal opinion yes but also no.
the kid i saw was at a pharmacy and for all I know was given permission to go get a prescription.

but it felt wrong. bottom line it felt and looked wrong.

I don't necessarily mean going out all the time in uniform like it's a fashion, but if I were to come back from something and I wanted to go to chipotle right after would that be acceptable.

drive through was invented so servicemen could get their food -fast- while in uniform.

it is not seen as appropriate to shop in bdu's or any other military garb. It's attention desperate and reflects poorly on military standards. however I don't know what the attitude in America is regarding that issue but I imagine it to be parallel because our militaries are very similar
