Figuring out how society will work once robots and AI can do almost all human jobs & that day is fast approaching. First all of the truck drivers, cab drivers and delivery drivers will be put out of work.

That's millions of people in each developed country.

I do not believe that people used to making a decent living and feeding their families will just quietly become homeless. They would be smarter to form gangs that take what they want from people with money. And there are not enough cops or even military to deal with millions of people doing that.

And this is just a drop in the bucket of al the jobs computers can replace.

There's no proof there won't be jobs for them. Having cheaper prices makes society richer overall. Maybe overall hours worked will lower like how the work week has dropped by 20 hours a week over the last century which can improved society overall.

That's assuming the robot company doesn't just go cut throat and offer free rides for 3 months to kill off the competition. Those millions of people can still offer lots of benefits to society in other ways. Plus a large amount of people will be needed to repair equipment in the cars.

We can do that pretty easily by stopping future medical research and by stopping building new medical facilities, equipment and new technology. Basically we stop trying to improve medicine and our ability to broaden what we can treat. We keep medicine the same. Costs would stay the same or would lower.

If you put medicine as a metaphor of buying a car, people want what newest treatment can do. They want the Tesla or Ferrari of treatment. They don't want the Honda they can afford. People feel entitled to the most recent technology and want it cheap. They don't consider how much themselves as consumers have to pay. They want the companies to do it cheaply though. Of course it's ridiculous for everyone to expect to have Lamborghinis at an affordable price but when it comes to medical care people rarely consider how much the technology costs the medical industry. They feel it's a right to have it cheap regardless of economic costs.
