Women in saudi arabia can not leave the house alone. They are literally forbidden to go anywhere. Women in india are killed over their dowries.
I don't see men being banned to sheds, getting forbidden to attend public places without their sisters/mothers /wives or men getting killed for not providing enough dowry. Women get raped and killed in india while going to the toilet because of lacking sanitation inside homes.

Surely they should be recognised everyday and not just once a year.
It's a bit like how Christmas has become a day to recognise family and good will rather than just being a religious holiday (though it being commercialised probably has something to do with it).
I'd say it's pointless to have any day dedicated to some thing because it kind of makes it become less significant really since it's only one day to acknowledge it rather than it always being acknowledged which to me makes the whole idea of making it become acknowledged on a specific day pointless if you want a voice or opinion to be heard.

I would love to see a national men's day get recognized- that's what real equality means. If we are going to have a women's day, we need a men's day too. Both genders are valuable and contribute greatly to society. Both deserve to be recognized and celebrated. I am 100% on board with that. However, I think it's important to keep in perspective that the current lack of recognition results from the fact that men were not traditionally discriminated against. There isn't the extensive history of oppression with men that there is with women.

If the UN is going to promote or plan world activities for days it recognizes I think it'd be important for them to *officially* recognize it but if they just put it on a list & leave it at that (since most people don't know what the UN does & doesn't do) it probably isn't that important.
BUT it *is* important for countries & communities to know & to do something about. Men's health education, Men's shed type initiatives & giving guys a platform to talk about things they've been through that can improve other guys lives & the community as a whole. It's when guys are built up by the women around them that they can encourage us to be all we can be.
Hey, the toilet was a great achievement. It was a great step forward and has greatly reduced the rate of death due to water-borne disease, among others. The sanitary sewer is humanity's crowning achievement, if you ask me. It was when we finally decided to lift ourselves up out of the gutters and into something clean.

You must take into account how people act. When we are born, we each live in our own specific world, the way we perceive reality, our "illusion". For girls they have, for a time always seen themselves as being locked into the notion they must act appropriately, be a brood mare and treat their husband like a king. That was their entire world. But by disrupting that girls are able to look outside of what they have known and become better more stronger versions of themselves.
For the 5 guy's who downvoted this, they have lived in a reality that makes them aware that women must act and be a certain way. It's just how they see the world, nothing wrong with it except that whether they have good intentions or not they see the need in this situation to counter this movement.
I return to the statement of what i said however, digressing back to the idea of how a majority of women still perceive reality of having to dress and act a certain way. Almost a sort of slave mentality. A study on happiness in slaves back in the early 19th century revealed that second and 3rd generation slaves felt far happier than 1st generation. The 1st generation felt the least happy because they understood what it meant to be truly happy. Women are no different in this regard, they now have access to an entire trove of knowledge, and are only just beginning to understand how fucked into a corner they were by society. This isn't to say that males don't have somewhat similar problems too, such as always having extreme societal standards, but there is far less expectations on them to remain composed, settling down, being married etc.. etc. It did not help either when a majority of males compounded the belief girls are supposed to act a certain way.
That is what i understand so far.

I've gone through looking at support groups and seeing "women only" on the signs (which I am fine with by the way. I understand that as a man my presence can be scary in those situations. There is a need for women only support groups). I know there is more support in place for women and people are more likely to believe them and take it seriously than me when reporting the same thing. I get that. But I've also seen that get better. I've seen a jump in how many people support male victims and are quick to correct others when they say rape only happens to women. I've found support groups and chat sites that are for men only. More and more books are being written for male victims, or at the least are written in a way men and women can both relate to. Is it equal? No, not yet. But there is a genuine effort going into fixing that problem. People see it and ->
recognize that it needs to change. That's more than can be said about several problems women face. So do I see the lack of equality in some situations? Yes. Do I feel because of those things I need an international men's day? No.

Men don't lack education? Take a look at the college gender gap and graduation differences between male and female students. Why do women need anymore encouragement for educating themselves when it's clearly men who are falling behind academically from a lack thereof?
There are more women with higher education degrees than there are men now, so I don't really think female education in western cultures needs to be promoted.

@LogicBomber I'm longing for the day we can move just responding with cold hard facts on GAG and the speak the truth out loud in public. Some guys have tried to do it, but they usually get instantly ostracized or muzzled. Former Google engineer James Damore is perfect example. The guy fought with well thought out, hard facts (and some educated opinions) about the counterproductiveness of "diversity" programs and subsequently got fired from Google. However his stance is not in vain, his termination lead to viral attention. However not too many guys are willing to be martys (including me) or we are worried that it will hurt our chances of getting laid.

Gregory Alan Elliott told feminist on twitter that they were wrong. He was met with death threats, beratement, and endless attacks. Non-of-which were considered hate speak by twitter. While his account was shut down because disagreeing with feminist is considered hate.
He then got dragged through court for 4 years on "harassment" charges and they almost destroyed his life.
Bullies never want the truth pointed out and they will usually do anything to silence it. But it's becoming harder for them to do so.
