in a Latin American country, especially since there's no such thing as a "One-Drop" Rule in the vast majority of Latin America?
If you think about it, the majority of Native Americans/American Indians in the US aren't even fully Native American and have a significant White European ancestry yet still identify as "Native American"(Not that there's anything wrong with it or anything). In Latin America, people with only around 30-60ish percent American Indian or 30-60 percent are considered "Mestizos".
Just look at the two pictures of these young women (below). You man think they're from Mexico or from a Latin American country but they're actually US Americans of Half Native American, Half White ancestry.

I tried explaining this to my American friend and she got annoyed. Said I was saying that she isn't American. If she lives in America she's American
