youre joking right? I think you need to go back to school. your education has failed you. maybe this is your problem? also its not that hard to get a job as a waitress at some low end restaurant. I mean seriously? if I tried to work at dennys or ihop (which I wouldnt) I would be offended if I didn't get hired. then again, there is such a thing as being over-qualified. working at hooters doesn't take much. I have a friend who works there. she just does her job and walks around talking to guys.
if you're 22 and you have only had one job, I think you need to stop looking for a scapegoat in society or trying to reason through it. most people in this country have had more than one job by the age of 22. you were fired from your job, this is something you need to focus on. why were you fired? what can you do to improve your work ethic and performance? also if you have that on your job application, they contact your previous employer, and your previous employer doesn't speak well of you...then you are probably not going to get the job. Who wants to hire someone who doesn't do sh*t, has stolen something, lacks respect, etc.? (whatever the case of your dismissal may have been.) I have never been fired in my entire life from any job and I just turned 20 this year. I can say the same for like 98% of my friends both male and female.

It depends on the job & the what people hiring want. There are some jobs men would be more likely to get, like something that involves mechanics, heavy lifting, & so on. While there is other jobs women might get hired for, like a nanny, secretary, & so on. Different managers have their ideas on what sex works better. When I worked at a fastfood restaurant years ago, my boss preferred to hire women (she was a woman) because she thought women worked harder & she also felt more comfortable w/women. I on the other hand (because I was a manager for a while) would have rather worked with a man because I think males have great work ethics. Both men & women have pluses & negatves about their work styles. Of course, gender is not supposed to matter when hiring, & if someone gave a great interview, it wouldn't matter what gender the manager thought was better. Like my boss, she hired many men, & I hired women also. So, I wouldn't be too concerned about it if I were you, it might just be the economy that is getting in your way & not your gender. Good Luck.
I would say it depends on the job you are applying for and how ambitious these girls are. I applied to over 100 jobs before I found the job I have now and I am pretty sure my last job hated me. A lot of guys I know have only applied to like 3 jobs in there hunt and are complaining that I got a job. I have made a lot of mistakes in all the jobs I have throughout my life but I keep trying to make up for them and learn from them, that is why I keep getting better at interviewing, getting hired, and keeping jobs. I also worked at a very crappy fast food job for a year before I got a decent job. it all depends.
I don't think that's true - I think it has to do with the industry fields than anything else. Yeah, a pretty girl will get hired by a male boss for ____ entry level job a lot faster than a guy, and then when you get into the IT fields you have to worry about having your job sent overseas to Bongo-Bongo, but when you get down to the nitty-gritty it's all about you, the person. Yeah, a lot of the good-looking bimbos I know are never out of work, but then they aren't engineers, technicians, doctors, lawyers etc either. So if you can't find a job as a waiter but Ms. Blondie Bigt*ts did don't take it personal - keep looking or get a better skillset.
As an aside, I know a lot of women who are employed in the construction or IT fields and they are having just as hard a time finding work as anyone else. Like I said, it's the industry field, not gender.
Go back to school while you're still young and study something in the health care field - become an RN, surgical assistant, something like that. Or, get a gov't job - firemen, cop, they all make great money and have retirements that are above and beyond anything in the private sector.
you pretty much nailed it!

Unfortunately (or fortunately for marketers) sexuality sells in modern society these days. As much as some employers do not want to admit it, I always have the feeling in the back of my mind that recruitment could slightly be biased by physical attractiveness like you are wondering about.
Don't wallow too much because it might be true, just get out there and persist bro. Look closely at the skills that are desired in the positions you are going for and if you don't have them, find ways to obtain them.I think it can go both ways. For example if a girl were to walk into a construction business and try to get a job she could easily be over looked. Now on the other hand she could go apply to be a bank teller and could very easily get the job over a man with experience while she has none. I think the jobs you have mentioned is a perfect place where management might favor good looking girls over guys.
Sexism in the workplace is rampant. Yes, it is easier for girls to get jobs.
Women are usually very social, bubbly, extroverted. They are pleasing to the eye. Guys just aren't like that unless they are gay
I just got a job at a cafe and I had to fight tooth and nail for it. All my coworkers are females, along with two gay men. This is the way the world is heading: straight males need not applyDespite popular view, there is no actual quota for hiring gender, ethnicity or culture.
However there is a points system.
Women do not always have an easier time getting a job depending on the job.
In our time equality goes both ways. If a guy applies for jewelry salesman he is more likely to get an interview. However the ultimate decision of hiring an individual lies with the employer and frankly if the department heads are largely one gender, that may go against the applicant.
Overall I would say yes by a very slight margin, but this is because there's more single moms out there, not because women are being given preferential treatment.Definately do. If your black, asian etc it's easier to. Being a white, english, male, getting a job is a difficult experience.
It depends on whose doing the hiring. Different people think men or women are better workers. I've met men who think males are better workers & women who think females are better workers. I personally think it's not a gender thing, but a people thing. Some people are good workers, some aren't. Overall, I think both genders stand the same chance of finding a job, there is gender discrimination on both ends...
Possibly because they are attractive, they may find a job easier. But I think you might be trying to find a scapegoat for you lack of success with finding a job. It's going to be hard for you no matter what if you've only ever had 1 job in your life. You just need to keep looking around. Everyone is looking for a job right now, so that means that not everyone is going to find one.
If the person doing the hiring is a man and she is "hot", odds are she will likely get a better chance. If she is ugly no she will be as normal as everybody else. But if the person doing the hiring is a woman then no she is just as normal as everybody else.
Actully we get job the easier because of respect. When you at job interview, show them you are for real, not some crappy guy. A hand shake and what you speak about mean you know what doing compare to women, no where they don't get respected
not really - but attractive people period get MORE jobs than not - not nice but that is how society is tall men, good looking men get noticed more and hired more.. not fair but true.
Considering as recently as 50 years ago we were expected to be housewives, I think the fact that businesses have equality laws is a brilliant thing.
It's been proven that hotter people get promoted more, males and females.Whoa!
i don't know about your state but in new york its illegal for an employer to comment negatively in such stating you were fired or stating otherwise why you left. likewise, you have to take a leap of faith that when you provide such a reference that they are abiding by such law. Have you considering tryting to take an administrative position instead of waiting tables?oh my gosh not at all...I have been looking for a job for a while now..still no interview..I guess I am somewhat attractive but obviously not enough to get me an interview ._.
I think you have a point there. Life can be easier sometimes for the girls but can be opposite most of the times. It is not right to generalize! It depends on the job, the interviewer and the girl :)))
my mom always said this line, that "if the boss is a man, he will be nice to the ladies, if the boss is a woman, she will be nice to the gentlemen"
Well its probably the type of job you are applying for.
Women-type jobs are what this economy is going for.
You might try constructionThe Glass ceiling! AHHHHHHHH
Depends on what the job is. But in general no.
Nope.
