I've made up my mind that in cases involving rape or an increased threat to the mother's life during pregnancy or child birth, the freedom to have an abortion should certainly be protected under the law.
However, I am undecided on how I feel legislation regarding abortion should be handled in cases in which the pregnancy is a result of sheer irresponsibility.
On one hand, I believe all life should be protected by the government--in fact, I think that should be just about the government's only role in society. Plus, I believe that having sex (even with adequate protection, especially without) equates to accepting responsibility for the consequences, especially when the consequences are as sufferable as a mere 9 months of discomfort and a few hours of pain.
On the other hand, I am hesitant to grant more authority to the state than it already has, especially when the powers given to it could quite possibly lead to the routine infringement on bodily autonomy in other instances. Plus, outlawing what one might consider unjust abortion doesn't guarantee the end of its practice. People would simply seek abortion services from illegal (and likely less safe) sources, which would just result in even more casualties.

Yes to legal and regulated abortion. Yes also to universal single payer health care that makes abortion available for everyone, not just the wealthy and upper-middle class.
Pro-life
It's not just the woman's body once she's pregnant. The baby has different DNA. there's a life in there that needs fighting for. I don't think the woman's wants are more important than the baby's life. She's the one who messed up. The baby is an innocent. I'm pro choice if you look at it as Im pro- contraceptive, pro- adoption, and pro- abstinence. Please, don't bring up abortion in the case of rape and incest. It's only 1% of all abortions. there's a bigger issue here and it's the selfishness of women.
If you get an abortion you don't EVER deserve to have a child. Just get your tubes tied if you don't want kids and aren't willing to make better decisions to prevent or give to a another family. It's the most selfish heartless thing these women can do. I'll never support them in this.
I think abortion should be acceptable up to a certain number of months. It should not surpass 3 months, and honestly mother's, that tons of time to prepare yourself, no excuses. Otherwise, just don't get pregnant in the first place. If I absolutely had to I would abort, but the guilt would still be there no matter how early in pregnancy, so I am just sort of avoiding pregnancy to begin with. People who are religious are against birth control and condoms because it is not natural intercourse. So in the case of a religious person literally just don't have sex. Do oral or something. I don't know how many times I have heard of teens get pregnant and I don't think it was just a coincidence that they were also all christian
Definitely yes. If you have medical problems, if the baby isn't healthy, if you have financial problems, if you're too young or if you just don't want it, you have every right to abort it.
It's better if a child is never born rather than it's doomed to live a miserable life.

I'm pro-abortion. People make a political issue/philosophical-religious argument about something very complex that is centered around women's health and well-being. If a woman wants to have an abortion it is her decision, her right, her autonomy. Women already have abortions today in some cases. People think that the decriminalization/legalization will cause women to abort babies everywhere all the time, we know that's not what's going to happen. It will not increase abortions like crazy, it will decrease women, mostly poor women, who unfortunately die trying to have an abortion right now. No woman should be prosecuted, humiliated or put in prison because of an abortion. So yeah, pro-abortion all the way!
Absolutely yes. Its up to the woman to decide what she does with her body. How dare a state tell a woman she can't do what she wants. My thoughts on it is... if u want an abortion then have one (id allow up to 12wks) if u dont agree with abortion then... DONT HAVE ONE. And stop dictating to those who want control over her own body
Heart beat at around 6 weeks. Abortion after that is manslaughter at best. I can't believe states allow abortion up to viability at 22 weeks or even up to delivery in the eight or so fucked up states.
We're obliterating someone's liberty for the sake of not inconveniencing someone else's.
Government subsidized abortion, no. Contraceptives are cheaper. Abstinence is free. Sex education more effective.
Bilateral consent should be required without proof of rape for medically assisted abortion.Anyone that believes in abortion due to sport sex should get their tubes tied and/or vasectomy right now. Because, even if they do have a kid someday; they are too narcissistic and selfish to raise it anyways. So just get fixed and just STFU already about it.
Personally no as if u didn't want a child you should've been more careful and i dont reckon a potential new life should suffer because of that, at least put it up for adoption as many people can't have that chance BUT I do reckon their are times where I would believe to be accepted such as if you were raped because you couldnt live with that reminder and it would mess you up for years if you really didn't want to go through with it.
It is not for me to decide what women should do with their bodies.
I'm not against it however I don't support it... I'm pro choice however I feel that when there's an opportunity for life it shouldn't be taken away but the bottom line is that it's a personal choice therefore who am I to tell someone what they can or can't do.
Geez, chica. You are very opionated and sounds like you want to pick fights with people who disagree with you on such a hot button issue. Anyway, I don’t agree with it, but I’m not gonna get all self righteous and try to tell other people what they can and can’t do. it’s legal, so it’s up to each woman/couple what they want to do. In a couple, the man should have a vote, but she gets the final say in the matter.
No. Because ending a life is still murder.
And all you "my body my choice" idiots are the biggest, dumbest hypocrites on earth for taking control amd making decisions on another persons LIFE let alone their body, while claiming you can do whatever you want with your body.
Whatever happened to do what you want WITHOUT hurting others?I personally don't care, like I didn't even know I existed until I was around 2 years of age anyways.
This debate has been done to death. The end result, some are for, some are against. Nothing changes.
yes, in case of medical emergencies or if mother doesn't want it can be done.
I love how there are more guys than girls answering, personally I'm pro choice
Im pro to many-fucking-people-in-the-world-already.
If die to Financial Problems, rape or a Busted relationship or children it's a yes, but if adults are too lazy to use protection nope they should know the consequences
they trashed institutions? some enforced the idea thay you are not sane when you dont work so you should not have children. propaganda and capital. still always a sick deed. when even the church says you're memtally ill considering the great life goals on television which is the main source for all disturbances, how confused it can get? a normal life variety range, and horror depictions and lies for debate?
I am, always have been and always will be pro choice. Nobody should be forced to have a child they don’t want or can’t support.
I'm not sure how you can fact and logic something that has a moral basis.
Depends on the reason for the abortion but most of the time yes
