Are there more than two genders?

There is two and the rest are mental illnesses. With that said It should be respected as anxiety or depression would, as well as helped. You wouldn't encourage a person with schizophrenia to embrace who they are or not get help. Why do. that to this. It's awful really. There are two genders male and female. You have a dick you are a boy if you have a vagina you are a girl period. Dont come with well there is unisex yeah they have a penis and they have a vagina which can possibly be removed at birth. And they dont 'feel' like the opposite gender so they try to pass as it. They actually have a physical condition which gives them both parts. It is not a soild foundation to base why there are more than two genders.
Transgenders and people with no sex are not considered in this argument. I believe this is transphobic.
By saying that it is a mental disorder and they need to get help I am transphobic ha. No. If that were the case then you might as well consider me u depresphoic, anxietyphobic, etc. Its not phobic for not agreeing with something. Now if I hated or was rude and treated them not as a person then yes you could call me transphoic but I dont do that. So you can believe what you like as you do now. Giving my opinion and telling you that this is a mental disorder and they need to get help if they think they are a gender that they aren't isn't rude, isn't 'transphoic' (which is a made up word btw), it is stating facts and really dont care if you get offended by it.
SEX IS NOT THE SAME AS GENDER.
Gender is your identity related to your sex - how masculine or feminine you feel. Sex is chromosomes/hormones/whatever you have between your legs. Gender is fluid. Sex kinda isn't because it's determined by biology, but there are also those who are intersex.
There are many ways you could identify in terms of gender. You can have a vagina but identify as more masculine, and you can have a penis but identify as more feminine. Then there are those who don't really fit any of the stereotypical masculine/feminine traits and prefer to identify as agender or gender neutral.
Thank you!

Saying that there are more than two genders is incorrect. However, claiming that there are only two genders is also incorrect.
Gender is a spectrum, like sexual orientation.
So, if you consider being 73.5379% straight and 26.4621% gay a "unique sexual orientation" that is inherently different from being 73.5378% straight and 26.4622% gay, I guess you could say the same for gender. In that case, there is an indefinite number of sexual orientations and genders.
Personally, I believe it makes more sense to simply think of it as a rainbow-like spectrum, where the different colors blur into each other.
You seem to be conflating "gender" and "sexual orientation." The former - in terms of human beings - is a biological fact. Penis or vagina, either or. Those instances where both are present are mutations and abnormalities in evolutionary terms.
Sexual orientation, on the other hand, does appear to range across a spectrum, though the science is somewhat hard to asses and cultural factors certainly play a part.
However, at least in terms of ordinary scientific usage, in terms of human beings, the former is not a spectrum.
@nightdrot
You don't seem to understand the difference between gender and sex, both of which originates in scientific language. Sex is a term from the field of biology, gender is a term from the field of sociology.
I am pretty sure the asker of this question was referring to gender in a sociological sense, meaning the way we behave, what kind of roles we take and how society evaluates our actions. Blue is for baby boys and pink for baby girls, girls are not supposed to wear pants, boys are not supposed to have long hair, that kind of thing.
Estrogen and testosterone are found in both of the sexes. Males have more testosterone than estrogen and the opposite is true for females. Each individual has a different ratio of estrogen to testosterone. With this one could say that genders are on a spectrum, and masculine and feminine are polar opposites.
"Yeah. Everyone is at a different point in the spectrum "
That is very misleading. Each individual doesn't just have different ratios of sex hormones, but they also have different proportions. By that I mean men mainly have testosterone and some estrogen, and women ahve mainly estrogen and some testosterone. Of those proportions these ratios vary.
If testosterone is increased above certain threshold in women, they develop male characteristics like deep voice, and facial hair. If estrogen is increased in men they develop enlarged breasts.
There are also consequences if estrogen drops below certain level in women, thinning of hair for example, problems with menstruation. In contrast if testosterone drops in men they lose their libido, feel fatigued.
No matter how much estrogen is given to men they wouln't have menstrual cycle. No matter how much testosterone you give women they wouln't become physically strong as men.
So thise imaginary spectrum has no scientific basis nd misleadin
Sure there maybe a spectrum but we should only see it as no more than 3, female male and neither. Because giving a name to all of the spectrum is impossible as numbers have infinite numbers in-between them.
You can't be female if you have male genitalia and vice visa unless you get a change. You can be a feminine make but you are still male.
@Sarcastro Its not a Liberal definition but far left one. As you can see from the poll Liberals aren't buying this crap either. Its just far left Sociologists in Universities started perpetuating this theory, which has absolutely no scientific basis. Hypothesis needs to be confirmed that's how science works. Majority of their colleagues don't agree either. Just because you come up with a theory doesn't mean others should automatically accept it.
Provide us with scientific evidence and everyone would have no problem with it.
I agree with oram. Sociologists can't make up new things without passing it through scientific tests. Also the poll is very clear on the result.
Any way what difference does it make, what gender you are doesn't affect how you should be treated anyway. So keeping the system as simple to understand as possible is beneficial to everyone as it doesn't matter if you say you are pancakesexual or an Apache helicopter people shouldn't treat you differently.

I'm not about to start memorizing all of these definitions with genders, sexes, sexualities, gender identities and what not. All I know is that there are men and women and that's all there has to be.
No. The idea that gender is separate from biological sex is a cop-out. It's a way to avoid the argument that biology determines what you are, and it isn't based on fact, only feelings. If a biological male feels like he has no gender, then by saying that gender is separate from his biology he avoids that argument. That's all there is to it.
Some people mentioned hormones and a "spectrum". There's no spectrum. We're a sexually dimorphic species. That's how we reproduce (no shit). Only a very tiny percentage of people are born with both male and female genitalia, and usually one part is functional while the other is not, and usually they're unable to reproduce - that's a developmental defect. Most of us are either male or female, feelings don't change this fact.
As for hormones, yeah, some people have different levels. But even a male with low testosterone for example will have a lot more testosterone than a high testosterone female. Such a low level of testosterone is also a sign that there's something wrong, for example a disorder hypogonadism. Or it could be simply down to diet, lifestyle, other illnesses that effect hormonal balance e. g. diabetes, depression etc.
What many people don't seem to talk about a lot is the very high suicide rate amongst post-op transsexuals. One of the biggest side effects of low testosterone in a man is depression. If the man has low test and as a result believes he's a woman, and then takes hormones to further lower his natural testosterone levels, it's no wonder that he's more likely to commit suicide.
The main point I'm making is that this balance of hormones - some men having low-t and some women having high-t - isn't evidence that we're on a spectrum - if your hormones are out of balance it's a health hazard or is the result of an illness/disorder, of which one causes the other. It's not natural and it's not the way we're meant to be. Men are meant to be men, women are meant to be women. This should be common sense.
Couldn't agree more.
Your position that nature determines everything is incorrect and laughable. It is just as laughable as the other extreme, people who claim that everything is determined by nurture. The truth is that it is a healthy mix of both. And there are things that have absolutely nothing to do with biology, for example the idea that blue is for boys and pink is for girls.
He is going by facts, not feelings. He is right in every sense. You have the freedom to believe whatever, but that doesn't make you something different. As he stated, a hormonal imbalance is not healthy and a man having to much estrogen can in fact, be damaging. It's not a healthy balance.
@BlueCoyote
I'm not talking about colours though, I'm talking about our biology. What we are. Your argument (or lack of) is another cop-out.
It's not a cop-out. I'm talking about colors because this is what the sociological notion of gender is about. You are completely obsessed with biology.
@BlueCoyote
Your argument is that nature doesn't determine the truth. My argument is that people don't understand biology. The idea that you can decide what gender you are based on feelings is ridiculous, and the idea that nature doesn't determine these things is a common argument against the things I'm saying - it's a cop-out because you can't argue against it. Can you argue against the things I mentioned about hormones for example? No because these are provable facts, so you're talking about colours instead. The idea that gender is separate from biology is also un-provable because it isn't based on fact, only feelings. Facts > feelings. Some people believe that they were born the wrong species - that doesn't make it true, that doesn't mean that they aren't human, and is obviously ridiculous. Yet somehow if someone feels like they don't have a gender, even if they have all of the male/female parts, that's true because "nature doesn't determine everything". Yeah right.
Clearly, you don't understand what homonyms are.
I'm going to assume you meant hormones. Hormones are not a factor in sex, you either are, or aren't, male/female. No amount of estrogen will make a male into a female and likewise. When he's talking about hormones he's saying it as it is.
@JustALonelySoul
No, I didn't mean hormones. I meant homonyms. I'm not talking about hormones. A lot of guys on this website are incapable of understanding that two words that are spelled the same and pronounced the same can have two entirely different meanings. For example in the field of linguistics, there is a theory called "Politeness-Theory". However, this theory has absolutely nothing to do with the word politeness as it is used in everyday speech ("Joe is very polite"). It has been rebranded specifically for the field of linguistics to mean something new/different. The same is true for the term gender. In the 1990s, sociologists took the "street term" gender and rebranded it to mean something new and different. This sociological term has absolutely nothing to do with biology, just like Politeness Theory has nothing to do with politeness. Gender theory in sociology says that to a degree, we treat other humans in a certain way simply because we know their biological sex.
Gender is the same as sex, whether people want to label it as a street term so to speak for identity is another issue. Ones gender will always be ones sex. I don't acknowledge the new altered interpretation created from feminists from 1963 because it's false. They were trying to separate gender from sex all together, apart from it's original and true meaning.
Either way, it shouldn't be called identity or gender, simply gender dysphoria or Gender Identity Disorder.
Don't get me wrong though, I can get along with people that have this condition so long as they're nice respectable people.
@BlueCoyote
I know that gender is according to that theory separate from sex, I disagree - just as I mentioned in my answer. I think we're just gonna go in circles here.
@JustALonelySoul
It's not "feminists from 1963". This is a sociological term that was coined by academics in the 1990s. And whether you acknowledge it or not doesn't matter because it still exists BECAUSE people came up with the term. It's like you don't need to "believe" that linguistic politeness exists but it still does because it is an observation that linguists have made and have termed this way. But I guess you too don't understand what homonyms are. You guys keep going back to biology, which makes absolutely no sense because the sociologic notion of gender has simply nothing to do with biology. This whole thing feels a bit like doing a literary analysis of Shakespeare's dramas and you guys keep saying "that doesn't work, those dramas aren't real". Yes, in history they are not but in LITERATURE, they ARE.
Also, gender and gender dysphoria are two entirely different things. From how you talk, I doubt you've ever cared to even do a quick google search about this issue.
@englisc:
So you disagree that men and women dress differently based on how they are raised in society to view their sex? Because that's gender for you.
I guess you think women are born with skirts and that there is a high-heel gene and a lipstick gene somewhere in the female DNA.
https://www.dailywire.com/tags/gender
www.dailywire.com/.../dangers-treating-transgenderism-differently-other-frank-camp%3famp
They are NOT two different things, a person who "identifies" as being the opposite gender or in the wrong body is, by definition, someone who suffers from gender dysphoria.
There is no problems with understanding homonyms, the problem is that people are saying gender doesn't mean sex, when in fact, it does. They think the literal meaning of gender fits in the category of identity and not what appendage you have. The very definition of Gender is being changed from sex to your societal sense. In short, people deny the true definition of Gender in lieu of identity. I'd say it's a stretch to call the two homonyms to begin with. One is, as you say slang and the other is the actual definition.
@JustALonelySoul
Do you understand the idea of rebranding words? It seems like you don't. Or maybe you're just playing stupid.
The word was never "rebranded". People are just butchering the word, probably because they don't think gender identity disorder sounds very nice! To the point where dictionaries are changing the definition to match the left narrative.
Joking aside, the point is, it's facts over feelings. No amount of denying ones gender is going to change you. There is nothing to argue over here.
@BlueCoyote
Of course men and women dress based on what's "normal" for their gender. What we're talking about here though is the idea of gender identity - the idea that someone is a man or a woman or neither based on what they feel like they are, not what they actually are.
We have an X chromosome in our gene pool as well as a Y. They can pair up as XX and XY while rarely occurring as a number of Chromosomal abnormalities such as XXY and XYY. These pairs have marked effects on a child’s development many of which have been heavily studied and are seen as fairly trustworthy predictive patterns. Sometimes these process can be effected during development by a number of internal and external factors resulting in even more phenotypic variation. You can call it sex you can call it gender but some people are just going to be out of the norm. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, ones existence of being outside the norm does not entitle them to literally anything. A government is a tool used by humans to advance collectively. Some of these governments believe allowing people to decide for themselves how they wish to construct their government is best. Some like ours in the US use the public to select representatives to speak for them. This system can and occasionally is corrupted but the alternative creates a situation of stagnation due to the vast number of votes that would need to be tally per each decision. So we’re left with this corruption. However it is not a bad system. One positive outcome for this system is that we are free from being persecuted for what we say and or think. Even if it is offensive. In fact our ability to offend is often the starting point for very productive discussions. However passing a law to force people to speak a certain way about anything is fundamentally dangerous especially when the words are not spreading discourse with intent to harm. This unfortunately means that no matter how much it may hurt me I should not force others to refrain from calling me the n word by using the government as a threat nor should someone be punished for calling me ma’am instead of sir. You can call yourself shen the wonder dog all day but the second you begin to force others into your box of correct speech is the second my country becomes a dangerous place for free thought. Now that I’ve expressed my opinion I’d like to add I believe in more than two genders and have zero problem calling them what they prefer but don’t ever think I’ll feel comfortable punishing people for not choosing to do this. Instead support those who choose to be supportive and let the others dwindle from their ignorance.
No. Only two genders.
Two different sets of chromosomes
Two different types of genitalia
Two types of being (Masculine/feminine)
Two body types (Google difference in a man and woman's bone structure and muscle difference)
Two different types of hormones and each has a higher set of receptors in their body for said gender
Two different brain Anatomy. Women have larger brains and also the hippocampus where emotions are processed is more developed and larger than a mans
Any gender identity is just a mood. Remember those mood rings? Imagine combining a mood ring (changes color as you where it to match your mood) with something like Marvel for example. Like oh my mood ri g turned red, I am angry, so I am now the Hulk. Everyone must call me Hulk or I smash.
Apply back to genders. Let's say someone wakes up, "boy, I sure am horny today, I guess that makes me pansexual today because I could just about screw the first person I see"
Next day, "Agh, not really feeling it today, maybe I am asexual"
All these other genders are just identity terms to associate with a feeling (which come and go). So they say it it is gender fluidity, because since your mood and feelings change, then therfore, so does the gender you now attached to it
This right here. 👆👆
My god.. I can only address the assumptions with "pansexual" and " asexual". Neither of those describes a gender. They are sexual orientations- as stated in their name- that describe who you're SEXUALLY attracted to. Someone identifying as pansexual can be attracted or fall in love with them despite their gender (however many are present.) Asexual persons simply don't have a want, desire or more simply an interest in sex with other people. Not always by choice.
@Genral_Switch
Sexual orientation is still just two options. Either you are straight. Or you are not. Picture a piece of paper on a questionnaire "Male/Female" and "Straight/Other". Keep it simple.
There are only two genders. But what sex you are attracted to is still just a feeling. And is simply two categories. Whether one feels an attraction to a trans man or woman, or a gay man, or a man dressed as an animal, or in anime clothes. Or a dragon costume. It doesn't matter, it is all just classified under category "Other"
(1/4)
@Genral_Switch
Some people use sports as an identity. They wear the teams jersey, call themselves fans, get upset, and obsessed over what happens to their team, and consider themselves not just a fan, but part of the team in a way. Their are hockey fans, and Baseball fans. Those are the subcategories. Then it breaks down further into "which team is you favorite, Tigers, Red Sox, etc" someone may be a fan of one team, and another person a fan of the other, but them being a fan of a sport, does not define them. It is not their identity. Just as having a Sexual attraction to someone or something is not what defines you, or your gender.
(2/4)
@Genral_Switch
You are either a man or a woman, or you are not. You are either attracted to the opposite sex, or you are not. The details don't matter.
The question was (Are there more than two genders?) The answer is, no. If a stray dog walked up to you, how would you find out what gender the dog was? You loft up its leg and look if it has a penis. If it does you call it "Good boy" if it doesn't have a penis, you say "good girl".
If you are a man but you feel like a woman, then I am sorry but, feeling like a woman or believing you are a woman is still completely different than actually being a woman
(3/4)
A man that becomes a women, and transitions, is still not a woman. They still don't have the right chromosomes. And "she" can never get pregnant. Biological pregnancy with "her" own genes. It would have to be done through outside means
Right let's sort all this shit out now. There are two genders, defined by science as male or female. Males having a penis and females having a vagina.
This is the denfition of gender... you can call yourself what ever you want but at the end of the day your fit into the class of male or female ( You either have XX chromosomes or XY chromosomes, there is no changing that) No matter what you do to your body your are still scientifically the gender you were born as, and science is fact and as a result the truth.
If you don't agree with this then create your own term, don't try changing the definition of gender when it already has a proven scientifically accurate definition.
Some people are just brain dead... Oh and don't expect me to call a man she. You can believe you are whoever you want to be, but I don't need to join in with your delusion.
Actually, no. That's the definition of a sex, not a gender. Sex is physiological, gender is psychological. If a man chooses to become a woman, they are still physiologically male (sex), but they have become female (gender).
To say sex and gender aren't linked and the same is delusional. There's a reason the terms are used interchangeable, for example when filling out forms.
They're linked, and they are almost always the same, but they're not always the same.
Also, your definition with chromosomes doesn't account for people with Kleinfelter Syndrome or Turner Syndromes. There are people who have neither XX nor XY.
Also, look up Geena Rocero. Would you call her a dude?
And the name for those type of people in intersex. There's already a name for people affected by that.
Fungi have 10s of thousands of genders. Genders are social constructs. Sex is a biological one. The reason we have 2 genders are because we specifically evolved to mate in that way and so did many other animals. However just because as humans there's only one way to reproduce (male impregnates female) that doesn't mean that it's the ONLY way to reproduce. Which is obvious in single celled bacteria and like I said, fungi.
And yeah we aren't fungi or single celled bacteria but to think that there are only 2 genders is not only stupid, it's also dumb
"There's only one way to reproduce... that doesn't mean that it's the only way to reproduce."
Ok mate what ever you say, I'd rather be more like the animal kingdom than some bacteria on a petri dish that has no circulatory system or central nervous system. There's 2 genders simple as that. If you aren't happy with that make up a new term and call yourself what ever you want, just done expect other people who are sane to go along with it.
Ok fine, let me clarify since you obviously dont understand context. there's only one way for humans to reproduce, however that doesn't mean that it's the only way to reproduce for other species.
gender is a biological construct that exists for the sole purpose of breeding. An asexual creature that reproduces is just copying its own genes. By making two genders, breeding becomes a game of swapping genes, which allows for more mutations, which creates better and worse offspring.
The worse die, the better move on and advance. Pure evolution.
The fact that we are not some primitive life form living in a Darwinian hell of adapt or die, and are instead sapient beings, does not change biology. We have two genders. Male and female. Their existence is for us the same as it is for every other gendered species: to allow two individuals to mix their genes to make offspring.
There is no biological basis for additional genders, which means that anyone who thinks they are a different gender is merely living out a fantastic delusion in their own mind, fueled by the belief that if they are not unique, if they do not stand out as different, then their existence is meaningless.
I’m not as educated on gender as I’d like to be but I know that based on the picture used for this poll “they and their” are not gender specific words and used as belonging or groups but I guess nowadays more than one gender in one person... I have a transgender client I don’t say “they got this done” I say “she or he got this done” other wise it’s like I’m talking about more than one person in conversation. I believe there are two genders, male and female with 50 shades in between. It’s all in preference of the person, how they feel or would liked to be addressed as in respect.
I guess there are cases where people are born with both male and female reproductive organs. So if there is a third it would be that... but wait that's sex. Sex and gender are too confusing. I could get all technical and say that gender is a social construct and really anything can be considered a gender if society deems it so but I haven't seen any new gender constructs that aren't anything but a mix of masculine and feminine norms all meshed into one. As most people understand gender, we relate it to sex and assign characteristics to a person based on their sex. When someone choses characteristics from both categories they are gender fluid but they aren't exactly a third gender. Even the people who are neither feminine or masculine can really shake these roles and standards and still become a conglomerate of both genders.
I'd be open to debate if anyone wants to.
For me there are two genders. I know and understand the nb argument about gender and sex not being the same thing. Nevertheless for me that is implicitly stating (and defending) gender roles. I don't like gender roles and I think that they are the true reason for this whole debate (e. g. "I don't fit in the male role nor in the female role, therefore I must be something different).
For me gender and sex are the same thing and they are solely related to the sexual organs each person has. They don't define your tastes nor hos you should behave.
That's an interesting take on this debate. I don't completely agree with you though. I think gender is a spectrum and that gender roles aren't the true reason for this debate, although I do think these debates are closely related. A girl could for example take up the traditional role of a man, but still identify as female because she feels feminine enough.
I also don't think gender and sex are the same since transgenders exist.
But that's exactly my point tho: taking the traditional role of a man (which by the way is hot af), is nothing more than a set of attitudes and ways of thinking, AND feeling feminine, is another set of attitudes and ways of thinking. Both things are not mutually exclusive, they're simply personality traits. That's why I don't believe gender to be a "spectrum", because what you call gender, as I see it, is simply their personalities.
For me "femininity" and "masculinity" are nothing but gender roles and stereotypes that try to tell how and who you should be. That's why I argue that sex and gender are the same (:
Regarding transgender people, my model is consistent with gender=sex. For me transgender people are people that aren't comfortable with their bodies (genitals more specifically) and want (have the real desire or hope - pay attention here that I'm not talking about the fear of doing it or social repercusions. I'm only talking about the desire) to transcision to the other sex
Gender can only be biologically male or female, 'Gender' and ' Gender Identity' as well as 'Sexuality' are what people think of when they say there are more than 2 gender options, all 3 are considered different things with their own categorization methods.
Maybe someone will mutate or genetically alter themselves a new reproduction method, changing their 'Gender' someday to something seen in the animal or unseen I'm history, but as of now we only have male and female, though people can be born with both male and female parts which I suppose can be argued for as a different gender.
There are two genders. Intersex people are not only rare, but their condition depends on being some form of the two genders, not a separate gender. Genderfluid people identify with both of the two genders. Agender people identify with neither. None of these are separate genders, just your mental relationship WITH the two existing genders.
I think there coming a separations between sex and gender. you have the biological part with your genes. But even then there people with more genes so they wouldn't be man or woman.
But you also have identification what is expected from society from a gender (guys are though and strong women are loving and caring for example). And what do you want the world to see you as to fill those expectations. (it can be exhausting for someone have to break from those expectations every time) But in my eyes creating more genders isn't the solution. but breaking the system and except there is no such thing as black and white in those expectations. Stop talking what do boys want and what do girls want. but ask what do people want.
"Gender" is cultural. What defines one gender or the other varies from place to place. There are plenty of examples of cultures that have had three or more genders, both hypothetical/mythical and real: Ancient Greece, Indonesia, Zuni Native Americans and even the Ancient Hebrews to name a few.
There are only 2 genders: male and female. You could be whatever you want, and if you’re the opposite of what you’ve been assigned since birth, you’re transgender. Transgender is an adjective. You could be a feminine male or masculine woman, but you cannot be neither
You could make the argument that intersex can be acknowledged as its own gender, as they can be born with both or the wrong reproductive organs. There's people that have seemingly perfectly normal female bodies, but where ovaries should be they have testicles. Unfortunate, but it's close to 1% of the entire population.
But in short you either have one set of reproductive organs or another. There is no "non-binary genderqueer" organ.
You're confusing gender and sex
There are only 3 genders thise with XX chromosomes known as females and those with XY chromosomes known as males. Any other combinations such as XXY or XYY etc. Are genetic aberrations and are usualy accosiated with a whole slew of mental and physical health problems. Anyone who disagrees with this is either A retarded or B psychotic
2 genders *
Personally, I believe this question is somewhat flawed.
In a way, I believe in more than to and in another way, I believe in only two.
To elaborate, I believe that you can be is male, female, neither or both. (And can change in between the these)
I believe that transgendered people are whatever gender they want to express themselves as.
Personally I don't think so. Although I see how it can be possible to feel like both male&female or feel like neither.
But I won't ever be the one to bash people who think there is. Open to the idea, very doubtful.
Either way I don't mind as long as you don't expect me to call you odd pronouns
Is there any third genital part given by God? I can say penis and vegina are given by God. Do you think you can challange God's decision?
There are only two genders and those are male and female.
Whatever others you see are can be called male behaving as Female or Female behaving as male or someone trying to play God by changing his/her Genital parts. Whatever you do people. I believe God will forgive you for going against his decision.
There are two sexes (XX and XY chromosones) and many gender identities
I disagree. There are still two genders. If you research the word gender, it defines it as being MALE or FEMALE socially and culturally rather than biologically.
"Socially and culturally" = defined by people, i. e. capable of redefinition for/by people
It's still male or female. That's its definition.
I believe that you are the same gender as you were when you were born. I find people who go transgendered are not very smart. You were ment to stay that gender. There are just two genders. You're either a male or female. Are you a male and transgendered then you are a female in a lot of eyes. There's no in between or other gender than female or male.
A friend of mine insists there's 3 genders: male, female, and neuter...
I mean I don't wanna argue about it because I don't know what exactly he's trying to say. But I just agreed because he kept saying it was clearly a third gender in his first language. Referring to I think like when a pet is neutered-- only a person? I don't know..
Male female and neuter. So 3. I guess.
Its a common confusion to assume gender and sex are the same, but they are not. @BlueCoyote is correct. Sex is biological, gender is social. Gender (in terms of topic) is a term introduced in the 50's specifically designed to place roles in society. So yes there are more than two genders and that is a fact.
So there are only two sexes?
No. There are only two genders.
There are male and female. If your trans then your still one or the other. If your gender fluid your one or the other depending on whatever that criteria is but still 1 or the other. Intersexed... your still in between 2 genders. Non binary... your just refusing to chose between you guessed it 2 genders male female and I don't wanna chose in other words a child.
"In MY opinion, there are more than two genders."
"I feel like there are more than two genders."
Too bad, because this is not a matter of FEELINGS or OPINIONS, but facts and research. Yes, gender dysphoria is a thing but being transgender is not a THIRD gender, you're still either male or female. It's just that your mental gender (the brain structure of a person with gender dysphoria is equal to that of the opposite sex) isn't the same as your biological sex.
What genitalia do you have. Then you are either male or female. The reason why people don't use the word sex is that the word sex is used for other things.
I can't see how people get offended at this, you are on or the other. When I call you him or her I am referring to your biological gender not your personality or how you act.
Ever heard of transgender? This is wrong or transphobic.
Until the insanity of the Communist Jews of the Frankfurt School infected US academia post 1933, the word gender was interchangeable with the term biological sex.
In correct English, gender is still another term for biological sex.
There are two genders: male and female.
Everything else is the mental illness and sexual perversion of Cultural Marxism.
If you were born with a penis, you're a male.
If you were born with a vagina, you're a female.
But if there are actually more than two genders, then I identify myself as a tadpole with wings and a tongue longer than a football field.
So what about transgender people? Look up Geena Rocero, would you call her male?
@Schtroumpf What about him? He looks like a woman with a dick.
Yes and no. Gender is based off of what society deems it to be and there is a difference between gender and sex. There was times in societies where there were more than two, but in today's world there is prominently only two genders in most societies, so there isn't more than two genders.

There are 2 genders. Male & female.
sweetie there is only XX and XY. XX = vagina, XY = penis. THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS
There are two genders. Male and female.
Defined by males having sperm and females having eggs.
Everything else is down to sexual preferences and sexual orientation.
I don't know how this started but it's just ridiculous.
If you're going to downvote you clearly don't agree with me. I don't bite - argue your case!
Nope. No matter what you think, your genes never lie. And as long as that base can't change, you can't change. You can modify your body, think differently, but deep inside you, you're still a man or a woman. And since everyday you can hear about a new "gender", that only shows that what makes a new "gender" is not biology, but people.
Claiming you are of some gender is claiming you are a chair. You can claim it, and believe it, that won't make you a chair.
In simplistic therms, no. Realistically however gender was never something that easily defined so trying to number it is the wrong approach.
Not really. You mean sex, right? If so, there are two sexes, female and male. I don't include intersex, because it’s quite clearly a medical condition and not a third sex.
Nonbioligical. People seem to think there are more than male and female.
Gender is a social construct. Man or woman. It's just a way of socially classifying individuals, hobbies, activities, appearance, etc. You could always say non-binary people exist and a couple of my friends are, but it's just an identity thing. There are 2 genders, in my opinion.
Two genders biologically.
Socially, be a snowflake, go ahead, no one's stopping you
anyone who thinks there are more then two genders is stupid
I do not need to look up shit
I know what the fuck I see
a dick and a pussy
THAT'S IT
2 not 3 or 4 or anything else
plus I do not give a fuck about how the LGBT feels lol
There are only two genders but we cannot forget that some people just have genetic or hormonal problems that can lead them to being neither male nor female.
What can we call them?
Hermaphrodites
Is a gender or only a name?
I think they are called intersex, I'm not sure. Over here we call those people the third gender or common gender, since they are neither women nor men.
I think in many countries they are called gender X or transgender
I think the idea that there are more than two genders is silly gender is physical appearance at birth not how you feel about yourself or others sex and sexuality are completely different
Nope... but liberal precious snowflakes will disagree
No.
Only two and hermaphrodites - which are both... or 1, depending on which one of those actually works.
I have nothing against trans people but you can't just make up another gender based on someones feelings sry there are only two genders.
Sorry but the whole gender thing is stupid. We are born male or female and we determine how to act on that gender through masculine or feminine traits. How to act is depended on society and the individual.
There are and always will be only two genders. There is no "spectrum" just male and female. You can pretend to be whatever, but that doesn't change the fact your are either male or female biologically.
On planet Earth? Nope, only two, but maybe some aliens have three or more genders, like in Star Trek.
There's more ways to identify yourself, but biologically, there are two.
unless born "hermaphrodite" you either have a dick or a vagina
No, that would be too weird. You either have a vagina or a penis. There is no in between
Exactly
Since everyone seems to say gender is a spectrum. The it's the spectrum between the number 1 and the number 2, there are only 2 genders. You're not a gender/age fluid gay pedophile.
If we are talking about biologically, then yes there are only two genders (what other genital could you possibly have?) but if we are talking about mentally, there are more than two
There are also more biological genders. Think about intersex people.
Genders? Perhaps. Not to my knowledge, unless we're talking language.
Sexes? Yes. Ya got male bits, female bits, or an anomaly.
There is male, female and liberal mental retardation
Nope, just two. XX (female) and XY (male). That's all you need to know.
There is only two genders
A man and a woman
A he goat and A she goat
A male frog and Female Frog
A male Whale and Female Whale
Anything apart from that is not normal
Can anybody point the 3rd gender for me? In the Animal kingdom?
there are 2 genders. All this gender fluid and whatever else bullshit is just the millennial generations desire to feel unique and get attention.
Yes...
I don't know what is a point to ask such question...🤔
Well the only way to make them 2 is governments illogical laws and regulations
Gender is a spectrum weather you like it or not binch and that's just the tea
There are more than two if you count genetic mistakes such as intersex. Otherwise no, there's only two.
